The Big Unit also became one of only five pitchers at the time to throw no-hitters in both leagues, and the perfect game came nearly 14 years after his first no-hitter in 1990

On This Day in Sports History May 15, 2016, Rougned Odor and José Bautista’s infamous brawl

On this day in 2016, tensions between the Rangers and Blue Jays finally exploded after their heated 2015 ALDS matchup.

In the 8th inning, José Bautista was hit by a pitch from Matt Bush and followed it up with a hard slide into Rougned Odor at second base. Odor responded with the now-infamous punch to Bautista’s jaw, instantly causing a benches-clearing brawl.

The game featured multiple ejections from both sides, including Bautista, Odor, Josh Donaldson, John Gibbons, and several coaches.

Texas ultimately won 7-6, but the image of Odor landing the punch became one of the most iconic moments in recent baseball history.

The infamous pregame brawl between the Flyers and Canadiens erupted before Game 6 of the Wales Conference Finals in Montreal.

After the Canadiens crossed center ice during warmups and fired pucks into the Flyers’ net, Ed “Boxcar” Hospodar and Chico Resch confronted Claude Lemieux and Shayne Corson, sparking a chaotic bench-clearing fight before the game even began.

The Flyers would go on to win the game and the series 4-2 to advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

The brawl became one of the most legendary moments in Flyers history and led to major NHL rule changes that effectively ended bench-clearing fights in hockey.
