The 46 feels better than my usual 45 with Tokio’s

I tried the 46 Tokios and they felt better than the 45. Especially if I wear socks. Thanks for everyone’s advice. I want a different color than grey.

Finding clogs that fit right?

Definitely going to look for Birkenstocks tokio’s. Was the fit of clogs the same as shoes or sandals?

Sizing up Tokio Clogs or clogs in general

Definitely going to look for tokios. Was the fit of clogs the same as shoes or sandals? I have never owned clogs. Any other advice appreciated. Visiting a Birkenstock store today. Hope they have some.

Mindfulness while traveling and silent retreats

Do you find that you need to adopt a more mindful practice when on vacation and traveling. I sometimes grab the phone more while on vacation and I’m trying to gain more focus while on vacation. I read an essay today by someone who went to a quiet retreat or silent retreat and that seemed to be so inspiring the effect of being thrown into pure mindfulness can be on someone.

Counting?

Do you focus on counting or your breath or something else while being mindful? Anyone pray a sort of mechanical prayer to put you into the present and quiet your mind? Ideas on a quiet mind?

That feeling when you put on your birks at the end of a long workday

What would you call that good feeling you get when after a long day in work shoes you get to put on comfy birk sandals? Always gives me a smile. Oh well.

Traveling light and/or backpack

If you travel light which I find to be great, what do you do if you find something you want to buy and bring home? Skip or mail or buy a suitcase?

How little do you plan?

I am trying to focus on the present when traveling and when driving and everything else I do. I’m letting life happen and working on just quiet observations without distractions. Where does planning work in with your day when you aim to adopt a slow living pattern?

Milanos Fit and Size check

I’ve been wearing my new Milanos the past two days and even though I know some may say here they are too small they have felt great and loose and the back strap has worked out great. I don’t really feel it. Anyway doing a fit size check here anyway because I do value everyone’s opinions here and I know I probably need a size increase for clogs should I get tokio’s someday.

Being more present while traveling

I’ve been considering taking a break from social media while on vacation so I can be more present. One thing puzzles me, though: discussions about this often treat posting an Instagram or Facebook story as broadcasting your vacation to the entire world.
My accounts are private, and the audience is mostly people I actually know. Posting one photograph without a caption can take only a few seconds. In some ways, it feels less like “performing for the internet” and more like sending friends a little postcard.
The real distraction for me may not be posting—it may be staying in the app afterward, checking who viewed the story, reading reactions, and then falling into scrolling.
Has anyone tried a **“post and leave”** approach while traveling: share one occasional photo, add no explanation, and immediately close the app without checking engagement or browsing?
Did that still interfere with being present, or did it give you a healthy middle ground between documenting everything and disappearing completely?

Does not posting on social media while traveling allow you to experience the trip more fully

I’m considering taking a vacation without posting any pictures or updates while I’m away. I would still take photographs for myself, but I’d wait until after the trip—if I share them at all.
I enjoy letting friends see where I am and what I’m experiencing, but I’ve begun wondering whether posting changes the experience in subtle ways. Instead of simply noticing a beautiful place, part of my mind starts choosing the picture, composing the caption, checking reactions, or thinking about how the trip appears to other people.
There’s also something appealing about allowing a journey to remain private while it is happening—as though the experience belongs entirely to you and the person traveling with you before it becomes a story for anyone else.
For those who have stopped posting during vacations, did you feel more present and relaxed? Did you miss sharing in real time? And did you eventually post afterward, share only with a few people, or keep the trip mostly private?
