The small dog got to stay home. Senior Lucy got the shelter. Euth: Tomorrow 8/19 7am at Downey ACC in SoCal- her life can be saved with a foster or adopter. (Fostering is temporary and free) pls dm me, email Isabeldesiree8@gmail.com or text (657) 424-7580 asap

After 8 YEARS with her family, 8-year-old Lucy is now sitting in a kennel at Downey ACC.

Lucy was surrendered on 7/6/26 following a scuffle with a small dog in the home. Lucy now has a No small Dogs requirement.

But there is so much more to Lucy than that one piece of her history.

She lived with children ages 11–13 and was playful. She rides well in the car. She walks politely on leash. She knows sit and paw. Her favorite thing to play with? A BALL. 🎾

And shelter staff saw another side of her, too.

During her assessment, Lucy was nervous and somewhat concerned with handling—but once it was over, her entire posture softened. She sought engagement with the handler and even offered play bows.

And on 8/11, Lucy participated in playgroup. She was described as social and non-reactive, exchanged appropriate greetings with other dogs, played with them, and solicited affection from the handlers.

She is large-dog friendly, but needs a home without small dogs. Adults only or older children are recommended. Slow introductions and confidence-building would help her settle in and feel secure.

Lucy is 8 years old.

She spent eight years belonging to someone.

Now she’s waiting behind a kennel door, hoping someone will believe that her story isn’t over.

Please don’t let one incident become the only thing anyone sees when they look at Lucy.

Lucy #A5787598. 8yr-old spayed German Shepherd / Husky mix 56 lbs
No small dogs
Large dogs okay
Adults/older children recommended

Xanny #A5790607 4yr Male GSD 93 lbs.
Owner surrendered 7/21/26 due to landlord

Notes:
(Many dogs will be very scared during a assessment and will not show their true self until they are in a safe environment.)

Xanny greeted the runner nicely with a relaxed demeanor & was easy to leash/remove from the kennel soliciting petting during the process. He greeted the dogs at the barrier & was guided into the play yard. He allowed the dogs to gather & sniff him but appeared uncomfortable with face-to-face greetings. He became tense with the dogs around his face & moved away on his own. He continued to explore the yard sniffing various locations. As he explored he allowed the dogs to sniff his rear as he did the same then moved on. He approached the handlers a few times soliciting petting from them. He continued to roam the yard primarily keeping to himself or with the handlers. As he was roaming Xanny & another dog got into a scuffle. The handlers were able to separate them. The handler spent some time with Xanny. As they sat on the bench he approached & nuzzled their hand for petting & leaned into their hand. Xanny allowed the handler to examine his ears, mouth, abdomen, back, lower extremities, and tail without incident. He continued to solicit petting post assessment

Heartbreaking! Senior Lobo was abandoned by his family after 14 years and this is how his life will end! He will be euthanized tomorrow (8/7 7am) at Downey ACC in CA if no longterm foster or adopter will be found in SoCal. If you can help, pls DM me immediately or Email: Isabeldesiree8@gmail.com

14 years.
That’s how long Lobo had his family.
And then, after an entire lifetime with the people he knew and loved, they surrendered him to a high k*ll shelter.

Now Lobo #A5789645 is 14 years old, sad, alone, and visibly heartbroken. He is struggling in the shelter environment, and watching a senior dog like him deteriorate in this way is devastating.

He spends his last days on a concrete kennel floor, lying in his own urine and feces.

A 14-year-old senior German Shepherd.

He should be sleeping on a soft bed. He should be surrounded by love. He should be spending his final years feeling safe and cherished.

Instead, he lost his family and found himself in a shelter.

We don’t know how much time Lobo has left. But we do know that he deserves for whatever time he has remaining to be filled with dignity, comfort, and love.

Can you foster or responsibly adopt Lobo?

Please contact us if you can help:

Sweet Bowie, 2yrs old, shepherd/ Mal will be euthanized tomorrow morning(8/5) at Downey ACC in SoCal. Can anyone foster or adopt her? Out of state ok. Pls dm me or email Isabeldesiree8@gmail.com asap

I’M BOWIE…MY LANDLORD SAID I HAD TO GO… SO I LOST MY FAMILY. AND TOMORROW I WILL LOSE MY LIFE 💔

My name is Bowie. I’m only 2 years old.
On July 18, my family surrendered me because of their landlord. I went from having a home and a family to being alone in a shelter… and I’m struggling here.

