I'm confused because the internet makes it seem like I'm hated and despised, but in real life, everyone I meet is kind and greets me.

I sometimes doomscroll Reddit and other social platforms. Every time I read horrible stuff about my ethnic group, we're literally called the most horrible things, subhuman, and worse with tons of likes and upvotes. Where is all this hate in real life?While working outside, random passersby greet me and smile at me. While going out with my friends, I get greeted, and random people come and dance with me. It kinda fucks with my head.

Anyone else get more annoyed by fake nice people than people who straight up dislike you?

I don't know if this is just me, but I'd rather have someone openly not like me than act friendly to my face while secretly talking shit or holding some weird resentment.

What really gets me isn't even the dislike itself. It's the fact that you never know where you stand with them. They'll smile, joke around, act supportive, and then you find out later they actually don't respect you or have been saying completely different things behind your back.

Maybe I'm getting older, but that kind of fake energy bothers me way more than honest dislike. At least with someone who's upfront, you know what you're dealing with.
