It's not you, the job market actually sucks here

At the bottom of the rankings, we found some familiar names. Salt Lake City and California’s Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario region both returned to the bottom four. Salt Lake has weaker hiring than all but one metro, as well as below-median wages and affordability. Riverside has lower college grad wages than all but one metro, and below-median hiring and affordability.

San Diego-Carlsbad, Calif., and Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, which straddles Oregon and Washington, rounded out the bottom four. Both offer relatively strong wages, but with some of the slowest hiring rates in our sample. Affordability, too, lagged. Even graduates who do land jobs in these metros face a tough financial tradeoff in the form of high cost of living.

Congress Wants You To Pay $130 A Year Just To Drive An Electric Car

>...the proposed fee "simply a punitive tax that would disproportionately impact adopters of electric vehicles, with no meaningful impact on maintain the HTF."

>Run the numbers, and you quickly see that the critics have a point. For starters, the federal gas tax of 18.3 cents a gallon hasn't budged since 1993, despite regular inflation and efficiency improvements in cars. According to research from Consumer Reports, the average American pays between $70 and $90 annually in federal gas taxes, far less than the EV fee.

>Plus, the nonprofit group argues, these kinds of flat fees are problematic because they don't account for how much a person actually drives. Seniors and people who only drive occasionally only pay $40 to $50 in gas taxes annually. "Fixed fees also shift the financial burden away from commercially driven vehicles, such as delivery vans, robotaxis, and rideshares, which can drive up to 10 times as many miles as a personal vehicle," Consumer Reports analysts said in April.

Justice Department announces nearly $1.8B fund to compensate Trump allies in a deal to drop IRS suit

  • The "Anti-Weaponization Fund": The Trump administration announced the creation of a nearly $1.8 billion (specifically $1.776 billion) fund to compensate allies of the president who believe they were unfairly investigated or prosecuted by the Justice Department during the Biden administration.
  • Lawsuit Settlement: The fund was established as part of a settlement deal to resolve Donald Trump's $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Trump had sued the agency over the unauthorized leak of his and the Trump Organization's confidential tax returns by a former IRS contractor between 2018 and 2020.
  • Additional Dropped Claims: As a condition of the agreement, Trump is dropping the IRS lawsuit and resolving his administrative claims seeking compensation over the Mar-a-Lago classified documents investigation and the probe into his 2016 campaign's ties to Russia.
  • Political Backlash: The creation of the taxpayer-financed fund has drawn swift and fierce condemnation from Democrats and government watchdogs. Critics, such as Rep. Jamie Raskin, have labeled it a "corrupt" and unconstitutional "slush fund" designed to enrich Trump loyalists, potentially including those involved in the January 6 Capitol attack.
  • Department of Justice Stance: The Justice Department did not name specific individuals who will benefit from the fund. However, they stated that there are no "partisan requirements" for applicants and that anyone who believes they were unjustly persecuted can apply for a payout and an apology. When asked if January 6 rioters would receive compensation, Trump stated it would be dependent on a committee's decision.

Trump Wants To Set Up $1.7B Fund To Pay Jan. 6 Rioters

Overview: President Donald Trump is reportedly considering dropping a $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in exchange for the creation of a $1.7 billion government fund. This taxpayer-financed fund would be used to compensate political allies who claim they were unfairly targeted by the Biden administration’s "weaponization" of the legal system—including many individuals charged in connection with the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Key Details of the Proposed Settlement:

  • Jan 6. & Political Allies: The $1.7 billion fund would pay damages to Trump supporters who assert they were wrongfully prosecuted or harmed, which includes the nearly 1,600 people charged in the January 6th insurrection.
  • Trump’s Compensation: The fund would also settle Trump's own $230 million legal claim against the Justice Department regarding the 2022 FBI search of his Mar-a-Lago estate and investigations into his 2016 campaign's alleged ties to Russia.
  • IRS Concessions: In addition to the monetary fund, Trump would reportedly require the IRS to publicly apologize for the previous unauthorized disclosure of his personal tax returns (the origin of his $10 billion lawsuit) and to waive a current IRS audit into his finances.
  • Legal Blueprint: The Justice Department is reportedly modeling this fast-tracked program after a historic 2011 class-action settlement fund (Keepseagle v. Vilsack), which previously compensated Native American farmers for systemic discrimination.

Backlash and Criticism: The proposal has sparked intense outrage from Democratic leaders and government ethics watchdogs. Critics are highly concerned about the ethics of a sitting president receiving substantial government funds from his own administration and distributing them to political allies. For instance, Senator Elizabeth Warren publicly condemned the move as an "insane level of corruption," characterizing it as a billion-dollar "slush fund" intended to reward insurrectionists while everyday Americans struggle with basic expenses.

Social media convinced people that normal skin is a flaw. Pores are normal. Social media just erased them.

We’ve reached a point where pores look ‘unhealthy’ to people.

‘Glass skin’ is an unrealistic beauty standard for most people.

Most “glass skin” you see online is filtered, edited, professionally lit, or heavily makeup-assisted.

Real healthy skin still has pores, texture, fine lines, and unevenness — especially in close-up photos and harsh lighting.

Social media has distorted what normal human skin looks like.

Social media filters and editing have made normal texture look “bad” when it’s actually completely natural.

It's easy to lose sight of this when social media is inundated with images of 'glass skin'.

