Got a problem, looking for a solution.

I got a honda civic 2010, the AC doesnt click when I put it on and is blowing warm air. Is there a likely solution or should I take it to the mechanics?

Thanks

39 years old, Is an apprenticeship still my best route into becoming an electrician?

Hi everyone,

I know this sub probably gets asked this all the time, but i just want to make sure i do my due diligence and covered all bases. I wanted to ask people who are actually in the trade before I commit to a career change.

I'm 39 and currently studying GCSE Maths and English. Bit of a late bloomer, but I'm serious about becoming an electrician and I'm prepared to put the work in.

From everything I've researched, it seems an apprenticeship is the best route because you get proper on-site experience while learning. My concern is my age. Realistically, are employers likely to take on a 39-year-old apprentice, or am I going to struggle compared with younger applicants?

If I can't secure an apprenticeship, what would you recommend as the next best route that still leads to becoming a fully qualified electrician?

I've applied for a trainee PAT Testing role which advertised no experience needed hoping to hear from them soon. Would that be a worthwhile stepping stone? Could it help me get into the electrical industry and eventually become a qualified electrician, or is it more of a separate career path?

My long-term goal isn't just to get a job it's to become a competent electrician, possibly specialise later on and eventually work for myself.

I'd really appreciate honest opinions, even if it's not what I want to hear. Thanks in advance.

Title: First time building a high-end gaming/PC - Looking for feedback before I buy

Title: First time building a high-end gaming/workstation PC - Looking for feedback before I buy

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to build my first PC completely on my own, so I'd really appreciate some feedback before I start buying parts.

A friend of mine helped put together the initial build, and I also ran it through ChatGPT to see if there were any compatibility issues or recommendations. This is the current parts list I'm considering:

- AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D

- ASUS ROG Strix X870-F Gaming WiFi

- RTX 5080 16GB

- 64GB (2×32GB) DDR5-6000 CL30

- 2TB Crucial T705 Gen5 NVMe SSD

- 4TB Crucial T705 Gen5 NVMe SSD

- Corsair RM1000x ATX 3.1 (1000W)

- Noctua NH-D15 G2 (or NZXT Kraken Elite 240)

- Fractal Design North XL or Fractal Meshify 3

Main uses:

- Heavy 4K gaming (my biggest priority)

- Moderate FL Studio music production

- Some coding/software development

- General workstation use

Budget: £3,000–£3,500 (UK)

Monitor: LG G4 65" OLED TV (4K 144Hz via HDMI 2.1)

Before I commit to buying everything, I'd like to know:

- Would you change any of these components?

- Is there anything that's overkill or not worth the money?

- Are there any compatibility issues I've overlooked?

- Are there better alternatives that offer better value within my budget?

As this is my first ever build, any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

39M in the UK – Electrician or Data Analyst?

I'm 39 and currently making a career change.

This September I'll be studying GCSE Maths and English to improve my qualifications. After that, I plan to pursue either an electrical apprenticeship or a career in data analytics.

My long-term goal isn't just to earn money. I'd eventually like to leave London and live somewhere quieter, close to nature. I'd also like a career that offers long-term stability and good earning potential.

A bit about me:

I enjoy solving problems and understanding how systems work.

I have ADHD, so I generally learn best by doing rather than purely through theory.

I have asthma and diabetes so I know physical work is something I need to consider long term.

I like the idea of becoming an electrician because it's a practical skill, offers self-employment opportunities and seems difficult to replace.

I also like the idea of data analysis because remote working would fit the lifestyle I eventually want.

If you were starting again today, knowing what you know now, which path would you choose and why?

If you're an electrician or work in data, what are the realities of the job that people don't usually talk about?

Thanks

As a religious person, I'm genuinely wondering if all religions are human-made.

What are your top reasons for why all religions are made up and God does not exist?

Im a religious person, but recently I've been questioning all religions including my own, more than I ever have before.

When I look at the world, I see thousands of different religions, all claiming to know the truth. Many of them contradict each other, yet their followers are often just as convinced as I am.

That makes me wonder whether they're all simply products of human culture rather than divine revelation.

At the same time, I find it difficult to let go of the idea of God completely. I don't think I could honestly call myself an atheist at this point, but I do want to hear the strongest arguments from people who are.

What are the main reasons that convinced you religion is man-made, or that God probably doesn't exist? Were there any particular arguments or pieces of evidence that changed your mind?

Can sellers change title after sold item?

Can sellers change the title after sold an item, I bought a bundle and im sure i read the title and description properly.

Checked it again after I purchased and the title says 1 item that was included now excluded.

