Mosquitoes around our clubhouse

This probably sounds weird, but I’m noticing that a ton of mosquitoes love to roam around our clubhouse - it almost seems to draw them in, no matter whether we’re in an area with a bunch of water nearby.

I’m even wondering if there’s some eggs hiding in there somewhere, if there’s some moisture on the bottom, etc

Has anyone else dealt with this? Maybe just need to put one of those bait balls in the bottom?

Sometimes, two beers gets me through it

EDIT: thanks, all, for so many thoughtful comments. The spectrum is pretty wide - and understandably so, everyone's experience is different - but I can tell that a lot of you are sharing from the heart, and with compassion. I appreciate you, and I'm reflecting on each one of your perspectives.

I don’t consider myself an alcoholic, but in recent months, especially with the arrival of our second kid, I’m finding that the simplest way I can manage the chaos is just getting a little bit of a buzz after work.

I think I’ve been able to manage my consumption. It hasn’t affected my work or presence for my family, but all I can think about is how my dad operated as a functional alcoholic for about 25 years.

I have a great life. My job is something others envy. My kids are great. I have a long-standing relationship with a fantastic therapist and am on a light dose of Zoloft. My wife is supportive. And I’m in my mid-forties and can still bang out a 3-hour marathon. But the pull to drink still sits there despite having so many outlets to manage my stress.

I’m not quite sure whether I should feel bad about this, if it’s something I should confront, etc but I feel like this is a safe space to share it.

P4 as a kid hauler?

We’ve already got a forester that serves as our family hauler. Looking at a p4 to serve as our smaller, more efficient car, but will likely need to throw a kid or two in the back from time to time.

Anyone doing this? I’m curious about things like car seat anchors, the interior’s resistance to getting destroyed, etc.

US/New England Polestar experience?

We’re considering a Polestar 4 which we’d buy in a mid-Atlantic center then drive up to our new home in western Massachusetts.

The horror stories I’ve read in this sub about the Boston and new Canaan centers are nearly enough to turn me away from doing this. We’re looking at other EVs from Toyota and Subaru, and obviously the driving experience of a P4 is so much more compelling. We’d hate to pass on it because of shoddy service.

Other owners in the area: how has your experience been?

So how does this one do in the snow?

Looking at a P4 after test driving today, but comparing it to the EX90 and Subaru Solterra in comparison. Ground clearance appears to be lower on the P4 but that doesn't always translate to better snow performance.

Anyone in colder climes able to speak with experience to how it does in the snow?

Check me on this lease deal

UPDATE: they just offered to drop the monthly to….$560.

AWD limited, have been trying to get a sense of the money factor on this and the sales guy is sending this info.

Lowest we’ve gotten is $5k down +4k lease cash, $579 per month which implies a MF of 3.5% APR equivalent by my calculations.

When I asked to try and get closer to the current financing deal offer (0% APR) I was told no. I feel like I’m asking for info but not receiving it (I was provided the subvention number)…

Haven’t done a lease in ages so wondering what I’m missing…this is a dealer in the DMV area FYI

Why are lease rates b/t a Solterra and bZ so different?

Maybe I'm not inputting things right, but I'm doing as close to an apples-to-apples comparison across the bZ and Solterra.

Solterra leases are far better. Essentially $300/month cheaper by all standards. What gives?

Wait for 2027 or get a used Mach-e?

We were supposed to test drive an uncharted on Saturday, but it literally got sold an hour beforehand. There’s virtually nothing else in inventory anywhere nearby.

I have it down to this or a mach-e, and there are tons of the latter on the market right now. Best guess is that I’d get a 2027 in November or December based on order predictions.

For folks who have tested out both, what are your takes? We live in semi-rural Massachusetts with mostly paved roads but some gravel. Going in without having test drove an uncharted gives me a bit of pause, but wanted to get a lens on this.

Thanks!

I would buy a rivian just to avoid dealer hell

We’re shopping around as we await our opportunity to order an R2 - it’s the first time buying a new car for us, ever.

And OH MY GOD I didn’t realize how annoying a car dealership can be. The level of nonstop shilling simply for inquiring about a car via text and phone call is absurd.

There is no reason why other dealerships can’t learn from what Rivian does so well: they actually seem to want to take time for you to learn about the car, and take as much time as you need to do so.

At this point, the price premium for a Rivian is worth it just to save me from the eternal purgatory of getting communication from other brands’ dealerships. Please, order email, come quickly!

Medical supplies donations?

We have a bunch of packaged and unused needles and alcohol prep pads - we don’t want to throw them away but want sure if there are any medical equipment donation locations in the area?

Related, if anyone is exploring IVF and needs equipment, we have some needles and prep pads for you. :)
