[l] Struggling with chronic illness and grief.

I would like someone to talk to about what I’m going through. I am 40 and dealing with health issues. I have lost both of my parents.

I (40F) got diagnosed with Crohn’s disease recently after a lot of years of thinking it was just the worst IBS-C. Did you all get the recommended vaccinations before starting a biologic for IBD treatment?

I’m scheduled to start Skyrizi.

Another update: Today the IBD specialist diagnosed me with Crohn’s disease. Unlike the other doctor, she did not think that additional diagnostic testing was needed for confirmation.

After the completion of extra bloodwork ordered by the IBD specialist, I plan to begin treatment with Skyrizi, a biologic medication. Thank you all for your comments on my prior posts!

Update: My biopsy result was inconclusive as to whether I have IBD, but the presence of inflammation suggests it isn’t just IBS. I tried a steroid my doctor prescribed; it didn’t help. Next week I’ll discuss with a different doctor the possibility of another test to get more info. I’m not giving up!

This post is a follow-up to my previous post about not being sure if I have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), after many years of assuming (based on my symptoms) that my problem was unusually severe Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). The biopsy result from my colonoscopy was essentially a “maybe” as to whether I have Crohn’s disease, while some other test results are suggesting “probably yes”, hence the need for additional testing to clarify my medical condition. The official diagnosis of Crohn’s is needed in order to have access to certain medications, which might help me more than the steroid medication that I recently tried.

It’s National Vanilla Ice Cream Day in the USA. If you’re having vanilla ice cream, which toppings do you want?

Also, with which other foods does vanilla ice cream go well?

Edit: my mistake—it was July 23, not today (July 24). I’m sorry.