In the description it still includes the time.

Seller has already sent the parcel.

Wondering what I can do?

Protective wraps for nitnem and pothi sahibs.

Sat kartaar!

Just wondering if anyone wraps their pothi Sahibs or nitnems in any kind of protective covering?

I'd like to protect mine from wear and tear, covers getting damaged over time, but I'm not sure whether those clear adhesive book wraps are a good idea or if there's a better option.

If you protect yours, what do you use? Any recommendations or photos would be appreciated.

Bless

Akaal.

Is My Plan Realistic?

Hi everyone,

I'm from the UK and I'm starting to think seriously about a long-term move to the USA, potentially in around 7 years.

My plan at the moment is to train as an electrician, starting with an apprenticeship and then gaining several years of experience in the UK before considering a move. I'm not looking for a shortcut or trying to move immediately. The goal would be to become qualified, build experience, save money, and then explore immigration options from a stronger position.

What I'm trying to understand is whether this is a realistic plan or if I'm overlooking major obstacles.

Some of my concerns are:

- How difficult is it for a UK-qualified electrician to work in the US?

- Would I need to retrain or start over due to licensing requirements?

- Which states are generally considered good for electricians in terms of pay, demand, cost of living, and quality of life?

- Is employment sponsorship common in the trades, or is it rare?

- Would it make more sense to work for a large international company first and try to transfer internally?

- What immigration routes would someone in my position realistically be looking at?

At the moment I'm interested in places like Colorado, although I'm open-minded and still researching.

For those who have moved to the US, or work in the electrical trade, what advice would you give someone planning this far ahead? What are the biggest mistakes people make when creating a plan like this?

I'd rather hear the hard truths now than discover them years down the line.

Thanks.

On route to E-day

So I made a previous post saying I'm working my way through the Gears of War series as a completely new player until I get to E-day, and have never played any of the games before.

I decided to get Game Pass since it includes all the Gears games and would have cost me more to buy them separately.

For those of you who have Game Pass, do you think it's worth it in the long run? Do you use it enough to justify the cost? Do you have any sort of system for getting your money's worth out of it?

On route to E-day

After watching the E-Day trailer, I thought it looked like a badass game. I've never played the Gears of War series before, so I've decided that before playing E-Day, I'm going to start from the beginning and work my way through the whole franchise.

Any tips or advice for a first-time player? Is there a recommended order to play them in, and are there any games I should avoid skipping?

DWP missed PIP tribunal response deadline

Hi all,

My PIP appeal was accepted by HMCTS and I got a text to that said the DWP had to respond by 15 May 2026.

That deadline has now passed and I've had no update, response bundle or hearing date.

Has anyone else had this happen?

How late was the DWP response?

Did they get an extension?

Did anyone receive a revised offer before tribunal after the deadline had passed?

Just wondering if this is normal or if it could mean the case is being reviewed.

Thanks.

New to Nintendo Switch OLED Looking for Recommendations

Hi everyone,

I've recently been gifted a brand-new Nintendo Switch OLED from my sister. Long story short, she bought it for her boyfriend and then caught him cheating, so the Switch ended up with me instead. 🤷‍♂️

I'm not really much of a gamer these days, but receiving it has made me think about getting back into gaming. The last Nintendo console I owned was the original Game Boy when I was a kid, so I'm completely out of touch with the Nintendo world.

The console came with Mario Kart, Mario Wonder, Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu, FC25 and Mario & Luigi Brothership, which seems like a pretty good starting point.

Can anyone recommend some relaxed adventure games, RPGs, indie games or anything that's easy to pick up and enjoy? I'm not really looking for competitive online games, battle passes, microtransactions or anything like that.

Also, if you're a long-time Switch owner, what general advice would you give to someone completely new to Nintendo?

Thanks.

The stabbing of Henry Novak

As a Sikh who carries a kirpan, I believe the singh being found guilty today is the right result. His mother also shouldn't have interfered, as Singhs we take whatever comes with our actions if they are righteous with a smile. We dont meed to lie or have someone cover up our tracks this is punjabi thinking not Sikh,

If you cant use your fists and have to resort to pulling your kirpan in an argument you should not be carrying one.

Whether Novak was racist or started the altercation, you do not stab someone over words, show me any evidence in our ithiaas where any of our Gurus started a war or battle over words. Carrying a kirpan comes with huge responsibility and accountability. Its primary purpose is to protect those who cannot protect themselves, not to be used in anger or personal conflict. My prayers are with Novak’s family.

Whatever may come let it come. Hukam is sweet and my kirpan will stay by my side.
