I love strong/bold scents/flavours/fragrances....I love the smell of some shower gels/body washes but within about 30 mins of use, you can't smell anything anyway, so it seems a bit redundant buying anything particularly nice/expensive.
Is there a world out there that I'm missing? I want to smell like I've almost drowned in the stuff hours later so hit me up with your best suggestions.
Caveat: it does actually have to smell somewhat nice. So Brut is out and so is Ralgex :D
Hi everyone!
I’ve always deeply loved the craft of good lyrics, and I enjoy listening deeply to music and musing on the lyrics and the story behind the lines.
I’m looking to start writing lyrics not with any performative goals or even necessarily putting to music, but as a form of therapy somewhat akin to journaling, but more expressing some feelings through lyrics rather than just writing down my feelings, if that makes any sense?
I’d love to hear any advice you might have about how to get started and useful resources etc?
Sorry for the kinda incoherent stream of consciousness but hopefully people can understand what angle I’m coming at this from!
Thanks!
Sorry if this is a silly question but I have a library of concert videos where sometimes I just want to listen to the music without watching the show. Is there a way (even not using plex if necessary) that I can play audio only? Or even an easy way to convert those video files into a music file so I could put them in my Apple Music library? Sorry for the dumb question!
Surprised my wife with tickets to ‘Fell Out Boy & The Black Charade’ - a joint show between a FOB and MCR tribute act. We love both bands (FOB much more though) so I thought it would be a good laugh on a Friday night!
They only had a 65 minute set each so I thought there would be zero deviation from the ‘standard’ hits, but we were treated to Headfirst Slide, Take Over, Sixteen Candles and Young Volcanoes, Sophomore Slump…none of which I was expecting! Opened with The Phoenix and closed with Sugar. Also got Immortals, Centuries, Uma,
They were WAY better than I expected….the less I say about the Black Charade the better (we left after three songs and that was being very generous) 😁
I love whisky and I try and get a bottle made in the country I visit everywhere I go as a souvenir. Does Portugal produce any whiskies? And if so, can someone recommend a place in Lisbon to purchase? Thank you!
Hey Guys & Girls
Recently turned 40, male, have been very fit and active for a number of years - do around 20,000 steps a day (mix of running and walking) and lift 4-5x per week.
No matter how much stronger I get in the gym, or however cardio fit I am, I've suffered my whole life with tenderness in the soft area beneath my kneecaps.
In a more general sense, I have noticed that in the last 2-3 years I don't recover anywhere near as well as I did say 5-10 years ago, in terms of general aches & pains despite being stronger/fitter/healthier than ever. Catches up to us all I suppose!
I was wondering if anyone had any success with supplements aimed specifically at joint/tendon/ligaments etc. ?
There is a lot of joint issues in my family history, lots of arthritis etc (I have it myself in my hands) so I suspect that there's a large genetic component, but keen to hear peoples thoughts.
My diet is absolutely on point, covers all nutritional bases, and things like sleep hygiene etc. are all as good as they can possibly be.
In terms of my daily supplementation as it stands, I take creatine, omega 3s, vitamin D and magnesium, nothing crazy. I did try adding glucosamine for the last few weeks but can't say that I've noticed any difference on that front.
Be keen to hear your thoughts! Thanks!
40 year old guy, hope I'm welcome here.
I have this horrible stress induced habit of pulling hairs from a certain area of my chin and I’ve been pointed towards this sub! I've been doing it for years and got out of the habit, but recent stress has caused me to start doing it again.
Obviously the solution is STOP DOING IT but what can I use to try and clear up the redness, pustules, broken skin etc that comes from it in the short term?
It's a viscious cycle, when the area is clear and I haven't been doing it for a long time, I leave it alone, but once I start picking and the area of my face feels different, and is sore, I double down and keep doing it and making it worse :(

I'm wanting to start incorporating kefir into my diet and was wondering how it might work in a Creami in place of milk.
I normally use around 250ml semi skimmed (2% fat) milk with 100ml of almond milk - plus 20g whey protein - in my 'standard' recipe, and was thinking about replacing like for like with the 2% fat milk and use kefir in it's place. It's a little thicker than regular milk so I may even omit the protein powder as I get plenty of protein elsewhere in my diet anyway.
Any experiences or thoughts on how this would turn out?
My wife loves figs so I want to make her a treat using them as a surprise. Would they work better as a sorbet or a light ice cream (2% fat milk and possibly protein powder). Any tips for figs specifically? Silly question but do they need to be peeled or prepped in any special way? Thanks!
Hey Folks! Looking to take my wife on a little picnic date over her birthday weekend. We live about halfway between Bristol and Bath so exploring all options! Preferable somewhere fairly peaceful within about half a mile of somewhere free to park would be great, but happy to pay to park somewhere if a particular location makes it particularly worth it!
Thank you :)
My wife’s birthday is coming up and she doesn’t eat much sweet stuff these days, but I’d really like to get her a lovely cake that’s just for one person, either a really lovely individual cupcake in gift packaging, or a tiny birthday cake for one.
Beyond the standard supermarkets, any hidden gems?
As per title. Many thanks :)
Hey fellow UK folks! I’m wanting to try and make a Blackjack (for reference for those outside of the UK, they’re an iconic sweet/candy from days gone by!) vibe Creami - is there a (preferably sugar feee) flavouring that gets close to the Blackjack vibe, so an aniseed/liquorice kinda flavouring?
I love music but am ashamed to say I know very little about music emanating from our own fair city! Recommend me your favourite Bristolian bands/artists.
I have quite varied tastes tbh, my favourite mainstream artists include Matchbox Twenty, Bon Jovi, Fall Out Boy, John Mayer, The Killers, Muse, Zach Bryan, Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Feeder, Oasis, Mark Knopfler, Paramore
So yeah pretty much anything goes!
What’s the verdict on refreezing after processing? Sometimes I want to process at a very unsociable time due to work shifts. If you refreeze after processing can you then enjoy straight from the freezer (after suitable thawing time) or would it stay like a block of ice for hours?
Is it simply a case of using less liquid? I want it so thick that it sticks to my ribs 😂
I absolutely love a cold, super crisp/crunchy apple - absolutely nothing worse than a slightly soft/mushy apple.
Braeburns are pretty consistent in that regard, but looking for recommendations for alternative varieties! Have tried Cosmic Crisp from Asda and a couple of other varieties but yet to find something stellar.
Go!
Bought an unboxed Anchor Blue ocean band on eBay and it looks a lot more navy to my eyes in person than the steely/grey blue that it looks in the official product pictures.
I don’t dislike it, but I want to make sure it’s what was advertised as I can’t get to an Apple Store to compare! Thank you.
Pictured here alongside my blue alpine loop and blue/bright blue trail loop for easy comparison!
