Is Seth on vacation all summer this year?

This is the third week in a row that he's in reruns, and apparently he's in reruns next week as well. As far as I know, he doesn't normally take off this much time during the summer. Did NBC give him the whole summer off like Jimmy Kimmel has?

I wonder if anyone can help me identify a Christmas short from the 1980s that I had on VHS

I've been racking my brain, and trying so many different ways to search for it online. I've tried simple searches on YouTube, to very detailed descriptions on AI, but I've had zero luck. I also tried asking on the Christmas subreddit, but could not find anyone who knew so I figured this sub is my next best option. It's a longshot, but I'm hoping someone who was a kid (or around) in the 80s would have also had this VHS and will know what I'm talking about.

Description:

  1. It was released on VHS in the 1980s

  2. It was a short video, probably around 5 minutes long, and it was the only thing on the cassette (it was not part of a larger movie)

  3. It was a professionally released video, not a home movie

  4. It was not a commercial/advertisement, but it may have been released as a promotional video for a greeting card company or some other Christmas-product manufacturer

  5. It was family-friendly

  6. It was not animated or claymation, it featured real actors, and little people as the elves.

  7. The story is that the elves are "cool" and they want Santa to learn how to be cool as well. Santa ends up delivering presents in a sports car (most likely red), while the song "Little Saint Nick" by the Beach Boys plays in the background.

I seem to remember at the very end, he's in a house delivering gifts, and he says something to the camera as he's eating cookies and milk, then presses the side of his nose, and possibly winks at the camera as well.

I somewhat remember a line that one of the elves says, something like "be cool, it's the 80s!" or "relax, it's the 80s!"

I don't know why, but the phrase "Yuletide Classics" comes to mind when I think of it. Those words may have been printed on the cardboard sleeve, but it's also possible that I'm confusing that phrase with something else. The sleeve itself was mostly black, and had a picture of Santa on it, or possibly the red sports car, and may have had gold writing.

Does anyone have any idea what this was?

Looking for a head shaver that can get behind the ears

I was looking at the Philips Norelco Pro 5000 Head Shaver, but the reviews say that it doesn’t do well behind the ears due to the wide plastic edges. Does anyone know of something similar but that has narrow edges so that it can get into tight spots such as behind the ears?

It's hard to believe my 5 years of Game Pass is up already

In 2021, I did the conversion method to get a good price on Game Pass Ultimate. Then I did it again in 2024. But now it's expiring next week and the conversion method is no longer a good value like it used to be so I can't justify renewing it.

I'll probably end up doing what others do which is just paying for one month when a new game is added that I want to play and save money that way. I had a good run, but it's sad that it's over already. I feel like I just signed up. The time sure flew by.

These two videos just appeared one right after the other in my YouTube suggestions

Does the Panasonic ARC5 really offer a closer shave than a basic Philips Norelco shaver?

I usually buy a typical $70 shaver by Philips Norelco, and while it works well, I do always have a little bit of roughness left behind no matter how many times I go over my face, and especially my neck.

I recently heard about the Panasonic ARC5, which claims to offer a very close shave. Is it truly that good? I'm willing to spend the extra money if it means I'll notice a significant difference in closeness, but I also don't want to waste $150 on something that won't be any better than something less expensive.

I would get the ARC6, which is supposed to be even better, but I can't afford $400 for a shaver.

Can someone please help me identify a Christmas video that I had back in the 1980s?

I had it on VHS, and I think it was only about 10 minutes long or so. It was live action as opposed to a cartoon.

The elves are acting "cool", and they're trying to get Santa to act cool, too. At one point, one of the elves says something to the effect of "be cool, it's the 80s!" or "relax, it's the 80s!" Then Santa delivers presents in a sports car while the Beach Boys song Little Saint Nick plays in the background.

I tried searching Google, but I couldn't find it. I feel like there's a good chance it's on YouTube, though, if I could just remember what it was called or which company released it.

Does the extra content with the Deluxe Edition actually help in the game or are they just fun extras?

For example, do any of the items actually help make any missions easier?

I really lucked out on Monday with an A16 model

About a week ago, I had set a price alert on Amazon for a price drop on an A16. To my surprise, I received an alert on Monday that the price had dropped to just $326.99 USD.

I had bought one as a gift at the end of May, and I wanted to pick one up for myself recently, but by the time I wanted one, the price had increased to $450 which I didn't want to spend.

