6/19/2026: Super wiggly and very affectionate. Walked on a semi-tight leash while eagerly trying to greet another puppy. Became excited and jumped up, accidentally landing on the puppy due to his much larger size. Quickly redirected and continued walking calmly afterward.

6/29/2026: Ms. Sandy was calm, quiet, and relaxed in his kennel. He was easy to leash, walked well on a loose leash to and from the runs, and kept his kennel clean.

🚑 Medical Notes:

6/12/2026: Possible bilateral entropion with green eye discharge. Treated with Gentocin eye drops for a suspected corneal scratch. Weighed 46.0 lbs. Vaccinated (Rabies, DA2PP-V, Bordetella), dewormed, and given flea prevention. Heartworm test: Negative.

6/18/2026: Treated for widespread hives with a diphenhydramine (Benadryl) injection and placed on medical observation.

6/19/2026: Continued monitoring for hives affecting the head and back legs.

6/20/2026: Hives still present on rear legs; continued treatment.

6/24/2026: Hives remained despite Benadryl treatment. Skin lesions had scabbed but were easily irritated. Started on Cephalexin for 14 days.

6/28/2026: Developed nasal discharge, huffing, and sneezing. Diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (CIRD) and started on Doxycycline for 10 days.

Bio:

Lally is a gentle, resilient dog who arrived at the shelter with painful wounds from a dog bite. Even after everything she’s been through, she remains sweet‑natured and hopeful, trusting the humans who are helping her heal.

Lally’s injuries require medical care that the shelter cannot provide long‑term. Because of this, she is at risk for euthanasia, not due to her temperament, but simply because she needs more support than the shelter can offer.

Lally urgently needs a rescue placement where she can receive proper wound care, a calm environment, and the time she needs to recover fully. She has already shown so much bravery and heart—she just needs someone willing to give her a chance to heal.

I was looking through recent new intakes and I came across Toby, so I added him to my "must meet" list because he's absolutely adorable. He's about 2 years old, sweet as pie, and has the calmest, gentlest demeanor. If you love a bigger boy but want a total gentleman, Toby is your guy. When he met another male pup, he was a little shy but non-reactive. And when I sat with him in his kennel, he couldn't stop smiling and wagging his tail. He's truly such a loving soul. Toby is also a Star Wars fan, so if you haven't watched the new Mandalorian movie yet, he said he'll bring the popcorn. Just don't be surprised if he falls asleep in the first 10 minutes 😂 he's a low energy snuggle bug who would love nothing more than lounging with his human. This sweet boy deserves a safe, quiet home and someone to love

I found a young adult female husky mix several weeks ago.  She has been to the vet and unfortunately does not have a chip.  We got her shots updated and had scheduled to have her spayed but had to cancel.  We are a large family in a small house (my older daughter moved back in with 2 kids) and as the dog relaxed it became very apparent she is not a good or safe fit with a baby.  She has not been aggressive at all, but she needs a lot of training, is very high energy and has no concept of personal space.  She is currently living outside except in extreme weather.  She has access to a covered porch with fans and clean water but I feel badly for her.  She could be a great dog for someone that has the time and space to train her.

If you only read Panda’s intake reason, you might never know who he really is.
Panda came to BARC through a police confiscation case involving loose dogs and an owner being arrested.
But the dog described in his shelter notes is not a bad dog.
He’s a dog who wags his tail.
A dog who walks nicely on leash.
A dog who keeps his kennel clean.

Panda has been at the shelter since June 1st, and his notes paint a picture of a remarkably easygoing dog.
He walks on a loose leash. He relaxes quietly in his kennel. He greets staff calmly and politely. He keeps his kennel clean overnight.
Most recently, staff described him as having a relaxed body, wagging tail, and soft smiling mouth. As he returned from the runs, he became wiggly and performed happy little “tippy taps” with his feet.
Think about that.
While sitting in a shelter kennel, uncertain of his future, Panda still finds reasons to be happy.
He still gets excited when people come to see him.
He still believes good things might happen.
But time is running out.
BARC has stated there will be no extensions for dogs on the Saturday, June 20 euthanasia list.

05/23/26 18:41 : Os cloudy appears to have mild green discharge hair matt directly beside/in eye.

5/24: patient is a senior dog that has been severely neglected

severe matting all over and extremely long nails

once the face was exposed - noticed she had a small cyst on the upper medial left eyelid - using #15 blade removed and cauterized the lesion

mature cataracts bilaterally

she has large breast cancer lesions in several breasts

both ear canals were occuluded with dried materaila nd hair to the brim - removed debris - negative for mites

recommend hospice rescue

linear scab on dorsum of the lumbar region thats healed that lines up with the

on its face that appear to be older..

A: Open wound- DDX: Bullet exit wound, linear tool or weapon injury

P: Clip and clean wounds, Keep separate from dog he was found with since its

been licking the wound. Cephalexin 500mg, 1 capsule PO BID x 14 d //

Carprofen 100mg, 1/2 tab PO BID x 7 d // E- Collar if necessary. Do xrays

tomorrow if possible.
