🩷 This adorable little girl has a happy spirit and a face that’s impossible not to love. At just 31.5 pounds, she’s the perfect compact size with so much life and love still to give.

When she arrived at the shelter, staff described her as very friendly. She happily allowed herself to be leashed and handled, taking everything in stride.

The heartbreaking reality is that 𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐄 is now urgent due to her length of stay. She can be euthanized as early as tomorrow morning if she doesn’t have a foster, adopter, or rescue plan. 💔

She doesn’t know she’s out of time.
She just knows she’s still waiting.

Say hello to handsome Fizz. He 1.7 years old and weighs 59 lbs. Fizz is high an energy boy and would love to be with an active family. He is anxious at the shelter and needs someone with kindness and patience to show him the way. Fizz should be able to share his home with canine siblings if slowly and appropriately introduced. Fizz can be adopted directly from the shelter, or he can be rescued if someone offers to foster him.

Sanchez was given a few minutes & he didn’t “perform” the way a “good dog” was expected to.
He didn’t do well with other dogs.
That one moment became a label.

🚨Now, instead of getting the chance to find the right home, he’s scheduled to be euthanized tomorrow morning.🚨

The behaviors described reflect the dog’s responses in a stressful shelter environment. A dog’s behavior in a high euthanasia shelter may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement &unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out—or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog’s behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization &life experiences.

Sanchez was wearing a muzzle when the handler began the assessment. He approached the handler with a neutral body &allowed the handler to
pet his head, neck &back. When the handler tried to pet him anywhere else, his body tensed &he became extremely antsy. He laid down, rolled over, jumped up & tried to run away. He was difficult to restrain, but the handler was able to calm him down &continue petting his back. A dog happened to walk close to the catch pen at that point &Sanchez lunged across the handler while attempting to bite the other dog. He was still wearing the muzzle at this point.
After that the handler was able to remove the muzzle &return Sanchez to his kennel with no issues.

He was unable to coexist with the other dogsin the yard &has a medium energy level.

Sanchez just needs one person willing to love him for who he is &another chance.

He is being kept out of public view, so many of the people who could save him may never even know he exists.

Some dogs aren’t meant to live with other dogs.
That doesn’t make them unworthy.
And it certainly shouldn’t make tomorrow their last day.

6/13/2026: Finder reported a small brown female dog abandoned in an apartment complex. The finder stated she had been acting aggressively toward children and had secured her until pickup.

📝 Shelter Notes:

6/19/2026: Calm in kennel with a soft wagging tail. Relaxed, slept, and played with plush toys.

6/22/2026: Friendly and social. Wiggly body, soft eyes, wagging tail. Easy to leash and walked well. Enjoyed treats and attention.

6/24/2026: Wiggly body and wagging tail in kennel. Easy to leash and walked calmly on a loose leash to the runs. Became vocal when returned to the kennel.

6/27/2026: Initially approached the front of the kennel with a wiggly body, but when staff attempted to leash her she retreated, barked, lunged, growled, and showed her teeth. Displayed conflicted behavior, alternating between loose body language and defensive reactions. Placed on adoption evaluation.

6/27/2026: With an outreach staff member present, Tilly stood tense at the kennel door with lip lifting, barking, growling, snarling, and lunging when approached. She briefly stopped when treats were offered but quickly resumed defensive behavior.

🚑 Medical Notes:

6/13/2026: Intake exam normal. Weighed 29.8 lbs. Received Rabies, DA2PP-V, and Bordetella vaccines, dewormer, Pyrantel, flea prevention, and tested Heartworm Negative.

6/27/2026: Normal exam. Booster vaccine could not be administered due to behavior.

6/28/2026: Normal exam. Received DA2PP-V booster, dewormer, and Pyrantel.

Conan is a gentle, people-oriented dog who was easy to handle throughout his assessments. During his handling evaluation, he remained calm and relaxed, readily accepted petting, and even offered his paw when asked.
He enjoyed affection, leaning into his handler for head and ear scratches, and displayed no concerning behaviors during handling.

