Boy finds massive megalodon tooth on beach
An 11-year-old boy has discovered the tooth of a giant prehistoric shark on a beach walk in New Jersey.
Bo Bowers and his father Michael found the four-inch megalodon tooth while on holiday in Sea Isle City.
The megalodon was an ancient predator that has been extinct for around 3.6 million years. The largest shark to ever live, the creature was around 24.3m long and weighed up to 94 tons.
The family discovered the fossil while digging through rocks on the beach. Mr Bowers’s hand would not fit inside a narrow opening, but his son was able to grab it and pull it out.
