Hey y’all 19 year old lad here, started last January so about half way through my second year being a domestic electrician and have just had to put my apprenticeship on hold for a while due to some serious health issues that are holding me back from going to work.

Being stuck at home really makes the head run. Learnt heaps so far but still feel like they’re so much to learn especially with switchboards, faults finds and just stuff that requires real problem solving skills and thinking outside of the box. Haven’t been going out on my own yet so I’m not even sure how I’m going to go with that.

Sometimes I wonder if this career is going to be right for me and what pathways it might lead to. I do love being a domestic electrician and I am beyond passionate about my job but I always wonder what’s going to be next after my apprenticeship. I always hear amazing high earning roles people fall into in the electrical industry and it makes me wonder if I’ll ever get there.

Just sucks when you’re so passionate about something and want to succeed in but you can’t because your health is holding you back.

I personally believe The Count of Monte Cristo is the greatest piece of storytelling ever made in any medium ever. Amazing book.
