Refreezing after processing?

What’s the verdict on refreezing after processing? Sometimes I want to process at a very unsociable time due to work shifts. If you refreeze after processing can you then enjoy straight from the freezer (after suitable thawing time) or would it stay like a block of ice for hours?

What is the secret to disgustingly thick overnight oats?

Is it simply a case of using less liquid? I want it so thick that it sticks to my ribs 😂

What are the absolute best, crunchiest, crispest apples?

I absolutely love a cold, super crisp/crunchy apple - absolutely nothing worse than a slightly soft/mushy apple.

Braeburns are pretty consistent in that regard, but looking for recommendations for alternative varieties! Have tried Cosmic Crisp from Asda and a couple of other varieties but yet to find something stellar.

Go!

Is this Anchor Blue?

Bought an unboxed Anchor Blue ocean band on eBay and it looks a lot more navy to my eyes in person than the steely/grey blue that it looks in the official product pictures.

I don’t dislike it, but I want to make sure it’s what was advertised as I can’t get to an Apple Store to compare! Thank you.

Pictured here alongside my blue alpine loop and blue/bright blue trail loop for easy comparison!

40 year old guy, am I gonna get laughed at?

Turned 40 last month. I absolutely love Gracie’s music, and her infectious enthusiasm on stage for her craft. I just bought tickets for me and my wife for next April; am I going to get laughed at for being there?

Heard the risk is mocking but I’m gonna take it.

EDIT: Overwhelmed by all your responses and kindness and it’s great to see so many folks as old as me, or older, enjoying her music too. As has been said, music is absolutely for everyone and I love your kindness! Glad to be here and look forward to being amongst you at her shows as hopefully this won’t be our only one ever! 😁

Low calorie riff on an espresso martini?

Brewed a big load of decaf and looking for inspiration for espresso flavoured drinks to make for my wife, who loves espresso martinis! The lower calorie the better! :)

Absolutely doesn’t have to be ‘martini-esque’ - just enjoyable coffee based AF drinks! Thank you! ☺️

Thank you!

Mac mini does not show up in 'Control Nearby Devices' on iPhone?

I want to use my iPhone to control the music currently playing on my Mac mini but when I go to Settings>Accessibility>Control Nearby Devices, it scans for nearby devices but never finds any.

Both are on the same network and I can airdrop etc between the two.

I know I can play the music from the phone and 'send' it to the Mac but I'm looking to specifically control the music on the Mac but use the phone to control it when required.

Thanks

What is your favourite book that you’ve never seen anyone else recommend?

Mine is ‘Bush Falls’ by Jonathan Tropper.

I found out in the aftermath of my brother’s suicide that this was his favourite book of all time. I read it and it sent me through every emotion possible.

I’ve never seen anyone else mention it.

If you could recommend ONE book to people that you’ve never knowingly seen someone discuss, what would it be?

Longer drink that riffs on a Negroni?

I picked up some Monin bitter syrup in a sale and I'm looking to use it to riff on a Negroni but ideally make it into a bit of a longer drink, perhaps 200-250mls rather than the c. 100mls of a classic Negroni.

Any thoughts on what to mix this with? It doesn't need to exactly mimic a Negroni in composition but it's the kinda vibe I'm going for! I was wondering about simply mixing with some tonic water but I wonder if that might push the bitterness a little too far.

But open to all ideas! Every AF gin I've ever had just tastes pretty much like water so unless it's come on a long way in the last couple of years and there are some good ones out there I'd probably not bother with buying another AF gin (but happy to be corrected!)

I do have some juniper bitters as well as various AF aperitivo type drinks (Lyre's Orange, Smiling Wolf, Pathfinder to name a couple off the top of my head)

Thanks!

Does colour run from the bands when you wash them?

Hey folks. I have several different types of bands (Apple ones) - alpine loops, braided solo loops, trail loops…I want to put them all through the laundry to clean them up a little.

Are they all ok in together or is any colour likely to come out of any of the different types of bands?

Sorry I’m useless when it comes to laundry so just want to check before I do anything silly 😂

Can you recommend a nice bar for a drink around Wapping Wharf?

Eating near here tomorrow but want to take my wife for a nice spritz or a glass of wine or two first. But haven’t been out drinking in town for years! Any recommendations?

How to best deal with frozen foods for 24 hours without a freezer?

Fairly self explanatory! Will have 24 hours between removal of old freezer and ability to fill the new one. Attempts to ‘wind down’ the full freezer beforehand were not successful 😂

Into insulated type packaging and put in a fridge the best bet?

Black Tea Recipes

I see a lot of people using black tea in their mocktails. I’ve never tried this before and I’ve just brewed a big batch so ready to do some experimenting over the weekend!

Hit me up with some of your favourite uses and recipes using it! I have various different NA spirits, fruit flavoured mixers, sodas, tonics, cordials, some bitters etc. on hand so anything goes! :-)

Notes not syncing correctly all of a sudden

I have a couple of particular note that all of a sudden won't sync properly between my devices. I largely edit it on my iPhone but occasionally on the Mac.

When I load Notes on the Mac, it correctly shows the time it was last edited on the iPhone, but the note reads differently on the two devices (correct on the iPhone as that's where I last edited it, but 'wrong' on the Mac).

This is only happening all of a sudden, up til now, within a couple of seconds of opening Notes on the Mac it 'refreshed' with the updated content.

It only certain Notes and not others which is really weird as nothing has changed.

Thanks for any help.

Is anyone going to a UK show who would be able to do me a big favour?

Hey gang! Like an idiot I forgot to buy the baseball cap that I wanted after the show last night. If anyone is going to a UK date and would be prepared to grab me one and post it, I’d be indebted! I’ll obviously pay the postage costs and happily make a donation to a charity of your choice for your time and effort! I’ve checked the web store but it’s not available online.

If anyone is willing to help out that’d be awesome and I promise to pay it forwards! Thanks in advance!

Has anyone read these two books? Which would you recommend?

My wife and I have just pulled the trigger on replacing a Nespresso machine with a Sage Barista Express Impress, and I want to learn about making better coffee at home.

I like enjoying physical media (ironically, leisurely over....well, coffee!) so I'm looking to get a physical book to enjoy the learning process with.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these two books? Both are well rated and I don't think I would go far wrong with either but curious to hear your thoughts!

Thanks!

Book 1 - How to Make the Best Coffee at Home by James Hoffmann

Book 2 - The Home Barista: From Bean to Blend by Tom Saxon

Just curious as to what - if anything - you guys add to sanbitter to increase the volume when riffing on a negroni?