I’m being kept in a lonely kennel out of public view… The shelter environment overwhelms me. I’m easily startled, and when I’m scared, I try to get away. I may bark defensively when I feel trapped, but when given time, patience, and a slow approach, I can settle. I allowed handling and a full exam without incident.

But I‘m just so scared and confused and don’t understand why I ended up here.. I don’t understand why my family left me behind..
I need someone who understands that fear is not the same thing as aggression. Someone patient enough to let me decompress. Someone willing to help me build confidence and learn that I’m safe.

But right now, I’m out of time.

🆘My final notice expired yesterday 8/3 and I can be euthanized any moment! Even today 🆘

BOWIE #A5790069
2-yr old female GSD, 60 lbs

Bowie is recommended for a calm, medium-energy home with no other dogs or someone experienced who can knows how to slowly introduce

Could you be the person who saves Bowie?

Can you foster or responsibly adopt her?

All the dogs in this video have been CLEARED for euthanasia at the Downey Animal Care Center located in Southern California - starting TOMORROW! Each of these dogs are insanely sweet, friendly, & happy to be alive; some are very scared but they have no idea the fate that awaits them. Their only „crime“ was being dumped at an overflowing, high k*ll shelter in SoCal. The only way that these dogs have any chance of making it out alive is by getting this video SEEN.
The easiest and best way we can do that is by liking, commenting, & sharing this video to our stories! You can also download it and post it to your local Nextdoor Accounts, Facebook, Reddit etc. - if you’re watching this and have been considering adopting a dog, NOW is the time. These dogs are literally on borrowed time and need saviors now.
Out of state adoptions are possible.

XENA
In playgroups She roamed the yard, keeping to herself as much as possible. She anxiously looked around for a way out of the yard before jumping on the table to avoid the other dogs. She was moved to the side yard with a small group of calm dogs, where she briefly greeted them before jumping on the bench to rest in the sun. She did not engage in play with the other dogs, but was able to coexist with a group of calm dogs with no issues.
She allowed the handler to pet her whole body with no issues.
She remained easy to handle throughout the assessment, and continued to solicit petting. No small dogs other large calm dogs ok

HERCULES
In playgroups Hercules received a muzzle prior to entering the yard due to his tense posture and growling at the dogs through the fence. Hercules was allowed into the yard, where he ignored the dogs, exhibiting a tense posture as he walked past them. He chose to stand next to the handlers, occasionally soliciting affection. For the rest of the session, Hercules remained next to the handlers, barking at the dogs when they came into proximity. Once the session concluded, he was separated from the group to begin the handling assessment. The handler was able to conduct a full evaluation without incident. Hercules was tolerant of handling of his ears, mouth, abdomen, and front legs. However, handling of his tail and rear legs became difficult as he shielded them in a seated position while observing the handler. He was returned to his kennel without issue.

Butterfinger is urgent at Downey ACC - Can you foster or adopt him (out of state ok)? Message me or Email: Isabeldesiree8@gmail.com Text: 657-424-7580

Butterfinger A5784854 isn’t acting like a dog who grew up on the streets.

He’s around 3–4 years old, beautifully groomed, healthy-looking, and appears to have been loved. The heartbreaking part is that he was found without a microchip, so his family may not even know where he is.

At the shelter, he’s terrified.
Every time staff takes him into the yard, he doesn’t play. He doesn’t relax. He searches every fence and every gate, trying to find a way out.

And the devastating truth is that he has every reason to be afraid.

🆘Butterfinger is scheduled to be euthanized in just a few hours.🆘

His life can still be saved, but only if we find an experienced German Shepherd foster and raise the funds needed for transport, training if necessary, and veterinary care.

A foster can be located anywhere in California, anywhere in the U.S., or even on the East Coast. Transport can be arranged.

Please don’t scroll past him.

If you can foster, rescue, pledge, donate, or simply share this post, you could be the reason Butterfinger gets the chance to leave the shelter alive instead of in a black trash bag.

