I hated how they wrote Kelly in the BET seasons

Early Kelly was such a sunbeam to me 😭 she was funny, sweet, goofy and honestly very relatable. I really liked her character because she just had this good energy about her. Even when she was being messy, I could still understand where she was coming from.

Then the BET seasons came and they turned her into a whole reality TV star 😭😭. I was like what happened to Kelly??? The Ballers Wives stuff just did not feel like her to me. The cameras, the attitude, all the extra stuff. I know the divorce changed her and she was going through a lot, but they really took her character in a direction I didn’t like.

And when she came back in Season 7, I was happy because I did miss Kelly, but even then it still wasn’t the same Kelly IMO. And then they put her back with cheap ass Jason 😭 like WHY??? After everything that happened between them, I did not want them back together. I wanted Kelly to come back and actually have her own life instead of going right back to Jason.

I know people change, but I feel like they changed way too much about her. She was still Kelly, but that old bubbly, goofy Kelly was just gone. Early Kelly was one of my favorites and I honestly just wanted that version of her back.

What GH villain scared you the most when you first watched?

I’m saying Helena 😭 because she stayed popping up out of nowhere when I would watch GH with my grandma. I remember her always threatening people in Port Charles and putting curses on people, especially the Quartermaines. That’s actually one of the first things I remember seeing from GH as a kid since I was born in 1999.

But Helena stayed cursing them people lmao. Did anybody ever actually break one of her curses?? 😭

I’m not gonna lie tho, I do miss Helena being on my screen.

Which character do you think was the most unfairly written on Guiding Light?

I’ll say Harley, especially during those last few years. They really put this woman through EVERYTHING 😭. She went from divorcing Gus, dealing with the whole Daisy/Rafe/Natalia mess, getting involved with Cyrus, and then her finances got so bad that she was taking out a second mortgage and struggling to feed her kids.

And then after everything with Gus and Cyrus, she eventually just leaves Springfield and ends up in Greece. Like what happened to Harley??? 😭

I just hated how they wrote her during the show’s final years. She deserved so much better than the material they were giving her.

Moesha was really her worst enemy 😭

I’m rewatching “Good Vibrations?” and girl was really making this whole situation worse for herself 😭 She convinced herself that her boss was trying to sleep with her, confronted him about it, and then his WIFE shows up 💀

Moesha really had a habit of jumping to conclusions and then making everything ten times more awkward than it needed to be. Like girl, PLEASE 😭

I hated that episode where Spirit almost got assaulted 😭

I’m rewatching One on One and got to the episode where Breanna and Spirit go to that party and omg I HATED this episode 😭

The whole situation with Derrick and Spirit was so uncomfortable. Like he was really planning on having sex with her when she clearly didn’t want that, and Breanna and Arnaz had to step in.

And the crazy part is this started because Spirit was jealous that Breanna got on the Hottie List 😭 Like girl went to a party and ended up in THAT situation. I know it’s an early 2000s sitcom, but that whole storyline was way too uncomfortable for me.

What do y’all think about Monica’s The Makings of Me album?

Since the album is turning 20 years old in October, I wanted to ask what y’all think about it, especially for the people who listened to it when it came out. I finally listened to it from start to finish, and honestly, I think it’s a solid album, but it’s very different from Monica.

We all know she’s from the ATL, but this album sounds so hood 😭 This was also around the time when the snap music era was going on, and Monica really let that side of herself come out. I feel like people just wasn’t ready for this album, especially since it didn’t do as well as her previous albums.

My favorite songs are Hell No, A Dozen Roses, and I’m sorry y’all, but Everytime Tha Beat Drop 😂 I remember when the video premiered on BET’s Access Granted, and I still remember it vividly. I was only 6 when the song and album came out.

Overall, I’ve really started to love this album. Monica also looks so different on the album cover and in the photoshoot 😭

But what do y’all think about the album? And do y’all think it deserved better?

Which Nickelodeon TV movie from the mid/late 2000s do you still love?

I was going through some old Nickelodeon movies recently and forgot just how many of these I watched growing up 😭 This was such a fun period for Nick because they were constantly putting out movies and big TV specials based on shows or completely original stories.

Some of the ones that immediately came to mind:

The Jimmy Timmy Power Hour (2004)
The Fairly OddParents: Channel Chasers (2004)
Drake & Josh Go Hollywood (2006)
The Naked Brothers Band: The Movie (2007)
Shredderman Rules (2007)
The Last Day of Summer (2007)
Drake & Josh: Really Big Shrimp (2007)
Roxy Hunter and the Mystery of the Moody Ghost (2007)
As Told by Ginger: No Turning Back (2004)
Gym Teacher: The Movie (2008)
iCarly: iGo to Japan (2008)
Spectacular! (2009)
Mr. Troop Mom (2009)

There are definitely some I remember way better than others, but looking at this list really takes me back to watching Nickelodeon after school and getting excited whenever one of these was coming on.

