Why does wealth inequality here feel bigger than it is?
[IOS]Why did reddit make the toggle pop up menus so unresponsive????!!!!
This is clearly a new update as it’s only happened for a few days or maybe weeks. This is the only app on my phone that has this problem. I’ll put my cursor in the box and I’ll double tap so the pop-up venue comes up and I can paste or copy whatever words I want.
And I’m just sitting here tap tap, tap tap tap tap tap tap tap . The menu doesn’t pop up. I open another app to tap and boom, the menu pulls up.
Whatever software update was done, please undo it . It’s incredibly annoying.
u/onetwoconnect is a genius, let’s exchange hometown stickers/keychains on the tour!! 🥹
u/onetwoconnect made a recent post asking if they could bring things to the concert to give out to fans. It’s a genius idea.
And it made me think how fun it would be if everyone brought a sticker or keychain or something from their hometown to share with each other. And we would all walk away with these things from different places across the country/world.
What do you think?
It would be a reference to ‘Ain’t in LA’!!!
Manager got promoted to director and his wife got monetary reward for ‘taking care of the kids’ 🤢
I like the the guy who got promoted. He’s empathic and efficient. But I’m so annoyed!
We had a ‘change of command’ meeting where the senior vice president had a speech about the job, the person being promoted, and the changes coming. The new director invited his kids and his wife to come, which is understandable. It’s a big event for him. But towards the end of the speech, the senior vice president started talking about the new directors wife. About how his wife create a safe home for him. About how she cares for the kids when he’s out of town. SVP talked about how the wife and the kids made it possible for the new director to be successful in his career. Then he gave the wife six months of spa stays for being so helpful with the kids while he’s traveling.
I cannot ever again listen to a parent talking about their career being held back by parenthood. That’s just not an honest statement. Every circumstance is different, and there are plenty of employers who give parents more benefit.
Parents prefer parents and give parents extra as a reward.
Edit:
upon reflection, I see this happened because the senior vice president was trying to make up for past mistakes.
New director had been a program manager at the company and was hired to take this director job after relocation. But when new director joined, plans changed in the company and he didn’t get the role he was promised. When the role opened up again instead of promoting him into it, they opened it for applications. They talked to an outside candidate for the role Months before they decided to open it. They offered the job to an outside candidate first, who rejected it.
So new director only got the job because he was the second choice. And I think the SVP realize he should’ve given the job to the new director in the first place. So SVP probably felt bad. Everyone in the office is delighted with the promotion. SVP struggles a lot with conflict and deals with a lot of guilt. So the SVP was trying to manage his personal guilt at not being a good leader and not giving new director what was promised, that he wanted to go above and beyond.
Since SVP is the one who shows prejudiced to non parents, he expressed his going above and beyond by focusing on family.
Tip for Visa holders: hiding your international education will not help you get a job.
My gov contractor cannot hire non citizens. And citizenship is listed on the job post as a requirement. And 90% of my applicants are candidates with recent masters degrees, and no bachelors degree listed.
I know why people do this. Visa holders think they are unfairly discriminated against. It’s not unfair, it’s legal. And I don’t need to see an international university to recognize international experience.
It’s a waste of time, and a quick way to get instantly rejected. Yes, if you have the name ‘George’ on your resume but only a masters from Northeastern university, you will be automatically rejected from jobs that require citizenship and non-citizenship jobs. It comes off as, ‘I can trick them and when they are ready to hire, they will give me a visa.’ It makes you seem untrustworthy.
That’s not how it works.
Canceled an interview due to bad online culture reviews. The owner immediately proved my point.
Applied for a Senior Property Manager position.
Before the interview, I did a quick deep dive into their online presence and how management responds to reviews—and found huge red flags.
I sent a polite, standard cancellation text letting them know the culture didn't align with what I was looking for. Instead of taking it gracefully or using it as feedback, the new owner hit back with a direct "you can't fire me, I quit!" energy.
Throwing in "I just purchased the company a few months ago" as an excuse for throwing a defensive tantrum to an applicant tells me everything I need to know about what working under them would have been like.
Dodged a massive bullet on this one.
This video is making me question my autism diagnosis, it claims ‘therapists are mislabeling cluster B as autism because the DSM4 spectrum is too vague, generic and wide.’ (Trigger warning, slight misogyny in vid).
How are we spared
Morality of willingly giving birth, knowing the inevitable dystopian future that is coming.
Or whilst struggling to accommodate personal needs, deciding to birth and raise a child on the borderline or during bankruptcy.
