‼️🙏7/19 Puppy PEPPER could possibly lose her[life in the morning for being in the overcrowded shelter over 100 days, and now 6 months old.

We really don’t her sweet life cut short. She was only a little over 2 months old when she arrived. For 3 1/2 months all she has known is life in a horribly loud shelter sleeping each night on the floor with other puppies joining her in a kennel built for one.

PEPPER is only 6 months old and has been at the shelter since April 9. Instead of growing up in a loving home, she’s spending her puppyhood behind kennel doors. 💔

Her sister was adopted on May 29, leaving Pepper behind, wondering why no one has come for her. 😭

Pepper was spayed and had an adopter waiting for her, but because she was in Wing 2, closed due to a parvo outbreak, the adopter couldn’t pick her up. Sadly, after the wing reopened, the adopter never came.

🚨 Pepper can be euthanized any Monday, Wednesday, or Friday morning with NO WARNING. Puppies deserve to be safe, loved, and playing with a family—not growing up scared in a shelter kennel.

E-collar provided. It is important to check that the fit around the neck of the e-collar daily to ensure it is not cause discomfort for your pet. You should remove the e-collar after 7 to 10 days, or as instructed by your veterinarian.

Owner Notes

7/10: Oreo was surrendered after his owner reported concerns about food-related resource guarding in the home. According to the owner, Oreo growled, barked, lunged, and attempted to rush toward the owner's daughter while she was putting down his food, and he also displayed similar behavior around the family's other dogs when food was present. No bites or injuries occurred, but the owner was concerned someone could be hurt and was unable to safely manage the behavior in a free-feeding household.

Julian is looking for a patient adopter who can help him settle in at his own pace. The shelter has been a scary place for him, and he has been observed feeling overwhelmed in his kennel while preferring the comfort of his bed. With time, patience, and gentle encouragement, Julian may begin to build confidence as he adjusts to a new environment. He is waiting for someone willing to give him the chance to decompress and show his personality in a quieter setting.

Due to capacity at the shelter, this pet is currently at risk for euthanasia. We are urgently seeking placement through adoption, foster, or approved rescue.

SIGNALMENT: Adult, unaltered male, black, pit bull type dog

MC: None identified with universal certified microchip scanner

FOOD: NONE PRESENT

WATER: PRESENT/CLEAN

HOUSING: PRESENT

BEDDING: WOOD/DIRT

COLLAR (type/fitting): Tight fitting thick nylon collar with heavy chain

DEMEANOR: Nervous

PAIN SCORE: None noted

EYES: Eyes are clear, no evidence of redness, discharge, or other abnormalities OU.

EARS: Ears have a small amount of moist, brown, ceruminous debris, no evidence of redness, odor, or other abnormalities with visible AU.

NOSE: No nasal discharge or other abnormalities.

ORAL: Did not examine oral cavity.

LYM: Peripheral lymph nodes are normal in size without evidence of firmness or pain.

INTEG: Fur is soft and full, skin is clean without evidence of scales, flakes, crusts, or masses other than 2 x 2 cm right lateral dorsal neck alopecia and elbow calluses. Fleas noted, no other ectoparasites observed. A previous ventral midline incision or tattoo is not evident. Nails are appropriate in length.

H/L: Normal sinus rhythm, no murmurs auscultated, pulses strong and synchronous; no evidence of increased respiratory rate or effort, bronchovesicular sounds are normal.

ABD: Abdomen is soft, non-painful, not distended with no palpable organomegaly, masses or other abnormalities.

UG: Fecal consistency is formed and brown without evidence of blood or melena. Testes present, smooth and symmetrical.

MS: BCS 4/9, Ambulatory x 4, no evidence of lameness or joint pain/swelling.

NEURO: Normal mentation and gait, CN’s normal; full neurological exam not performed.
CBC: HCT 39.8 %, HGB 14.2 g/dL, WBC 22.9 K/uL, Neut 15.824 K/u, Mono 1.672 K/uL, Eos 2.244 K/uL

CHEM/LYTES: Creatinine 0.4 mg/dL, Phosph 7.6 mg/dL, Total Protein 8.5 g/dL, Globulin 5.7 g/d, Albumin:Globulin Ratio 0.5

HEARTWORM TEST: UNABLE TO BE PERFORMED

FECAL: Hookworm ova present, Hookworm antigen Positive

MOLECULAR DIAGNOSTICS: Mycoplasma haemocanis POSITIVE

TREATMENT: DA2PP, Bordetella, Rabies, Imoxi, Pyrantel

Shelter Observation

06/08/26: scared, starts to growl when I got near, alert, whale eyes tail tucked hides in the corner of the kennel

07/04/26: initially reactive barking in kennel, retreated to bed when door was opened. Cowered close to bed. Able to place slip leash but would not walk on leash. Stayed trembling on bed. Would not take treats.
