I've bought an iphone se 2022 and compared the selfie camera to the latest and greatest iphone 17...and the iphone se had identical if not better results. Then I bought a 17 pro to make sure and same result. First photo iphone se 3 and second photo iphone 17

Secind tallest residential high rise in my small city, about 42 floors and 140 meters/450ft tall. It was the tallest in the country during many years. 1 apartment per floor, built in the 80s

My experience with the oppo find x9 ultra CN version after using it for one week:

I’ve bought it at wonda. Arrived in 3 days. I paid 1250 euros…for the 512gb version
Not cheap. For those who don’t like reading, not worth it that much.

This phone should be 1099 euros tops. Not because it’s bad but because it fails to bring a ground breaking world shattering new smartphone that destroys all competition like oppo made it to be on advertisement

First impressions, looked so much better and felt so much more premium than my find x8 ultra. I’ve loved the leather design…looked like a camera.

The screen, flat and felt better in the hand….colours seemed more calibrated compared to the x8 ultra.

Sound quality was pretty good…nothing amazing like iPhone 17 levels but very good.

What I was most impressed was battery…like damn. I felt a noticeable difference compared to my x8 ultra. Like a couple of hours more of use. Heck there were days I went out with 20% battery for a few hours and it lasted…like wtf it’s crazy.

Now, I was aware it was a CN version…and I honestly thought i could handle it.

Don’t get me wrong, the CN version from oppo is the most usable compared to vivo or other Chinese brands. Google wallet works, maps and so on.

However I don’t get eSIM support which bothered me a lot as in my country those are incresingly common.
I’ve also noticed my 5g signal was worse than my iPhone SE 2022 in some areas…like strange.

What bothered me about the system is the inability to 100% remove Chinese from the system. Like when I pulled down on the screen to search for an app…all in Chinese…plus no ai assistant that’s activated by voice like Gemini.

Plus the lack of customisation of icons bothered me a bit. My iPhone or my old google pixel 8 pro had loads of icon customisations.
Like apple lets you use themed icons and they apply to ALL third party icons. Same thing with my google pixel on android 16…
The themed icons on oppo were awful and didn’t work on all third party icons

So I used dark mode icons from oppo which was pretty decent but still not great

But now, the cameras…
On my oppo find x8 ultra I was actually quite disappointed with the cameras. The auto mode was pretty trash and gave me worse photos compared to even older iPhones or Samsung devices. Always overexposing and adding ai slop to images.

Portrait mode photos were way too overdone…options to disable ai were limited.

Well…the camera improved, I won’t lie, it’s a nice upgrade. I saw an improvement and sometimes I was impressed with what I got…
Like auto mode went from unusable to usable sometimes

The new 10x zoom camera on day its actually impressive….but well at night its just bad. Like bad worse than my old s23 ultra 10x…

Why? It’s not sensor, the s23 ultra had a worse sensor.

Example, whenever I had less than ideal light I turned on night mode to get a sharper photo at 10x…but heck it seemed the night mode only activated for like 1 sec…then final result was soft and full of ai slop…then I went to check settings…the phone cranked up iso over 1000…like it wasn’t doing the photo stacking properly…and stabilisation wasn’t good…

If I did it on master mode results were even worse as without photo stacking the sensor can’t handle iso over 800 without looking noisy and soft.

Low light, almost unusable.

The main camera I didn’t notice much difference in quality from previous phone but processing improved somewhat…

Ultrawide camera I actually noticed a good improvement and had decent photos. The x8 ultra had trash ultrawide.

The 3x camera was the strongest one here..always giving me wow results buuut

Oppo still continues with the same problem…AI SLOP.

Especially on people. On other things like landscapes and stuff improved but on people oh boy.

Whenever I tried to take a portrait, be it on portrait mode, master mode or even master mode and raw…I got ai slop. Oppo takes away all the skin texture of the person and lightens up their skin…they end up looking like wax figures.

