M. Night Shyamalan's Trap has a high school level notion of psychology

Shyamalan never graduated to mature themes, didn't he?

Trap has a high school level understanding of psychology. The "profiler" is laughably an improbable individual who can precisely detect the exact behavior of an unidentified person in a concert event.

It cracks me up when the profiler would say something like "he's already running out of options" without having identified the murderer.

It was just too plain stupid.

FF8's world was just too distinctive

It was not a traditional high fantasy setting.

Neither was it a traditional sci-fi setting.

It was something close to the "contemporary world" with its TV satellites and broadcast stations and journalists and modern trains... but hold on... there are remnants of ancient civilizations... European countryside vibe, interspersed with retro future technology.

AHHH it's just so unique and distinctive and felt so different from anything I've seen in books, films, movies, and other games.

That's why I love the FF8 world.

HR should stick to scheduling and coordination, not hiring strategy

HR knows nothing about the technical work required of the position, so they should stick to scheduling interviews and coordination tasks. They absolutely should play no role in talent and hiring strategy.

It gets embarrassing when they try to assess "nuclear energy engineers" when they themselves are just interdisciplinary studies grads.

Judiciary should render mandatory community service in lieu of ULAS

Since judicial personnel claim they are conflicted in any aspect of ULAS, then they should render a mandatory community service in lieu of ULAS. They also need to render 60 hrs on top of their salaried work schedule.

"But community service should be voluntaaaaarryyyy."

Well, exactly my point.

38 and feeling dread about reaching 40 soon

I have an excellent business and good money. In my country, I probably belong to top 0.10% at the least and going to 0.01% in terms of wealth (yeah im in Asia so wealth disparity is extreme).

But look, I'm dreading about reaching 40 very soon. And I feel this dread every time I remember my age.

I'm the richest in my cohort (among those self-made and excepting those from generational wealth) but I still feel depressed about aging.

Badly need to play a JRPG centered on a dark tournament saga like in Yu Yu Hakusho

So here my out. I want a JRPG that is centered on a Dark Tournament Saga-like premise (see Yu Yu Hakusho).

Pure battles. No thick and complicated plot outside the tournament.

In between battles, you train and level up.

Is there anything like it? If not then BRB developing the game.

ULAS was invented by losers who never succeeded in private practice

ULAS is a result of unsuccessful lawyers who unleashed their resentment on rich private practitioners by requiring and burdening practitioners with free legal aid.

"Ayan buti nga sa inyo" is their mentality.

But deep inside it's rooted in jealous resentment for not having been a successful private practitioner.

Abolish ULAS

Do not render quality service to non-revenue clients.

Once you hit your mandatory quota, withdraw the case and drop the free-riding client.

Manage the case in such a way that you only need to do the mininum effort. Do not run the extra mile.

Convince all free-riding clients to just plead guilty.

If you're rich, then just use your kasambahays as clients.

Judiciary should not be exempt from ULAS. Why are they getting a free pass?

There are alternative ULAS obligations that judges and court attorneys can do that will not conflict with judicial functions.

They should not be charging and crediting their official time for "public service" bec. that's what the salary is for already. They need to have 60 hrs equivalent ON TOP of their official duties, just like everyone else.

I have built my own firm so I no longer have to deal with HR per se. But occasionally HR peeps call me in relation to a pooling of consultancy roles. I'm not desperate for this but if's part of engagement acquisition.

Still, these HR irritants robotically drill you through their usual HR-isms. Why are they so conspitated all the time?

I feel like these HR peeps don't know what the hell they're talking about and are so formal in their language on the phone, but at the same time you can sense that there is a Karen deep inside that could burst out at any moment they sense a thing to be offended at.