If you can foster, adopt, or rescue Butterfinger, please act immediately. Even sharing his story could reach the one person who changes everything.

No one had come for Arlo. He has just 20 hours left to live. Euth 7/5 11am Downey ACC,CA - pls message me, email Isabeldesiree8@gmail.com or text 657-424-7580 if you can foster (temp & free) or adopt Arlo. Out of state possible

His to family chose to surrender him after he didn’t get along with their small dog.Instead of trying to fix the problem, they rather got rid of him..

🆘His final notice already expired.
His time has run out and he is scheduled to be euthanized tomorrow morning if no foster or adopter will be found 🆘

Arlo A5779814  1yr Male Shepsky 72 lbs.

Surrender notes:
Very attentive to things around, he loves watching birds, he loves stuffed animals and although he’s big, he loves to cuddle
He was friendly with larger dogs / a German shepherd in particular, but didn’t do well with smaller dogs
Playful with children, good in the car, pulls on leash and barks at other dogs on walks,
Knows commands: sit, paw, wait, take it
His favorite toys are stuffies and his favorite activities: tug of war and playing with stuffies

On 5/27/26 A5779814 climbed out of its enclosure and had an incident with the 3 year old Dachshund causing a little wound to the right shoulder.

The behaviors described today reflect the dog’s responses in a shelter environment. It may differ significantly from how they behave in a home.
Arlo (Intact) was at the front of the kennel with a calm demeanor when the runner arrived. He allowed himself to
be leashed with ease and then exited the kennel on his own. However, Arlo was barking toward his neighboring kennels,
with a tense posture along the way. Arlo was then allowed into the yard, where he stood with a stiff posture as he was greeted by some of the dogs. Arlo then
lunged toward one of the dogs but stopped when the handler intervened with a correction tool.
He was unable to coexist peacefully in the yard and was then returned to his kennel; however, firm leash guidance was needed as he refused to enter on his own.

Can you foster or responsibly adopt him?

Downey ACC,CA-Arlo’s family chose to surrender him after he didn’t get along with their small dog.Instead of trying to fix the problem, they rather got rid of him..And they authorized euth if the shelter couldn’t place him.Pls email isabeldesiree8@gmail.com asap if you can foster or adopt him

🆘His final notice already expired.
His time has run out and he is scheduled to be euthanized tomorrow morning if no foster or adopter will be found today 🆘

Arlo A5779814  1yr Male Shepsky 72 lbs.

Owner surrender notes:
Very attentive to things around, he loves watching birds, he loves stuffed animals and although he’s big, he loves to cuddle
He was friendly with larger dogs / a German shepherd in particular, but didn’t do well with smaller dogs
Playful with children, good in the car, pulls on leash and barks at other dogs on walks,
Knows commands: sit, paw, wait, take it
His favorite toys are stuffies and his favorite activities: tug of war and playing with stuffies

On 5/27/26 A5779814 climbed out of its enclosure and attacked the 3 year old Dachshund causing a bite wound to the right shoulder.

Due to his offensive behavior, Arlo could benefit from a
home without other dogs.

🚨Very urgent! Only hours left! Sanchez will be euthanized tomorrow morning (6/29) at Downey ACC in CA. Pls message me or email Isabeldesiree8@gmail.com if you can foster or adopt (out of state ok)

Sanchez was given a few minutes & he didn’t “perform” the way a “good dog” was expected to.
He didn’t do well with other dogs.
That one moment became a label.

🚨Now, instead of getting the chance to find the right home, he’s scheduled to be euthanized tomorrow morning.🚨

Sanchez #A5780931 3yr Male GSD 70 lbs.

The behaviors described reflect the dog’s responses in a stressful shelter environment. A dog’s behavior in a high euthanasia shelter may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement &unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out—or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog’s behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization &life experiences.

Sanchez was wearing a muzzle when the handler began the assessment. He approached the handler with a neutral body &allowed the handler to
pet his head, neck &back. When the handler tried to pet him anywhere else, his body tensed &he became extremely antsy. He laid down, rolled over, jumped up & tried to run away. He was difficult to restrain, but the handler was able to calm him down &continue petting his back. A dog happened to walk close to the catch pen at that point &Sanchez lunged across the handler while attempting to bite the other dog. He was still wearing the muzzle at this point.
After that the handler was able to remove the muzzle &return Sanchez to his kennel with no issues.