Same filament, one printed at 0.56mm and the other at 0.20mm layer height, guess which is which?

The difference looks obvious but I can't figure out why.

  • 0.20 mm layer height uses 0.4mm nozzle
  • 0.56 mm layer height uses 0.8mm nozzle

Other than layer height, all other slicer settings identical.

The thicker layer height exhibits much more stringing?

Cailee Spaeny & Charles Melton read a random scene that they've never seen before

Sonny (Lee Sung Jin) had some alternative first drafts from the beginning of the season and has Cailee and Charles read it for the first time.

This really shows how amazing and talented these actors are, as well as, the people behind the show.

This is from the Beef podcast. Great watch if you haven't seen it yet.

Can't wait for season 3, Sonny!

Hooking up/connecting water to LG LMXS30776S fridge - LG says, "The hookup line cannot be white, plastic tubing" - any ideas why they would say that? I only have white plastic tubing coming from my Waterdrop RO water filter

Reference: https://gscs-manual.lge.com/CNZ/MFL68761307/en-us/main.html#topic_35

Ai says:

>The LG LMXS30776S refrigerator requires a 1/4-inch or 5/16-inch water line for the ice maker and water dispenser, typically connecting to a water valve at the bottom rear of the unit. Installation involves connecting a water line (copper or plastic) to the home's water supply and securing it to the inlet valve, often requiring a compression nut and ferrule.

LG's YoutTube support video shows them using a white plastic water line.

My Waterdrop water filter line is 1/4" white plastic.

Their official manual and official YouTube support video seems contradicting and confusing?

Any help clearing this up is greatly appreciated!

Installing an RO water filter under kitchen sink and notice corrosion on this BrassCraft dual-outlet dual shut-off stop valve, do you think it needs to be replaced?

The right valve controls the sink faucet and the left side controls the dishwasher hot water inlet.

The right valve opens and closes properly, but the left valve won't close, it's stuck. I didn't force it because I'm afraid it my break.

I should I replace this entire dual valve unit?

I asked ChatGPT and it couldn't confidently identify the model. Here's what it said:

____________________________________________________________

Your valve appears to be a BrassCraft dual-outlet dual shut-off stop valve, most likely from the CR1900/CR1901DV series.

Based on your photo:

  • It is a multi-turn style (round wheel handles, not quarter-turn levers)
  • It has:
    • two independent shutoffs
    • a PEX inlet on the bottom
    • two outlet connections on top/sides

That configuration is commonly used under kitchen sinks for:

  • faucet + dishwasher
  • faucet + water filter
  • faucet + ice maker

The closest matches are probably:

  • CR1900DV / CR1900DVX
  • CR1901DV / CR1901DVX

depending on:

  • straight vs angle configuration
  • exact inlet type
  • outlet sizes

One clue from your photo:

  • the bottom red tubing looks like PEX
  • so yours may specifically be a PEX barb/crimp inlet version rather than compression copper.

The green/white buildup visible on the body is typical mineral corrosion from a slow seep/leak around the fitting. You may want to replace it proactively if it’s old. Many plumbers now prefer the BrassCraft quarter-turn KT series because they’re smoother and more reliable long-term.

Should I follow its recommendation? Thank you!

This started happening recently. My setup is like this:

  • AMS 2 Pro > Buffer > filament input tube behind P1S

What's happening:

  • it pushes the filament in all the way until it get to the print head [0:40]
  • then, it stops and retracts?

Things I've tried:

  • disassembled print head to check for clogs - no clogs
  • disassembled buffer, looks normal
  • it's currently printing from the external spool just fine
  • spool is not cardboard

Not sure what else to look at, any ideas appreciated!

Thank you!

Not just in how they look (Asian guy, White girl couple, AMWF) but also their relationship dynamic.

They're couples who are technically together but emotionally out of sync.

In The White Lotus Season 2, Harper and Ethan presents as stable, attractive, successful—but underneath, there’s tension, insecurity, and unspoken resentment. One partner is more emotionally perceptive, while the other is avoidant or detached.

In Beef Season 2, Ashley and Austin operate similarly, just with more volatility. Instead of quiet discomfort, their disconnect leaks out as frustration, impulsiveness, or passive-aggressive behavior.

Also, Ethan and Austin are "nice guy" characters who both get accused of cheating by their respective partners.

Neither Harper nor Ashley has definitive evidence against their partners when they confront their partners about cheating. There's no "caught in the act moment," they both just let their insecurities spiral out of control.

And both women end up being wrong about their accusations of cheating.

Austin did feel like he fell in love with Eunice but that's after he had to endure Ashley's distrust, like their daily "phone checks" where she went through his phone, etc. But before that moment, he was completely loyal to Ashley.

BTW, White Lotus and now... BEEF are my two fav shows. Can't wait for their next seasons!

Lindsay goes to the restroom and laces Ashley's drink with poop from the toilet.

Then, there are a few scenes where she almost drinks it and finally she does.

But, after this pivotal moment, there aren't any consequences from her actions. She's just fine until the end of the show.

Does she have an incredible immune system or did I miss something?

Austin and Eunice talk on the phone.

Austin says, "I love you" 3x to Eunice.

Seems like Eunice is more pragmatically focused during the conversation.

She says, "I love you" back to Austin after the third time.

Why does Austin have a change of heart after that?

Why would Eunice say that if she didn't love him?
