🆘💔 MEET TAQUITO — A BIG, FLUFFY LOVEBUG WHO JUST WANTS SOMEONE TO LOVE! 💔🆘

At 4 years old and 94.4 lbs, Taquito is a big boy with an even bigger personality! Shelter staff have repeatedly described this Labrador Retriever Mix as friendly, affectionate, and full of sweet energy. He greets people with soft eyes, a happy open-mouth smile, and a tail that just keeps wagging. He enjoys human interaction and has allowed staff to leash and pet him without issues. 💙🐾

Taquito can get overexcited, especially when leaving his kennel, and may jump, bounce, zigzag, or pull on the leash. But he has also shown that he can walk more calmly, and on his most recent walk he moved forward without pulling. This enthusiastic boy needs a home where he can settle in, learn routines, and enjoy positive, patient guidance.

He is currently being treated for an upper respiratory infection and is heartworm high-positive, so he will need veterinary care and heartworm treatment. Despite these medical needs, Taquito deserves the chance to leave the shelter behind and experience the comfort and security of a loving home.

• 10/8: Taquito was jumping onto his kennel door. Once leashed, he walked forward without pulling. Staff offered treats, but he was not interested.
• 10/7: He greeted staff at his kennel door with a wiggly body, open-mouth smile, and fast-wagging tail. He occasionally stood against the door in excitement. He moved around while being leashed but allowed staff to leash him without issues. On the way to the runs, he pulled on the leash and walked in different directions, sometimes walking against the handler's legs. He was easy to leash again and more relaxed on the return walk, pulling only slightly.
• 10/6: Taquito greeted staff with an open-mouth smile, ears up, fast-wagging tail, wiggly body, and soft eyes. He was described as very friendly and welcoming. As staff entered his kennel, he became excited, jumping and bouncing around. He walked on a semi-loose leash but occasionally jumped on his handler.
• 10/5: He displayed lots of energy, a fast-wagging tail, and a tendency to stand against his kennel door. He was easy to leash but pulled forward during walks and moved in different directions.
• 10/4: Staff described Taquito as a “big ball of sweet energy!” He greeted them with a fast-wagging tail, circling, and softly whining for interaction. He allowed staff to leash and pet him before walking excitedly to and from the potty yard. Inside his kennel, he could be seen jumping against the door when someone was nearby.
• 10/3: Taquito was moved to a new kennel. During the move, he nearly pushed past staff to get out. He walked on a semi-tight leash, zigzagging and panting with a swaying tail.
• 10/2: Taquito displayed neutral body language and a low-wagging tail. He walked on a semi-tight leash.
• 10/1: Taquito greeted staff at the front of his kennel with a neutral body, soft panting, and wagging tail. He was leashed and walked out to the runs, pulling somewhat on the leash while maintaining a neutral body and soft facial expression.
• 9/30: Taquito entered BARC as a stray following a field intake.

🩺 MEDICAL NOTES

• 10/9: Taquito developed sneezing, huffing, and white nasal discharge. He was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI), moved to treatment, and prescribed doxycycline 400 mg once daily for 10 days.
• 9/30: Taquito weighed 94.4 lbs. His intake examination described him as an intact male. His heartworm test was high-positive, indicating an infection that will require veterinary follow-up and treatment. He received routine shelter vaccinations, deworming, and parasite prevention.

💖 TAQUITO DESERVES A HOME, NOT A DEADLINE.

This big, fluffy boy has repeatedly shown staff his friendly, people-oriented side. His wiggly body, soft eyes, happy smile, and constantly wagging tail paint the picture of a dog who loves attention and wants to connect with people. His enthusiasm can sometimes overwhelm him, particularly when coming out of his kennel, but he has also demonstrated that he can walk more calmly.

Taquito has medical needs: he is being treated for a respiratory infection and will need veterinary care for his heartworm infection. A rescue and foster who can help him through treatment and provide a stable environment could make all the difference.

8/14/26: Frasier was found as one of six loose dogs at Coolwood Head Start.

💖 Frasier is just an 11-week-old baby who has already had a difficult start to life. At only 11 pounds, he arrived at the shelter with an older fracture to his front right leg that has been healing crooked. Despite his injury, the shelter notes that he can be adopted as he is, with further veterinary care pursued later if needed. This little puppy deserves the chance to grow up in a safe, loving home instead of losing his life at the shelter.

8/14/26: Front right leg appeared to have an older injury/break. Frasier was limping.

8/15/26: Frasier's front right leg appears to have an older injury/fracture with a large, hard callus just above the carpus. He is limping. The fracture is healing but is crooked/deviated laterally. The shelter notes that his limp appears to be related more to the crooked healing than pain. He can be adopted in his current condition, with further veterinary care pursued later if desired.

Izzy has repeatedly shown shelter staff a calm, soft and affectionate side. She often greets handlers with a relaxed body, wiggly tail and soft eyes, is easy to leash, and frequently walks beautifully on a loose leash. Staff have described her as quiet and calm in her kennel, and she has kept her kennel clean overnight.

Izzy has sometimes become frightened and frozen or “pancaked,” needing reassurance or even to be carried to the run.

Away from that kennel stress, Izzy has repeatedly been relaxed, easy to handle and cooperative.

🙏 This sweet beautiful girl has been waiting since July 28, and the stress of shelter life is taking its toll. Please foster, adopt, rescue, share or pledge for Izzy and help get her safe.