He was unable to coexist with the other dogsin the yard &has a medium energy level.

Sanchez just needs one person willing to love him for who he is &another chance.

He is being kept out of public view, so many of the people who could save him may never even know he exists.

Some dogs aren’t meant to live with other dogs.
That doesn’t make them unworthy.
And it certainly shouldn’t make tomorrow their last day.

🚨 Sanchez urgently needs a foster or adopter.
• No other dogs
• Shepherd experience preferred
• Anywhere in the USA

Social Conan is very past deadline and may not survive tomorrow at Downey ACC (CA/ Euth: 6/27 5pm)if no foster or adopter (out of state ok) and rescue will be found today! Message me or Email: Isabeldesiree8@gmail.com if you can help.

His final notice expired 6/13!
Conan #A5540029 6yr Male German Shep 88 Ibs.
Owner surrendered due to responsibility 5/26/26

Conan is a gentle, people-oriented dog who was easy to handle throughout his assessments. During his handling evaluation, he remained calm and relaxed, readily accepted petting, and even offered his paw when asked.
He enjoyed affection, leaning into his handler for head and ear scratches, and displayed no concerning behaviors during handling.

In playgroup, Conan entered the yard with a slightly nervous but tolerant demeanor. He preferred to explore the environment, stay close to handlers, and solicit affection rather than engage with the other dogs. At times, he appeared anxious and would whine or pace, but he remained manageable and responsive to handler guidance. He showed mild possessive behavior over handler attention on one occasion, which stopped immediately with correction.
Overall, Conan was social with people, tolerant of other dogs, and did not display a defined play style during his assessment. He would likely do well with calm canine companions and a home that can help build his confidence while providing plenty of affection and reassurance. Calm dog recommended

Coco #A5778328 is running out of time.💔 Last call- Euthanasia for space tomorrow 6/23 8am! Urgently adopter or foster and rescue needed. Downey ACC CA- Pls share & message me or email Isabeldesiree8@gmail.com if you can foster

Yesterday, his friend in the kennel next to him was euthanized ... and Coco is still sitting there, waiting, not understanding why it wasn’t him.
Coco is only 5 years old and truly such a handsome, soulful boy. Just look at his face... you can tell he wants connection so badly.
Right now, he’s scared and overwhelmed in the shelter environment. The noise, the confinement, the constant stress-it’s a lot for any dog to handle. Because of that, he’s been having a hard time showing his true personality.
But dogs like Coco don’t belong in kennels... they belong in homes where they can finally relax, feel safe, and just be dogs.
He urgently needs a rescue, foster, or adopter willing to give him that chance.
He doesn’t need perfection-he just needs someone to believe in him.
Please don’t let Coco become another dog who never makes it out.

Please dm me or email: Isabeldesiree8@gmail.com if you can foster or adopt Coco.

🚨💔 Final Hours for Max!💔🚨 Tomorrow morning (6/13) Max is scheduled to lose his life for space at Downey ACC in CA. He urgently needs a foster and pledges. Can you help. Pls comment below if you can pledge and if you can foster, please email: Isabeldesiree8@gmail.com

He didn’t choose this. His family did.
After years of believing he belonged, Max was owner surrendered and left behind for „personal reasons“. The people he trusted walked away… and he was left staring after them, trying to understand why they never came back.

🆘Now his final notice has expired (6/5)🆘

Max is a handsome, medium-energy pup who is looking for a patient and understanding home. When he first arrived, he was scared of his new surroundings and needed gentle encouragement to feel safe. With time and a calm environment, Max began to relax, showing soft eyes, a loose body, and even seeking out affection from people. He enjoys exploring at his own pace and can coexist with calm, respectful dogs in small groups. Max is still building his confidence, so he would thrive with adopters who can help him continue to blossom. With patience, love, and kindness, Max has the potential to become a loyal and loving companion. 💕🐶

Max #A5777873 2yr old Black Male German Shepherd 72 lbs.
Owner Surrendered 5/20/26 due to personal reasons
