SKM extends solidarity with the student's protest at Jantar Mantar | The students and the youths are the children of the farmers, and the future of India; the struggles of students and youth are the struggle of farmers.

Press Release | 4 July 2026 | New Delhi

Samyukta Kisan Morcha extends solidarity with the student's protest at Jantar Mantar

Samyukta Kisan Morcha has extended its support and solidarity to the student's protest against examination mismanagement and paper leaks and for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The students have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for 15 days, while climate activist Sonam Wangchuk along with several students have been sitting on an indefinite hunger strike for 7 days. Yet, there has been no response from the Government.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha has always stood by the students and the youths in their demands for education and employment. The National Council of Samyukta Kisan Morcha had earlier adopted a resolution in support of the student movement for the resignation of Education Minister, Mr Dharmendra Pradhan, and against the scam culture brought in the education sector by the ruling BJP-NDA regime.

The students and the youths are the children of the farmers, and the future of India. Samyukta Kisan Morcha firmly believes that the struggles of students and youth are the struggle of farmers.

A delegation of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha will visit Jantar Mantar at the earliest in coordination with the Cockroach Janta Party to express its solidarity with the protesting students.

We appeal to the students, youths, farmers, workers, and common citizens to join the protest at Jantar Mantar and support its demand for accountability from the Government.

The latest salvo in the social media war on CF women

"The female body is optimized for pregnancy and childbirth/pregnancy and childbirth does not damage your body in the slightest. You're just scaremongering because you want to be irresponsible/be a slut/contribute to the extinction of the human race/be a rabid feminist lonely cat lady/<insert contrived excuse>"

Categorically false. In exchange for the ability to walk upright, evolution gave human female physiology only just enough capability to 3D print and deliver grossly underdeveloped offspring (mostly) alive, with little allowance for the toll it takes on the mother's body.

This is why human babies are born completely unable to fend for themselves, or walk, or eat solid food.

This is why human babies sometimes get stuck in the birth canal and require surgical intervention for successful delivery.

This is why pregnant women's bodies are often horribly weakened by the entire process of pregnancy and delivery and why so many women straight up die during childbirth.

If women don't want any part of that, that's no one's business but their own.

Extreme heat cost India’s farm workers 54 days of labour in the hottest year on record

Extreme heat cost India’s farm workers 54 days of labour in the hottest year on record

A UK-based analysis says extreme heat cost agricultural workers an average of 648 hours in the hottest year on record, with a possible Super El Niño threatening to push temperatures higher in 2026 and 2027.

Summary :

Indian agricultural workers lost an average of 648 hours, or 54 full working days, to heat stress in 2024, a UK-based analysis says.

The Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit found that total heat-related working hours lost across India’s agricultural workforce rose sharply over the past decade.

India ranked third among 15 climate-vulnerable countries studied for heat-induced agricultural labour losses, after Ghana and Vietnam.

A possible Super El Niño could intensify heat risks in 2026 and 2027, adding to baseline global warming and worsening conditions for outdoor workers.

The report warns that rising heat stress could deepen income insecurity, disrupt agricultural labour and affect food production.

Mumbai’s Tree Authority clears proposal to remove 1,080 trees for infrastructure projects

To pave the way for the MMRDA and MHADA ‘s ambitious infrastructure projects in Mumbai's suburbs including the Chedda Nagar to Anand Nagar elevated corridor and the Motilal Nagar redevelopment project, 841 trees have been identified along the project alignments.(File Photo)

Mumbai’s Tree Authority on Friday cleared proposals to fell 1,080 trees to pave the way for three development projects. While 621 trees are slated to be impacted as a part of the freeway extension corridor between Chedda Nagar and Anand Nagar in Thane, 220 trees will be razed to make way for the Motilal Nagar redevelopment project.

Additionally, 239 trees are poised to be affected as part of redevelopment projects in Bandra.

To pave the way for the MMRDA and MHADA ‘s ambitious infrastructure projects in Mumbai’s suburbs including the Chedda Nagar to Anand Nagar elevated corridor and the Motilal Nagar redevelopment project, 841 trees have been identified along the project alignments.

The proposals for removal of affected trees were tabled before the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s tree authority, this month.

At MHADA’s Motilal redevelopment project site in Goregaon, inspections by garden department officials — in December 2025, January 2026 and April 2026 — identified 1,761 trees of which 220 trees were earmarked in the project alignment. Of this, 89 trees are proposed to be felled while 131 trees will be transplanted to another location.

Meanwhile, along the alignment of the Ghatkopar’s Cheddha Nagar and Anand Nagar elevated corridor which seeks to expand the freeway and cut travel time between Mumbai and Thane, the tree officers surveyed 1,331 trees wherein 621 trees were identified in the project pathway. Earlier this month, in a letter dated June 10, the concerned authorities sought permission to remove the affected trees of which 218 trees will be permanently cut while 403 will be replanted.

After the tree authority’s session was adjourned on Wednesday, the members convened a meeting on Friday wherein approvals for the tree removal proposals -ere granted. However, the proposal for the felling trees along the Eastern Express Highway for the MMRDA’s elevated corridor project drew flak from members of the opposition led by Shiv Sena (UBT).

“The proposal along Eastern Express Highway was vehemently opposed by us as hundreds of trees will be completely eliminated. We questioned why there was a need to completely cut the trees instead of more transplantation as well as where the wood from the impacted trees will be taken,” Kishori Pednekar, Shiv Sena UBT corporator and member of the tree authority told Express.

Amidst opposition, members of tree authority cleared the deck for the removal of the trees by approving the proposals.

BJP’s Ganesh Khankar, who is a member of the tree committee and leader of house said, “While the tree removal proposal for Motilal Nagar redevelopment was not opposed, some members voiced their concerns over the felling of trees at Eastern Express Highway. However, the concerned departments made presentations about the need for the project and how it had been planned to ensure minimal impact for trees. The elevated corridor has been a long demand for locals and the development of the project will bring significant relief to commuters.”

"bUt WhO wIlL lOoK aFtEr YoU wHeN yOu'Re OlDeR?"

Found this post on r/childfree talking about how having children is no guarantee that they'll take care of you in the future and how so many people are utterly neglected and left to fester by the very offspring they expected would care for them.

I've borne witness to this myself in my own family in multiple cases. It's a solid and sobering thought in response to the question.
