How to implement swimming into a weightlifting routine?

Hey guys,

I’ve started taking up swimming to help with my surfing fitness on my off days. I typically follow a push pull lower split. Sunday/Saturday I surf all day. Unfortunately this routine combined with work makes it very hard to find time to go swimming. I’m open to dropping back the weightlifting or doing whatever I need to in order to have a decent fitness routine that includes at least 2 days of swimming.

Would like to see what routines other people have. I’d also like to see some anecdotal stuff on people who may have just quit the gym entirely and focused on calisthenics + swimming.

What happened to this part of my wetsuit?

Noticed it after I got out of the water. It’s a new wetsuit so surely it hasn’t broken 😅

Is this a common issue that can easily be fixed?

Strength in the gym has skyrocketed in the last year but not looking any different?

Have dropped my calories to 2000 and seeing better results. I think I’ve got decent size but my muscles are still covered by a decent layer of fat. Worried that if I cut any more than 2000 calories I’ll start losing muscle as well…

I’m lifting the heaviest I ever have at the gym, which is frustrating because the results are barely visible.

Do flat curbs twist and link like small Cubans?

Gonna buy a 4mm flat curb for a daily chain I can wear to work etc

Just worried at that size it’ll kink and twist around like small Cubans do.

How to work swimming into a PPL gym routine?

Gym rat here looking to add swimming to my routine. My current routine is as follows

Day 1 - Push Day
Day 2 - Pull day
Day 3 - Leg day or 30km cycle (whatever I feel like on the day)

I usually take Sunday and Saturday off to surf or for a full rest day.

Does anyone here do a ppl routine at the gym and swim as well? I’m wondering if I should swim on back day.

How do the 2mm/2.5mm Franco’s look in real life?

Looking for a classy, subtle daily chain that I will wear tucked in. I usually wear fairly thin chains. I currently rock a 5mm flat curb and it’s the thickest I would wear personally.

Not looking to rock a pendant, but will in the future. It will be a solitaire chain for the moment. I understand bigger is better in this sub but I’m worried the 3mm will look way too big and I won’t wear it. I don’t have a loud personality.

I’m so happy I quit Bunnings

Not much else to say but I just had to get it out. The ridiculous changes in store culture, managers making sure shit flows downstream to floor staff. Also the new KPI rule can get fucked.

If you shop at Bunnings, do us a favour and refuse to pay with the Bquick/mobile docket. The more that customers refuse the mobile dockets, the quicker the higher ups will realise it’s a pointless exercise.

I’ll never look back.

Undecided on my first chain

My current short list

4mm Cuban

3mm rope DC

3mm Franco DC

4.5mm Figaro 18k

2.5mm Franco

Looking for a simple subtle chain that isn’t going to draw too much attention. I don’t want it to be too thin either…

No pendants as it will be a solitaire chain

Quitting the gym and just focusing on cardio?

Gday everyone,

6’2 Male 100kg (220lb) roughly 25% body fat.

I know this is a beginner sub but I have been going to the gym for 4 years now. I’m very happy with my strength gains and have love the ability and experience the gym has given me. Although I feel like I’m at the stage where I am keen to move on from the gym and transition into focusing on cardio and exercise based activities. I would love to get better at swimming as it would translate well with me learning to surf. I would also love to lose some weight and get down to around 170lb, which would help tremendously with swimming and surfing. I’m currently eating at 2500 calories a day which has been slowly dropping my right.

The goal here is to build a routine that will let be become very fit and healthy, rather than just for looking “big and muscley.” I am open to keeping the gym if someone could give some tips and advice on how to work it in to my routine.

I have devised a bit of a plan, would like to know what everyone thinks and how you might adjust this plan if it were you.

Monday -

Morning - 10k step walk

Afternoon - Pushups, dips, handstand pushups, incline pushups

Tuesday -

Morning - Swimming (unsure what type, just keen to do a bunch of different strokes and learn what is best for exercises)

Afternoon - Pull-ups, chin ups, dumbbell bicep curls

Wednesday -

Morning - 30k cycle

Afternoon - calf raises and some bodyweight squats

Thursday
Morning - 10k step walk

Afternoon - pushups, dips, handstand pushups Muay Thai training

Friday

Morning - Swim

Afternoon - pull ups, chin ups, dumbbell curls

Saturday - Rest

Sunday - Surf
