First homemade steak in ages

I made a rump steak (I aimed for medium-rare!) with a texan steakhouse rub, shiitake mushrooms and baby plum tomatoes pan cooked with some butter & garlic, and some oven roasted tenderstem broccoli. Super flavourful & juicy!

Changing from methylphenidate to elvanse in a few days - what to expect/differences?

I just had my second titration appt today (and also just started my 54mg dose of affenid xl today) and because I had 0 ADHD improvement on the 36mg, my provider is changing me to elvanse from next week.

On the methylphenidate, aside from increased jitters and mild palpitations the first few days of dose increase (plus the impacted sleep), I cannot tell when it kicks in or wears off. There’s no noticeable impact on my daily life, focus, etc. On the 54mg today, I feel the same as every other dose increase without any improvement in focus.

I have predominantly inattentive ADHD and will be starting on 30mg elvanse, increasing to 40 in two weeks.

What should I expect to be different about this medication?

I know it takes longer to build up in your system, but that’s about it. Do you need to take it with breakfast/food, as with methylphenidate XL? Are the initial dose increase effects similar to methylphenidate?

Yellow toenail clearing up on one big toe with Curanail, but worsening on the other?

So my right big toenail was the first one I realised I had fungal nail in - because it split horizontally and I had to cut off as much as possible (uncomfortable, exposing the nail bed too). I was getting recurring athlete’s foot and couldn’t understand why until I clocked the nail fungus.

My left toenail had the yellow top and slightly at the bottom too, but it’s just as prominent now and the bottom yellowing is even more prominent!

Compared to January this year (the second pics), my right toenail looks a LOT better, and has grown out massively. There’s still some yellowing but much less, and my nail is no longer brittle.

The left one looks worse though, and I’ve been treating them both with Curanail every week since the end of Jan 2026.

It also feels as though my left toenail isn’t really growing - my right one definitely is, and I need to trim it every month or so, but my left one has barely moved.

Any suggestions? I’d rather not have to go on oral antifungals if I can help it (I take ADHD meds and I know they can interact) but not sure if I’m doing something wrong!

How to distinguish between SD and overweight D?

So I’m 172cm and currently overweight (BMI of about 28) on a weight loss journey.

I’m really struggling to decide on whether I’m an SD or a D with more body fat lol.

I’m definitely one of the two Ds - aside from being heavier in my lower body, I don’t have any width and my shoulders are really narrow. So, not FN - plus, FN clothing makes me look absolutely atrocious.

But, I’m pear shaped and whilst I have a decent size bust, they’re more “front facing”.

My waist is quite straight, and my overall torso looks to kinda just go straight from my waist upwards - from the front, unless I don’t wear a bra or wear a padded one, there’s not much side volume/upper curve. Which argues against SD.

But, I also feel like there are a lot of arguments to not be D either - such as the sloping, narrow shoulders, I have very little D facial structure, and I’m fairly fleshy everywhere, not just in specific areas.

Clothing wise, I feel like I suit some aspects of both, whilst also some other aspects of both don’t work either.

Thoughts? How can I distinguish between the two?

SD influencer?

I follow mariacloehb and I’m convinced she’s SD! She’s 178cm and I do see more curve than narrow or width, and she tends to look great in more SD lines.

Not all of her outfits are SD friendly, but I think her OOTDs are a good way to gauge how a certain trend or outfit or cut would look on an SD body (albeit a much slimmer one than mine lol) so sharing it here!

What sort of self tan should cool-neutral fair olives look for?

So I’m a neutral-cool leaning fair olive, I also have some rosacea and thus natural redness on my face.

I tried a self tanner (Eco By Sonya - apparently good for acne prone and sensitive skin) which is on the right.

I feel like it makes me look much more yellow/warm toned, rather than tanned. Maybe enhancing the green overtone/oliveness, too.

Whilst it looks ok (definitely yellow/a bit muddy looking but at least it’s not several shades darker), I’d prefer something that didn’t make me look way more warm olive toned.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

How long after infusion are you safe from iron flu?

I had a 1000mg infusion of Ferinject on Tuesday lunchtime, it’s officially exactly 48 hours later and aside from being a bit tired, I feel fine.

Most side effect guidelines say it crops up 24-48 hours later, but I’ve seen some say up to 72 hours later.

The dr who did the IV said with this type of iron and the large dose, the post iron flu was almost guaranteed it was that common. She said the majority of people she gave it to ended up getting flu like symptoms, so I’m just wondering when to expect them! Unless I am, by some miracle, one of the lucky ones who gets off unscathed lol.

Did anyone feel fine the first 2 days and then get the flu symptoms?

The never ending struggle of finding pants!

Apologies for the scribbled out feet, I don’t trust reddit with my toes lol.

So, it feels like just about every pair of pants I try on are wrong in SOME way. It’s like my lower half just isn’t made for pants, but I need some decent, versatile pairs for work (and also, ideally, to use outside of work too).

Pair 1 (pics 1-3) are the Halara mid-rise stretch work trousers in Navy.

