Xi confirms 2 pandas will come to Zoo Atlanta in the coming days
“The Chinese president announced that as a measure of good faith, China would send two pandas to Zoo Atlanta after Beijing reclaimed four pandas in 2024 as diplomatic tensions between China and the U.S. intensified.
China and the zoo first announced in April that two pandas, male Ping Ping and female Fu Shuang, would be coming to the U.S. as part of a giant panda conservation agreement with the China Wildlife Conservation Association.
Xi confirmed that “Ping Ping and Fu Shuang will come to their new home in Zoo Atlanta and meet with the American people” in “a few days.”
He called the panda loan programs with the U.S. “an envoy of friendship.”
Both pandas were born at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China.
Lun Lun, Yang Yang, Ya Lun, and Xi Lun returned from Zoo Atlanta to China in 2024. The National Zoo in Washington returned three pandas to China in 2023, and other American zoos have sent pandas back to China as loan agreements lapsed.”

“Every year, Yellowstone National Park’s geology team collects trash out of the park’s famous hot springs. This year, it has found a record-breaking quantity: more than 20,100 pieces of trash, including 280 hats. The team has also fished out 5,600 rocks and sticks”

Dragonhunter Exophytic Oviposition - aka Laying Eggs
Pretty neat seeing her deposit her eggs in the lotus plant I have in my pond. It looks like she is inserting them into the floating rootball. I leave my pond au natural and find a plethora of dragonflies each year. I have sat and attempted to count individuals; around 20. Cheers! Filmed on an iPhone 8 played back in real time.

Found Puppy
I think he’s a Shih Szu mix? I really don’t understand people. How could anyone leave this little guy in a box behind Target alone. WTF?!🤬 really makes my blood boil as this little guy wouldn’t have survived had my SIL not been driving by at that very moment. No teeth, no siblings (even though the box was marked “free puppies .”) dumped in the August heat in Douglasville GA. Not to fret, karma will get these evil people and the puppy is now safe getting all the love he can handle.

Roswell Area Park Pond Update
While walking in the park on Tuesday I stopped to check out the pond. Looks like the bank remediation is about complete, the native plants have been installed and a few islands were created/restored. Those rocks and logs will be full of turtles soon! Crews added gravel on the paths and I think a few more picnic tables were also added. Happy trails everyone!

Lost Corner Preserve Cleanup
