Lindsey Stirling – Hortus Regis Alti: ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE
youtu.beSome Advice Needed
So its going to be a long post to give everyone a heads up. My parents and I live in California if that helps.
So basically my dad went to urgent care in March for back pain, we were told it was a fracture vertebra and to go to the specialist they recommended. We went there and then over time more vertebra got fractured and this specialist basically did nothing so we went to an ER and they basically said we can't help you, you have to go to a specialist.
So later on his kidney doctor called us (my dad is on dialysis) and said go to another ER and he will get my dad admitted, anyway he got admitted and he got bone cement put into his back on the 2 or 3 fractured vertebra so his pain is now gone. The hospital basically did almost no physical therapy on his legs and decided to send him to a rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility and the palliative care doctor told us it could take weeks or months possibly for my dad to walk.
So now he is at the rehabilitation place for almost a month and has made very small progress (still progress especially when compared to him basically unable to move or bend his legs at all) but now the case worker at the rehabilitation facility all of a sudden is telling us his Aetna Advantage Signature Medicare Plan PPO might not keep paying for him to stay and he would be sent home, we asked who would care for him etc since my mom and I work 5 days a week and there is no other family and the case worker was like just get a caregiver but it would be out of pocket (the cheapest one she told us charges $25 an hour for 12 hours, and the price increases if its less hours and the newest review was interesting) the case worker said they can arrange the physical therapy at our apartment and have a nurse come by to check on him. An old friend said that his insurance might actually cover caregivers, but I should call his insurance directly to be sure. My family can't afford a caregiver, and what money we have would have to go to the non emergency medical transport for his dialysis. And we live in affordable housing so we have to keep our income at a certain level, we did apply to Medi-Cal as well, still waiting on their decision but the case worker said they highly doubt my dad will get it because of his social security income and the fact my mom is working as well. Honestly, my mom and I are in disbelief that an insurance company would stop paying for his treatment when he isn't even halfway recovered or able to be alone.
Would having my dad switch to regular Medicare actually help him, especially with the news that big changes are coming to Medicare.
Also the case worker said we can appeal the insurance decision if they do decide to stop paying but its going to be 50-50 chance and it will be reviewed by a Medicare doctor, what would we need to do to appeal if we go that route?
Honestly, my mom and I are very scared for my dad and ourselves. Please pray for his insurance to keep paying for him to stay if you can spare some prayers.
No official decision yet from Aetna, the case worker on Friday told us the decision will come on Monday and she was surprised that they had let me dad stay as long as he has right now which is about 3 weeks. We will get 2 days' notice before he is officially discharged. I asked while the appeal is going on can he stay here and the case worker said the appeal will only take one or two days, it's a very quick decision.
I feel like a failure right now because of all this and how everything costs money, which we have little of.

Book Off Costa Mesa
So a family member went to Book Off Costa with 6+ bags of books to sell, they have been to this location before a long time ago so they are aware that this location is picky with what books they buyback but it was never a big issue. So today they went and they were told the store wouldn't buy any books because of bugs as the excuse, the family member was shocked and looked into the bags but didn't see any of these bugs, the staff had also made them remove the books from the bags into their own bins so they literally had no idea where these bugs were. Then it turns out they used the same excuse to another customer who had also brought in lots of books etc to sell. So, just a PSA not to bring anything to this location to sell, they seem to make up excuses not to buy anything. And this was after making them wait an hour+ for the store to get to the stuff and look through. The store was mostly full of Anime figures and Funko Pops now instead of books/games/music/movies. The family member was of course a bit upset because the books are basically brand new only read once and they had wanted to get some money back for them and they are always very careful about storing them etc so the excuse of bugs really rubbed them the wrong way as you can imagine.
