Anyone else with 35 hours+ since last updates from Search Console?

Typically 5 hours or so, and the occasional 15 hour, but never seen 35 hours.

Google says up to 48 hours is expected, so not too concerned anyway, but curious if anyone else has long update times currently.

Misconception: No, touching a pup does not inherently cause the mother to "eat it"

I've seen this claim a few times here.

There is no evidence that touching a pup will "leave a scent" that causes the mother to "eat the pup", or any variation. This goes for all mammals.

What many people cite as evidence is generative AI, which is citing reddit/facebook posts from 10+ years ago, and traffic-driven blogs.

Mothers might eat their pups due to lacking resources (for themselves and/or the pup), or from other stressors like large litter size or ill pups.

This is not to say be callous when touching pups: please wash your hands and take precautions. But to have a scary claim like "don't touch the pup or the mother will cannibalize it" which could prevent owners from providing necessary care to a pup is dangerous.

edit: grammar

r/seogrowth is now my go-to

Happily coming to this subreddit with my questions and engagement.

Had a post removed in r/ seo (a post which I shared in this subreddit and got plenty of useful inputs), and that community pretty much run (and constantly commented on) by one person (their moderator). I had actually blocked that mod simply becuase their input is always at the top, and it makes it hard to get a different perspective.

Asked about the removal, and got the classic low-care highly-absorbed mod response: "read the rules". I did; no violation. So I asked for them to point to the specific rule that [their moderator] thought I violated. They couldn't, and gave a disregarding response with attitude.

Funny enough, they reinstated my post. I had enough; I deleted it and left the community.

Lo and behold, 1 hour after leaving the community voluntarily (no angry posts or modmail), they banned me.

Never had an issue in r/ seogrowth, so here is where I'll stay <3

How to stop manual decision to remove my handwritten posts because of perceived AI?

Frequently, I write a well structured paragraph with punctuation (not even using emdashes, which I used well before the advent of Generative AI), and the post/comment gets removed.

I understand the need for filtering AI spam. I've never used AI to write a post. I have spelling mistakes in posts; I'm human. I've had multiple posts removed for "AI" (and subsequent "discussion" with mods that led to bans).

How can my already non ai posts become even less ai to pass, not bot, but manual removal in popular subs?

First person or third person?

With natural language queries being so important, my thought was third person is the first choice.

(In the context of personal websites) Why write "I'm a web developer. See my work." when you could write "John Doe is a web developer. See John's work."? Ideally, people will search for "Who is John Doe developer" or "John Doe work". You probably aren't indexing for "web developer" or "work" alone.

Some forums and articles mention keyword stuffing, but if your website's brand/entity is you, I can't see why you would want a ton of "I, me, my"s, or how it would be stuffing.

Of course, search engines and crawlers are smart enough to extract the info without third person language, and there are UX implications (third person can be weird when it's clear you're writing it).

Curious of others experiences.

What are these spikes?

Found a (presumed) cut down palm tree, and noticed these strong spikes growing out of them.

To my knowledge, Palm trees don't grow epicormic buds, and it appears these grew through the base.

Unusable Dev

When I run dev (vite 8, Svelte 5, pnpm, on windows 11, in VSC), it runs in 3 seconds, as always.

But the time between running, and when the page is actually ready to be interacted with, is now astronomical.

Last successful runs took 4 minutes from when I ran "pnpm dev" to when the website loaded in my browser. Recently, it's indefinitely loading, never rendering anything. It used to run and render in 10 seconds WCS.. now BCS is it renders at all.

Yet, when I build and run preview, that's rendered in less than 25 seconds (as it's always been).

Not sure what happened, and it's probably something outside of svelte. Haven't touched any configurations. Most major change would've been the recent Vite & SvelteKit, and incorporating the pnpm-workspace file. No file size increase or new packages. Laptop is solid and has space.

Have deleted and reinstalled nodule modules, .svelte-kit, .vite, etc.

Been hell trying to make minor css tweaks and having to build every minute that I want to see my changes.

Anyone experienced this? Will try reinstalling and reconfiguring when I have time, but curious why build would be unaffected (and considerably faster) than dev.

You don't need to give Wix access to your Google Account for Google Search Console

If you work on multiple sites and don't want wix to have access to your search data from other sites:

 1. Go to your Google Search Console
 2. Click add property; enter your domain name
 3. It will provide you with a "txt" record, with instructions. Copy the txt record.
 4. Go to Wix
 5. Go to domains
 6. Click 3 dots next to domain name, and select manage DNS record
 7. Go to the txt section, click add txt, and paste the record in the "value" cell. Add it.
 8. Go back to GSC and click verify

Takes less than a minute, and you don't have to give up unnecessary access.

Ocean City fines church $1,000 daily over homeless shelter

Paywalled, briefly:

Church officials said the first daily citation was delivered by Ocean City’s planning director Monday while volunteers and staff were serving lunch at the church’s Outreach Center.

An Ocean City attorney previously told The Sun the case was “absolutely, 100% a constitutional issue” that he believes could escalate to the Supreme Court – with the church ultimately prevailing.

Attorney Tom Maronick believes the dispute would center on the First Amendment’s free exercise clause and the federal Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act, which limits governments from using land-use regulations that substantially burden religious exercise.

Rev. Jill Williams, rector of St. Paul’s By-the-Sea, said she doesn’t understand why city officials have gone this route.

“It’s baffling to me,” Williams said. “The people of Ocean City are outraged that their government is doing this, and that their tax money is being used to fight us. And there are so many comments – should we boycott Ocean City? I’m not coming down anymore if this is how Ocean City behaves.”

Town officials have not publicly outlined what additional enforcement steps could follow the daily citations.

Ocean City Mayor Richard Meehan could not immediately be reached for comment.

Another admin is trying to make changes to this page at the same time as you. Please try again.

On desktop, every edit requires you to refresh the page, or you get that error. I have no other admins on any of my pages. I've tried different browser approaches.

Sometimes, you refresh the page, make an in-text edit, and it still gives you that error (and clears your unsaved in-text edit).

First noticed this issue in 2024, and have not seen it go away since. I saw a post here from 8 months ago where LinkedIn replied**, which indicated to me that they were clueless the issue even existed. Still no fix or real acknowledgement.

** you're not allowed to link in this subreddit (even if it's a link to this subreddit), but the post is titled "Why is updating a linkedin company page broken?".

Who remembers when Doug Ducey Spent $171 million of taxpayer funds on unused shipping containers?

In 2022, former governor Doug Ducey spent $95 million on shipping containers, to be used to fill the gaps in the southern border with Mexico.

The US government sued the state of Arizona for trespassing, requiring reversal of their actions, costing taxpayers another $76 million.

The total cost to taxpyers likely exceeded $171 million, even after reselling containers. Many estimates indicate expenses around $200 million in the span of 6 months, with reclaimed value of only $4 million.

This was all paid for by the tax payers, from the "border security fund" passed in 2022. Of that $335 million fund, over 50% was spent on unused shipping containers.

Now, in 2026, we're seeing more and more of these shipping container apartments. The shipping containers from the wall were sold for as little as $500; some of these new shipping container apartments fetch rent starting at $1,200/month.