I went out to a bar with a friend and took some photos of him, they all looked like ai generated portraits…all his facial features and texture were gone.
Heck even my old iPhone 13 or Samsung s23 gave better night portraits with more texture. Sure more noise but real texture and real people…not ai slop

It’s a shame because vivo kinda of fixed this with the raw lighting feature that takes away most of ai slop. I was using the vivo x300 pro before the oppo and the photos had much less ai although not perfect.
Plus vivo has a natural zeiss mode as well to improve all this

To freeze motion then…even worse. Even when shooting at 1/500 and low iso on a sunny day on raw oppo couldn’t freeze an old guy walking down the street without removing all his T-shirt texture and his skin texture. It looked weird. You guys can see some of those photos I posted in this sub a few days ago.

Freezing motion is even worse. I took a bus trip to another city and tried to take some landscape photos from my bus window…tried all modes and settings. Oppo just couldn’t freeze the moment, heck even on master mode on 1/1000 I got slightly blurry photos or on auto mode I got an over sharpened photo that was blurry but the phone tried to make it look like it’s in focus. I took my iphone 15 pro max and gave me much better and usable results. lol

If you want a tip, the less bad mode I tried and that I seen less ai was the hasselblad high res mode…it was ok, far from perfect but in good lighting it produced somewhat natural results

Video then…with main camera it was pretty good. Not amazing but good. Anything more than that tho…frequent exposure changes when moving camera, noise, softness…and stabilization is pretty bad with the 10x camera. My s25 ultra and iPhone 16 pro max gave miles better results and my vivo x300 pro had better video than all of them. Like the video from oppo looked like video from midrange smartphone.

Selfie camera was the only thing I was impressed. One of the best cameras I’ve tried. Much better than my old iphone 17 pro… for context I have a TikTok and YouTube channel where I review devices and I buy at least 1-2 smartphones every month. So that’s why I tried so many devices.

So at the end of the day while the cameras are better than the x8 ultra they still with the same problems and video looks actually worse compared to the x8 ultra.

So now, I paid 1250 euros…for a phone with half baked software that’s not made for global markets and half baked cameras with ai slop. With that amount I could buy a very good phone with very good cameras that in some situations are better than oppo and still have money leftover to buy a professional camera and lens used that will give me 1000x better results…

Ended up selling my oppo for 1350 euros and now buying an s25 ultra new for 850 euros. ( I already had that phone but trying it again for a review)

Saving up for the new Sony Xperia device that at least doesn’t use so much ai slop and looks like it finally upgraded its cameras to a nice level.

That’s my experience. No paid shill ads, no bs. I’ll probably do a video review in a few days.

Got this new beauty today. Using it along my iphone se 2022 and oppo find x9 ultra. Had the 17 pro before but didn't find enough value on the amount charged. This is the sweet spot

Why oppo does this? Taken on portrait mode...in the first photo the guy looks asian...he is Latin American and in real life his skin didn't look so white and smooth...what happened to texture? And yes that's the x9 ultra

s26 256b or iphone 17e? They are basically the same price in my home country, the 17e 50 dollars cheaper only. Both new. What would you buy? I don't want to spend 150 dollars extra for an iphone 17 base.

Some portraits with my x9 ultra...I have mixed feelings. During good light looks great but low light oppo destroys any details from the face...smooths the hell out of it..even an older iphone or Samsung retiwn more facial detail. Below examples

Master mode is good but useless in low light for portraits, the sensor is not large enough that I can take non blurry photos with at least 1/125 without going overboard on iso over 8000...

Anyone have the mp330 from edifier? I loved the design but the annoying handle that couldn't be moved was a pain and a sore eye, so I cut it off...anyone did the same? Sound wise, I'm loving it, an upgrade from my emberton ii from marshall

u/rodolphostech — 12 days ago

Comprei essa caixinha top da edifier...mp330. tava a tempos namorando ela. Curti a vibe retro mas ela vem com uma alça horrível que n da pra colocar atrás..aí cortei fora kk

Alguém tem uma igual? Tiraram a alça também?

Is the screen of the s26 ultra truly worse compared to the s25 ultra? Do the people getting headaches and nausea getting it because of pmw or?

In my country the s26 ultra costs about 1200 dollars while the s25 ultra is 1100 dollars new. My only fear is the new screen.

I had mine in march 2025 but thought the cameras were pretty mid and the 5x zoom camera was quite soft then sold it a month later. Now I got a deal in my country, the s25 ultra is coming to basically the same price as the iphone 17 base model. new.

The s26 ultra is only 100 dollars more but I don't like what Samsung did with the screen there.

Have the cameras improved from Samsung in this last year?
