Went to Lowe’s and was admiring these dried out pieces of crap. I feel sorry for the sucker who buys these.
If this was released in 2002 rather than 1977 it would’ve have won a ton of awards spawned a million memes and Dennis would have been hailed a genius. Instead it languished because it wasn’t the Beach Boys, Disco, Hard Rock, Yacht Rock, nor California Rock (despite a lot of it about California). Now only old white guys (like me) champion it.
If you’re not familiar with it you might have heard Rainbows in the umbrella scene in DTF St. Louis.
I think the only thing that really dates it is the harmonica on Dreamer.

I went to the ballpark the other day and recognized the song from the first couple of notes as Cal Raleigh was walking up to bat.

Watching out for ICE
It seems like this would lend itself to bluegrass. Has anyone heard it played it that genre. There seems like there are a million covers and 10,000 karaoke versions but no bluegrass.

Back in the day in the back of magazines there were all sorts of dubious ads. Draw the pirate , parrot or Tippy the turtle, get 250 army men in the 4”x2”x2” Bo’s ( bought this one despite my dad’s disapproval), 29 records or 8-tracks for a penny, and mail in you song poem and well put it to music and send you the record.
After the Smile debacle, Brian went off the deep end and lost the muse. Desperate, he took some of these song poems and used it to round out the albums. The first time was Busy Doin Nothin. I mean seriously. This sounds like if someone took my parents rambling emails and set it to Muzak. Brian got away with it. No one complained and no one noticed.
By the time they got to Love You, Brian did have anymore Smile session songs so he just did all song poems. Johnny Carson is in the same vein as Jimmy Carter Says Yes or Richard Nixon. The Solar System
Is on par as Convertibles and Headbands and Love is a Woman is comparable to Blind Man’s Penis (Peace and Love)
The Da Da-esque album was really a rip off of the common man.

On another thread someone mentioned Spouts has Cashew Milk Ice cream so I ran out and bought some. Well my lower GI has been, um, off. I decided to look closer at the ingredients and there was another nemesis, chicory root. I stopped eating Go Lean Crunch because of this crap.