-Pros are that they’re very comfy and stretchy, and not a bad length.

- Cons are that they DO show all my lumps, bumps & VPL in direct light and they’re a weird shape (although I genuinely think that’s mostly my legs). They cling to my saddlebags and are largely shapeless throughout the rest of the leg.

Pair 2 (pics 4-7) are the Pull & Bear wide leg darted trousers in Grey.

- Pros are that they’re exceptionally comfy, they don’t feel restrictive, they sit low-mid rise really nicely and they’re loose on my very large thighs. Good length.

- Cons are that they sort of look like a big rectangle. Straight down from my hips (my widest point) and look quite blocky. When I wear daintier shoes with these, they make my feet look TINY. Not sure if pleating is great for SD or pear body shapes.

Pair 3 (pics 8-10) are the ASOS tailored snatch waist wide leg pants in Black.

- Pros are that these are also very comfy, fit my waist well whilst being loose on hips and legs. I love the flow of the pant legs.

- Cons are that I have a short waist so have to wear these with longer tops or I look as though I’m a chest on top of legs (like that family guy “let’s go all the way up griffin” meme). They’re pleated and the hips flare out which make me look even more bottom heavy. No pockets and too long. With these, I’ve decided to keep them but I’m trying to find a tailor who can do adjustments to reduce the poofiness of the hips and shorten the length.

They all have some pros, but they all have cons. My fav pair of these are pair 2 so far (maybe because of the rise), but they do look quite casual and slouchy. My workplace is smart casual so I can get away with loose pants, but they’re not 100% flattering.

There doesn’t appear to be a tailor locally who can do adjustments (I think the closest is about 2 hours away, bizarrely), so I’m trying to find as close to perfect as I can for minimal adjusting and able to wear them in the mean time.

Thoughts on these, or any suggestions of pants that you think would look better than these on my body type?

Does anyone use not quite seb derm friendly makeup without any issues?

I had a really bad flare up last year (as well as my type 2 rosacea) that took months to get under control - I think it was caused by using a different, non-seb derm safe moisturiser and then not knowing how to get it back under control. Took months of repairing my skin barrier, protopic/elidel, azelaic acid and an entire overhaul of my skin and makeup products.

These days, I have 0 issues with seb derm on my face. I still get it a bit in my ears (just because it’s such an awkward area to treat) but everywhere else (scalp and face) are fine and I haven’t had a flare up since January this year. My entire skincare routine is both seb derm and rosacea safe.

However, I recently discovered I have pale olive skin, which is why I always struggle with a foundation and concealer match!

The only foundation I can find that looks to have a great olive skin tone range is Lisa Eldridge, and looking at the ingredients on Sezia.co, it looks to contain “Sorbitan Sesquiisostearate”. I’m a bit hesitant to try it due to this - but surely if all my skincare is fine, it should act as a barrier against one less-than-ideal ingredient, right?

I’ve always been using my usual eye makeup too (not seb derm safe eyeshadows, eyeliners or mascaras) - I do get seb derm on my eyelids, but I also haven’t had a flare up on them since the same time as my rest of face flare up, so I’m thinking that the skincare was the largest issue last year, rather than the makeup.

For those with facial seb derm, do you use any non-seb derm safe makeup without any issues? Is it worth a shot?

Is anyone else cautious about weight loss, with the fear it’ll affect your skin appearance/laxity?

So in these pics, the first pics are from 2019 (I was 25) and the second pics are this year (31) and I’m literally the same weight at both ages. My BMI has hovered around 27 for years now, so I’m overweight and could do with getting to a lower weight.

But, noticing my cheek fat reducing purely from ageing and maturing alone, not even weight loss, has me worried about what my face is going to look like after weight loss.

I think I look fine atm - the lower cheek fat dissipating has revealed some unexpected muscle creases (used to just be faint dimples but now they’re full on lines) and my upper cheeks have lost fullness too, creating a more square appearance, but I don’t mind looking more my age and having defined cheekbones in some angles lol.

My issue is, I have quite a weak bone structure, so I also feel like weight loss might make me look a bit more tired and saggy. And/or make my mouth muscle creases even more prominent!

Can anyone else relate? Or has anyone else been in the same position - if so, did your face change for better or for worse? Did you do anything aesthetically afterwards?

DAE get a sore throat after drinking sports drinks?

For some reason, whenever I drink a sports drink - something like Lucozade (non-fizzy) - I start getting a bit of a sore or irritated throat.

I don’t really notice it with any other drinks, including soft drinks, and when the sore throat occurs depends. Sometimes I need to drink at least half a 500ml bottle, sometimes even a few sips irritates my throat.

Anyone else? I don’t have any allergies, so not sure why lol

What’s your go to lip stain or lip colour?

In these pics I’m wearing my go-to lip stain - Nyx Lip Lingerie in shade “Send Nudes”, the first pic is it built up and all over my lips, the second it it’s mostly outlined and blurred inwards towards the centre (a bit more natural so how I normally wear it) and the third pic is it after eating.