Which one was your favorite growing up, and is there one you absolutely didn’t care for?

For me, Shredderman Rules and Drake & Josh Go Hollywood are probably the ones I remember the most 😭

Which soap character deserved to get exposed way sooner?

For me, it’s Brooke and Deacon 😭 I was waiting for somebody to catch their asses, or hear them like Bridget did. I still haven’t forgiven either one of them for that mess, even after 24 years. Brooke really slept with her daughter’s husband and then got pregnant with Hope by him. Like girl??? And Deacon knew exactly what he was doing too. That whole situation was so wrong on so many levels.

And how did they really think they were gonna keep this a secret when Brooke was literally pregnant with her son-in-law’s baby? 😭 I just wanna thank the baby monitor for exposing that truth because somebody finally caught them! Bridget should’ve never forgiven her mom for doing that.

Honorable mention: Katie from ATWT. She was messy as hell too, and when she finally got exposed at the Endicott Awards… 😭 Yeah, I was waiting for that too. She deserved that one. I was watching that storyline on YT.

Between Brothers (1997-1999)

I randomly thought about Between Brothers and realized I hardly ever see anybody mention this show. It started on Fox in 1997 and moved to UPN for its second season. It only lasted two seasons.

The show follows four longtime friends in Chicago as they deal with their jobs, relationships, family, and everyday life.

I found out about this show in 2015 when I was 15. I caught the reruns on Centric (now BET Her), and that’s actually how I discovered it. I had never even heard of it before then. 😭

The cast had Tommy Davidson, Dondre Whitfield, Kadeem Hardison, and Kelly Perine. I still can’t believe this show only got two seasons. With that cast, you’d think it would be remembered a lot more.

Anybody else remember this one?

Did anyone watched Between Brothers?

I found out about Between Brothers in 2015 when I was 15 years old. I remember seeing the reruns on Centric (now BET Her), and that’s actually how I discovered it. I had never heard of this show until I watched it. 😭 I was always looking up old sitcoms and watching reruns, so I was surprised I had never come across it before.

The cast is what really caught me too. It has Tommy Davidson (he’ll always be Smokey Puff in Juwanna Mann to me 😂), Dondre Whitfield (I haven’t forgiven him for cheating on Tamala Jones’ character in Two Can Play That Game 😭), Kadeem Hardison (people may know him as Dwayne, but I actually remember him playing Fantasia’s father), and Kelly Perine (Oh, Duane 😂).

I can’t believe this show didn’t last long either. It was only two seasons? 😭 With a cast like this, I really thought it would’ve lasted longer. It’s crazy to me how little I hear people talk about this show, especially considering the cast.

Did anybody else watch Between Brothers, either when it originally aired or from the Centric reruns?

Did anyone watch Westside (NZ)?

I started watching Westside after finishing Outrageous Fortune and I honestly didn’t expect to get into it this much.

It’s kinda cool seeing the West family before everything that happens in Outrageous Fortune. It feels familiar, but also different since it’s set way earlier.

I also randomly realized I recognized a couple of the actors from the Power Rangers seasons, which threw me off a little lol.

For anyone who watched it, what did y’all think of it? Does it stay good throughout the whole series?

What year do y’all think BET had the best music programming?

I was thinking about BET’s old music programming and started wondering what year y’all think they were at their best. Between the shows, music videos, countdowns and everything else, what year had the best lineup to y’all?

Do anyone remembers Abby?

So I was watching an episode of Abby on YouTube and I had never even heard of this show before. 😭 Did anybody watch this when it was on UPN? I’m surprised I’ve never come across it before.

Which artist had the best year in R&B in 2006?

I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since 2006. I was only 5 going on 6 at the time, so I didn’t really know who was having the biggest year in R&B. I was just a kid listening to the radio and enjoying all the songs that came out that year.

Looking back now, 2006 was a really good year for R&B. A lot of artists were dropping hits and having moments that people still remember today.

For me, I think the conversation comes down to Beyoncé and Ciara. Beyoncé had B’Day, which was a huge era for her (and she was screaming a lot in that era 😆), while Ciara had The Evolution, which showed her growth and gave us some of her biggest songs.

But there were a lot of great artists that year, so I want to hear everyone’s opinions. Who do y’all think had the best year in R&B in 2006? What songs or albums from that year still stand out to you?

I hated how Mona got criticized

Every time Mona was brought up on Half & Half, it felt like she was always getting criticized. People were always judging her hair, her personality, and even questioning whether she was “Black enough.”

I hated seeing that because Mona was her own person. She didn’t have to fit into someone else’s idea of what a Black woman should be. She had her own style, her own struggles, and her own identity.