📝 Shelter Notes:

8/17/26: Izzy began lunging and forward barking at dogs as they passed by her kennel.

8/16/26: Izzy stood at the front of her kennel with a relaxed body and softly wagging tail. She was leashed easily and walked out readily. She walked well on a loose leash in the run, but became vocal when other dogs passed her kennel after returning, so her kennel was covered.

8/14/26: Izzy stood near her kennel door and exited easily once leashed. She walked on a loose leash, looked outside, and was placed in a run.

8/13/26: Izzy was lying calmly in her kennel and walked loosely on leash once outside. She repeatedly stopped and wanted to pancake, but continued walking with encouragement and returned to her kennel on her bed.

8/12/26: Izzy waited calmly at the front of her kennel with a wiggly tail and soft eyes. She was easy to leash and walked on a loose leash to the runs with an open-mouth smile. She returned without issue.

8/11/26: Izzy was quiet in her kennel and walked on a loose leash to the row, but became tense and froze once outside. Staff had to carry her into a run. She remained mostly stationary while outside but walked back inside without issue.

8/4/26: Izzy greeted staff loosely at her kennel door with a soft open mouth and high wagging tail. She was easy to leash, walked loosely outside and back, and remained very relaxed and quiet in her kennel.

💖 Izzy is a sweet girl who has shown a relaxed, affectionate side with her handlers. She is often easy to leash, walks nicely on a loose leash, and greets people with soft eyes and a wagging tail. At times she becomes overwhelmed outside and has recently shown reactivity toward dogs passing her kennel, but the stressful shelter environment can be incredibly difficult. She needs a patient, understanding home where she can decompress, feel secure, and show who she is away from the constant stimulation of the shelter.

- Spayed.

- Recently treated with doxycycline for coughing and nasal discharge/upper respiratory infection.

Summary:

Izzy is heartworm positive. On 8/8, she developed hacking and nasal discharge and was diagnosed with suspected CIRD/URI. She was moved to treatment and started on Doxycycline 250 mg once daily for 10 days.

Izzy was spayed on 8/5 and was noted to be in heat at the time of surgery. She has received her core vaccines, rabies vaccine, deworming and Advantage Multi.

Meet GUS—35 pounds of forever puppy! GUS may be 2 years old and fully grown, but nobody told him he's supposed to act like an adult. 😂 He's a happy, playful boy with puppy energy in a perfectly medium-sized 35-pound package.

Even better? GUS loves other dogs! 🐶💕 His kennel buddy left with a local foster, which is wonderful for his friend—but now GUS is all alone with nobody to play with.

⚠️ MEDICAL: Nugget has an injury to the paw pad of his right hind limb, which was sloughing off. Shelter staff treated the paw with chlorhexidine, removed excess skin, applied mupirocin, and bandaged it. His bandage will need to be changed every couple of days, with multiple bandage changes expected until the paw is completely healed.

🆘 Sweet DALLY has been waiting since 7/17 for someone to choose her. 💔 At just 2 years old, her nights shouldn’t be spent sleeping on a concrete shelter floor surrounded by the constant noise and stress of hundreds of dogs.

📝 Shelter Notes:

7/31/26: Showed her belly, wagged her tail, and happily zoomed around the runs after being carried outside.

8/2/26: Initially scurried out of her kennel with an extremely low body posture and crawled to the runs. With baby talk she continued walking and returned the same way. Staff described her as very sweet but timid.

8/3/26: Very timid and submissive after being moved for adoption. She crawled to handlers, froze frequently, rolled onto her side or back, licked her lips, and responded positively to treats and gentle encouragement.

8/4/26: Approached with worried eyes and a lowered head. She froze, crawled, scurried between staff's legs, and pancaked repeatedly from fear. Despite this, she responded to treats, baby talk, and gentle petting, eventually relaxing enough to walk on her own. She sought comfort by leaning against people and hugging their legs.

8/5/26: Friendly and wiggly with a wagging tail and soft face. She army crawled in zigzags during her walk and later pulled apart the sheet covering her kennel.

8/6/26: Pippa greeted staff with a wiggly body, wagging tail, and soft open mouth. Although she frequently pancaked and army crawled while walking, she continued trying her best and eventually pulled forward on leash. She became distressed when separated from another dog, vocalizing nonstop from the other side of the wall.

💖 Pippa is a gentle, affectionate puppy whose fear is completely overshadowing her true personality. Beneath her timid exterior is a sweet girl who melts for baby talk, treats, gentle pets, and human kindness. She seeks comfort by leaning into people, wagging her tail, and even giving happy zoomies once she feels safe. At only 11 months old, Pippa deserves the chance to build confidence in a loving home instead of losing her life because she's scared.

That’s how long Lobo had his family.
And then, after an entire lifetime with the people he knew and loved, they surrendered him to a high k*ll shelter.

Now Lobo #A5789645 is 14 years old, sad, alone, and visibly heartbroken. He is struggling in the shelter environment, and watching a senior dog like him deteriorate in this way is devastating.

He spends his last days on a concrete kennel floor, lying in his own urine and feces.

A 14-year-old senior German Shepherd.

He should be sleeping on a soft bed. He should be surrounded by love. He should be spending his final years feeling safe and cherished.

Instead, he lost his family and found himself in a shelter.

We don’t know how much time Lobo has left. But we do know that he deserves for whatever time he has remaining to be filled with dignity, comfort, and love.