In playgroup, Conan entered the yard with a slightly nervous but tolerant demeanor. He preferred to explore the environment, stay close to handlers, and solicit affection rather than engage with the other dogs. At times, he appeared anxious and would whine or pace, but he remained manageable and responsive to handler guidance. He showed mild possessive behavior over handler attention on one occasion, which stopped immediately with correction.
Overall, Conan was social with people, tolerant of other dogs, and did not display a defined play style during his assessment. He would likely do well with calm canine companions and a home that can help build his confidence while providing plenty of affection and reassurance. Calm dog recommended

📝 Shelter Notes:

6/18: Buffy greeted staff with a wagging tail and calm demeanor. She walked loosely to and from the potty yard and spent quiet time relaxing on her cot.

6/22: Buffy was easily leashed and walked calmly with a relaxed body. She leaned in for pets, wagged her tail, and enjoyed receiving chin scratches. Staff described her as very sweet and quiet throughout the day.

6/24: Buffy spent much of the day resting due to her upper respiratory infection but still walked outside on a loose leash with a wagging tail and soft facial expression.

6/25: Buffy greeted staff at the kennel door with a wagging tail and calm demeanor. She walked loosely to and from the potty yards and was seen relaxing quietly on her cot.

6/26: Buffy was found lying down as staff approached. She was slow to get up due to illness but happily followed staff outside once leashed. She walked on a loose leash with a low tail and soft face.

• Currently being treated for an upper respiratory infection (CIRD) with doxycycline

• Completed 10 days of treatment but continues to have green nasal discharge, requiring an additional 5 days of antibiotics

• History of hair thinning, flea dermatitis, and healing wounds, which have been treated

• Currently weighs 40 pounds

Bobby is a sweet young puppy who was unfortunately returned to the shelter after testing positive for Parvovirus, a contagious and serious illness. While he is currently on fluids, he requires more intensive medical care and a strict isolation environment that goes beyond what the shelter's resources can provide. We are looking for a dedicated home capable of managing his intensive treatment needs to give him the best opportunity for a full recovery. Because Parvovirus is highly contagious, he will need to be kept separate from other unvaccinated dogs during his care.

Meet Lobo, a sweet senior dog who needs help now.

Lobo is currently in very poor condition. On examination, he was found to be extremely weak and lethargic. He is walking with an ataxic (unsteady) gait in his hind end and has significant muscle atrophy in both rear legs and hip area. He is also showing proprioceptive deficits in both rear legs, meaning he is having difficulty knowing where his feet are positioned.

Medical findings include degenerative disc disease, canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD), and bilateral lenticular sclerosis. Neoplasia (cancer) cannot be ruled out at this time and remains a concern pending further diagnostics.

Today, Lobo has declined even further. He is not eating, is lying on his side in his kennel, and does not want to get up. He appears exhausted, uncomfortable, and in need of immediate support and medical attention.

6/24: Patient was observed today alert and responsive during kennel side examination.

There was evidence of coughing/sneezing and slightly Mucoid purulent nasal discharge in left/right/both nares. We have started our standard protocol for CIRDC (Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex) with Doxycycline. This antibiotic therapy is intended to help prevent secondary infections and support the pet’s health while the pet naturally resolves CIRD, with a normal treatment length of 5-7 days. Medical will continue to monitor the patient to ensure symptoms are resolving, if not there could be a change in antibiotics prescribed by the veterinarian.

Rx: Doxycycline 100mg (10mg/kg) once daily for 10 days

Very weak and lethargic on exam. Walks with ataxic gait in hindquarters. Muscle atrophy noted in both rear legs and hip area. Proprioception deficits noted in both rear legs. Bilateral lenticular sclerosis. Also not eating today and just laying on his side in kennel and not wanting to get up. Heart and lungs normal.

DX: Chemistry Profile/CBC=Elevated T. Protein and Globulin on chemistries. Unable to obtain a good CBC reading. CBC indicating hemoconcentration 68.2%; elevated wbc 20.6; neutrophilia 18.49 and low platelets 85 (no clotting noted).

DX: Xray (RL & VD View Lumbar spine and pelvis)=Spondylosis noted at L2-L3 and Sacrum. Also noted localized area of pulmonary infiltrates in the caudal right lung lobe (neoplasia vs infection).

A: Degenerative disc disease; CIRD; rule out neoplasia

P: TX: Fluids LRS 1000mls SQ

TX: Carprofen (50mg/ml) 2.4cc SQ

TX: Enrofloxacin (100mg/ml) 2.8cc SQ

TX: Clindamycin (150mg/ml) 2cc SQ

Needs to go to rescue today for further workup and treatment. Not eating and not wanting to get up and move around. Condition deteriorating here in shelter.