I think, longevity wise, it’s my fav so far! I really like the colour when it’s fresh on too, but like in pic 3, when it wears off, I feel like it looks a bit too “berry” and cool toned/purple for my liking. I’ve tried the shade “Barely There’ which I do also like, but it is a very warm nude brown colour so can look a bit off depending what I pair it with.

I’m trying to find something with good staying power but a bit closer to my natural lip colour - slightly warmer and lighter. Any other colours that are good for fair olives I would also love to hear!

Is Tom Holland still natty?

He definitely looks solidly bulkier than he did a few years ago, also a Marvel actor. But, he IS short and has been a gymnast for decades. Thoughts?

Best medication for inattentive ADHD?

I’m on the prolonged release methylphenidate, but it’s barely making a difference. It kinda feels like I just haven’t taken anything, I’m not sure if Elvanse is more likely to work better for predominantly inattentive ADHD?

Any experiences with the two and which worked best?

Super high waisted wide leg pants??

They’re so comfortable, but I think they’re too baggy to fit the SD recommendations!

I think they’re really fun and like the style of them, but I have a short waist and I’m not sure whether I should avoid pants this high and wide, or if they’re pull off-able?

I wouldn’t wear these with the grey top though (it was just for this pic to show just how high they are), I’d go for something monochrome for the vertical, and a pointed toe shoe.

Do they look ridiculous or are they a statement?

Managed to get rid of persistent skin dullness & dehydration - May 2024 (1&2) vs July 2026 (3&4)

I’m not wearing foundation or powder in any of the pics (never been a big fan), I’m just wearing some targeted/pinpoint concealer and lip stains.

In May 2024 (pics 1&2) I was 28, almost 29, and felt like I looked so OLD and dry. I have oily skin with type 2 rosacea, and although I didn’t have any acne, my skin just looked and felt lifeless and irritated all the time.

I wasn’t regularly wearing SPF, didn’t exfoliate properly (not physically or chemically) and was wearing an oil control moisturiser. My rosacea was untreated so my skin was sensitive and I just couldn’t figure out what worked for me. My skin would be flaky and matte, my smile lines around my mouth and eyes were exaggerated, and even my lips were dry and peeling.

Fast forward to this year - pics 3&4 are from earlier this month - I’m about to turn 31 and my skin feels so much more comfortable and alive! I’ve recently been dealing with random pimples (I think due to the heatwaves, been a sweatier than usual summer!) but they’re small, only last a few days and aren’t painful or cystic.

I use 20% Azelaic Acid daily after my moisturiser containing hyaluronic acid (Hada Labo), and found an SPF (LRP Anthelios Oil Control Fluid) that doesn’t irritate my skin or make me feel too greasy. I also used Soolantra for a few months at the start of the year to help get my rosacea under control.

Aside from a gentle cleanser, I don’t use anything else, and have found a simple routine with targeted products that work for your skin type and concerns go a much longer way than numerous serums, treatments, etc!

Do any other SDs with a stomach pouch find that a lot of SD recs highlight it?

I’m wearing a pencil skirt from OGL, who do some lovely styles for SDs - this one is super comfy and doesn’t cling to my hips, but it DOES accentuate my stomach and you can literally see my belly button indent!

I’m on a weight loss journey but a slower one, focusing on building strength rather than fast weight loss, so I’ll probably be dealing with something similar for a while.

Anything looser or draped on my stomach makes my already wide hips and stomach pouch look bigger, but I’m not sure what to use to disguise or minimise the look of my stomach and belly button?

A lot of the SD advice is for pants or skirts to be tighter fitting in the hip area and then wider in the leg, so wide legs or flares, but the same issue happens with those too.

The only pants that don’t do this are pleated, but they then make my hips look wider.

Any advice or suggestions?

Is it common for unmedicated ADHD to cause depression and/or apathy?

So I’ve recently been diagnosed with ADHD at 30 years old, and I’m currently going through titration. My boyfriend is my age and I’m also convinced he has ADHD too - I feel like partly why we get along so well is that we’re similar and understand how each other works.

We both have issues with sticking to hobbies, keeping on top of housework and other tasks, procrastinating/being unable to focus on something until there’s a looming deadline, underlying anxiety, struggling with motivation to do stuff, start and stick to exercise routines, etc etc.

My bf has felt quite apathetic for the last 5 or so years though, and in his own words, has felt quite “flat”. He takes a very small dose (like 7 or 7.5g) of Mirtazapine at night to help him get to sleep, since like me, he struggles with falling asleep at night and bedtime anxiety. But whilst it helps him get to sleep, he wakes up feeling groggy and it doesn’t seem to benefit how he feels overall. The help getting to sleep doesn’t translate to energy and motivation and interest in things. He still is just not really bothered about doing stuff, hobbies, etc.

I think lifestyle probably doesn’t help either (not sticking to an exercise routine, not getting enough sleep, vaping, also not living at home) but I also think some of those lifestyle hurdles are due to ADHD in the first place.

Has anyone else dealt with something similar and/or think this is due to ADHD? Any suggestions on what to do? He won’t be able to get diagnosed for a while as he’s abroad with work.