The price on Amazon didn't last very long because it was sold out about 10 minutes later, and when it came back into stock, it was back up to $450. I really got lucky. Did anyone else happen to grab one while it was on sale?

Pluto TV settings on Roku Stick

I've been watching Pluto TV on the same Roku Stick for years, and Pluto has always automatically started streaming my last channel as soon as I open the app. Today, I switched to a new Roku Stick, and it's not auto-playing the last channel like my old Stick did. Instead, it takes me to a home screen.

I tried to find a setting that would control this, but I couldn't find one. Does anyone know if this is something I can control?

How can I swap the d-pad and the left joystick on N64?

I'm playing a game (WCW/NWO Revenge) where the default controls use the d-pad for movement and the left joystick for taunts and I'd like to swap them because it would be easier to use the joystick to throw my opponent into the corners.

Is there a way to swap them? And if so, can I do it just for this one game?

Can mods such as SNME and Starrcade be played on a Steam Deck?

I've never used a mod before, but I loved the old THQ/AKI games, and I would like to try some of them. I don't know that my PC is strong enough so I'm wondering if they'd work on a Steam Deck instead.

And if so, are there any installation and setup guides online?

Help: Trying to decide between a laptop and an iPad

I'm essentially trying to choose between a HP OmniBook X Flip 16" 2‑in‑1 Laptop and an Apple iPad (A16) 11-inch Wi-Fi 256GB (2025, 11th generation).

Both devices are currently on sale for $500 USD so price is very comparable.

I've never had a flip laptop before, but it seems like the keyboard on this can be folded behind the screen so it can also be used like a tablet.

I don't know anything about specs, so I have no idea how they compare in terms of power and reliability. Can anyone help me understand this more?

I'm also wondering which device would be more secure and safer against viruses, malware, etc. I'm guessing the iPad would be the better option in this regard, but please correct me if I am wrong.

The other pro with the iPad is that I believe it would have a better app store than a Windows device.

I'll gladly welcome any feedback and opinions on these two machines to help me make a good, educated decision.

Does anyone know when the iPad sale at BJ's Wholesale Club ends?

I see that they are having a sale on the A16 model, but I can't find any information on when the sale ends. I looked on their website, I tried asking their Bev AI agent, and I tried calling my local store, but nobody seems to know the answer. I'm hoping someone here may know.

OnePlus 15 or Pixel 11 (standard model)?

Country: US
Carrier: Tello

I think it's time for me to upgrade to a new phone (current phone is a Galaxy S20+), and from what I've researched, it sounds like either the OnePlus 15 or the Pixel 11 are best for me.

Features most important to me are long battery life, fast charging, and a large screen. I'm somewhat leaning toward the OnePlus 15, but I've read that it can get hot and that the Pixel 11 is known for maintaining cooler temperatures, which is also important to me. I also like the fact that the Pixel 11 offers a cleaner system (no bloatware, etc.).

They both appear to be the same price at $899 USD so no clear winner in this regard.

Is there anything else that I should consider when choosing between them? Any pros and/or cons to either device?

I'm also open to other suggestions.

My employer is trying to force me to use AI and I don't like it

I've been with the same company for over 5 years now and I've always done great work on my own (i.e. without the use of AI).

Recently, they've been trying to force employees to find ways to use AI and I am not happy with the decision at all. It's one thing to use AI to help me with my work, but they are asking people to find ways to use AI to do their work for them. Metaphorically speaking, I feel like they are handing me a shovel and asking me to dig my own grave in which they plan to bury me in later on (i.e. lay me off). They've actually done massive layoffs multiple times in the last couple of years which is why I have reason to believe that this AI initiative will ultimately lead to more layoffs.

I've communicated my concerns with my supervisor, but they either don't see the writing on the wall or they know where this is heading and don't want to admit it openly. It seems like every other day I read about companies doing massive layoffs, undoubtedly due to the rise in AI, so I'm not sure how my supervisor could be oblivious to this.

I'm looking for some advice on how to handle this. I don't want to lose my job because I've enjoyed it until recently, but I refuse to just lay down and let AI take over my life. Has anyone else experienced something similar? If so, how are you handling it?

Quick question about the collectibles

I've completed all main missions (except for the very last one), side missions, and prepper stashes. The only things I haven't done are the collectibles (lighters, cheeseburger statues, etc.) and I'm debating whether or not to do them before doing the final main mission.

If I do them, will it help me at all when I play New Game Plus mode? I'll probably do them if they will somehow benefit me on my next play through, but I'll probably skip them if not since they won't help me in my current play through.
