theguardian.comIs it common for a landlord to not increase rent in a rent controlled unit?
I've been living in my rent controlled apartment in Lower Haight since covid and pay $2000/mo.
Since then my landlord has literally not raised my rent by the allowable amount even once. And actually I negotiated a $100 discount during covid after my first year there from $2100 to $2000.
According to the SF rent board website, my landlord could theoretically raise my rent 13.1% with banked increases. I'm sort of surprised they haven't at all considering the current market...

nypost.comProgressivism is out in SF but 3 progressives winning in NY primaries...
NY 7, NY 13, and NY 10 all swinging progressive, with 2 centrist incumbents on the way out.
NY 7 and NY 13 both hardcore DSA members. Very vocally anti-Zionist, very openly socialist types. Neither would have a chance in SF.
Can we finally agree that SF is not progressive in the same way NYC seems to be progressive at the moment?

wsj.comIs this pinguecula?
I hd my last session of IPL and optilift today.
I‘ll go back in a month for a follow up but in general I‘m not sure if anything I’ve done has helped with this stable patch of blood vessels that go from the outer corners of my eye to my iris in a cone shape.
I see a faint yellowish tint and not sure if that is indicative of pinguecula and unrelated to dry eye. Should I see another specialist to make sure?

sfstandard.comI don't think most jobs really pay more in NYC?
I feel like everyone assumes that every employer pays some significant premium to hire in NYC but outside of a very select number of private equity jobs or big tech jobs it actually feels more like because there's so many desperate people who just want to live in NYC no matter what that employers can actually get away with paying very mediocre wages considering the cost of living.
I'm not sure how exactly it would be possible to prove but why am I seeing big corporate jobs hiring for "director" or "VP" level requiring a decade of experience pay under $200k?

nypost.comDo well off millennials live in Williamsburg?
Serious question...I'm in my late 30s in tech and have $4m liquid invested. I'm renting but looking to buy somewhere in Brooklyn.
Is Williamsburg too young or is it skewing older now that it's become more expensive? I am looking at buying either in Williamsburg or Brooklyn Heights. I like the convenience factor but not sure if it would feel like I'm living amongst new grads.
