I wanted to learn the reasoning behind the starter selections for Pokemon Legends Z-A. And the potential backstory is interesting.
Here's how they potentially connect with real-world France:
Tepig: A nod to French truffle pigs. France is world-famous for its culinary history, and they historically used trained domestic pigs to hunt down rare luxury truffles in the countryside.
Totodile: Inspired by a famous Parisian urban legend. In 1984, an actual Nile crocodile was discovered living in the sewers of Paris right under the Pont Neuf!
Chikorita: Meganium represents the Fleur-de-lis (the lily symbol of French royalty). Plus, France pioneered the modern aromatherapy industry, which perfectly fits Chikorita’s plant-healing lore.
