Hey everyone, I could use some perspective here.

For context, I (skinny-fat man, about 6 months back into lifting after a long break) go to a local gym where there's this one guy who is massive, muscular, and clearly very dedicated. He is actually an inspiration and he comes almost everyday at the same time and spends around 1.5 hours working out.

Lately, I feel like I'm caught in some weird ego battle with him, and it's messing with my workouts. Sometimes I'm on a machine, he’ll come up and ask if I'm done. If I say I have a couple of sets left, he won't just walk away and come back—he literally sits or stands nearby, waiting for me to finish.

It makes me super self-conscious, and I end up rushing my rest periods and cutting my sets short just to get him off my back. I'm not a confrontational person.

The last day he crossed a line for me: to grab my attention while I was working out, he made a whistling sound to get me to look at him, then asked if I was done. I found it pretty disrespectful—he could have easily just said "hey" or "hello."

I feel he doesn't respect me because I'm skinny and not muscular like him.

I've been seriously considering changing my gym schedule just to avoid him entirely, but I'm torn on whether I'm just being too sensitive about gym culture or if his behavior is genuinely out of line.

Whenever I come to the gym these days, the first thing I look is whether he's there. Then I see what workout he's doing and I try to not do the same so that I don't have to overlap with him. Nowadays I even know his workout split and I'm able to plan my workouts around his.

On days he's not there, I feel a sense of relief. I guess a lot of this is just in my head.

How would you guys handle this? Should I change my timing to protect my peace, or is there a way to shut this down?

I already have been investing in nifty 50 index and ppfc for the last 3 years. I know they have a lot of overlap. I want to add a mid cap and a small cap fund along with this and maybe a gold fund along with it.

This is how my SIPs will look like

Nifty 50 Index: 30,000

PPFC: 30,000

Edelweiss mid cap fund: 30,000

Invesco small cap fund: 15,000

Sbi gold fund : 15,000

Age: 30

Risk profile: moderate

Investment horizon: 10+ years

I currently have SIPs in Nifty 50 and Parag Parikh Flexi cap Fund fund.

I want to add more funds to my portfolio and hence was thinking about investing in a midcap and small cap fund.

For midcaps I keep seeing comments about investing in midcap index as active index hardly beats the index.

For small caps, I see nippon being recommended but it has AUM it seems. Another one that I keep seeing recommended is Invesco smallcap fund.

My risk appetite is moderate and planning to keep investing for 10+ years

I'm a huge introvert and have some social anxiety. During my school and college days, I never tried texting a girl, let alone asking anyone out. A lot of it was due to family problems at home and my own insecurities.

I only worked for a year or so, then COVID hit and have been working remotely since then. So I haven't got much chance to meet people. There are hardly any girls in my office either.

One of the major plot holes people point out in Balan The Boy is why the mother didn't go straight to the boy immediately after escaping the house.

Recently met a Kannadiga who was speaking fluent Hindi, I asked him how he learnt Hindi so well and he said that he grew up watching cartoons on Cartoon Network which was Hindi dubbed.

I on the other hand grew up watching cartoons/anime in English dubbed, so was able to pick up English well as a kid.
