Harvester (CR 10) - A Rural Undead Horror That Reaps More Than Crops

The Harvester is a CR 10 undead horror built for rural nightmares, cursed farmlands, burial mounds, harvest moons, and villages where people whisper that something walks between the fields at night.

I wanted it to feel like a deathly folk-horror figure: not just a skeleton with a scythe, but something ancient, patient, and ritualistic. It does not reap crops. It marks the guilty, stalks the soon-to-be-dead, and leaves behind strange tokens of straw, hair, blood, and bone.

Mechanically, the Harvester is designed to make the battlefield feel oppressive. Its Field of Silence shuts down speech and verbal spellcasting nearby, Harvest the Living can permanently sever the soul of a creature it reduces to 0 hit points, and Sow Dread forces enemies to see glimpses of their own death. It can move without provoking opportunity attacks, punish weakened enemies, and act like a terrifying executioner rather than a simple brute.

This creature is from Undead & Undead: The Ultimate Undead Handbook for 5E and the 2024 Edition available on DriveThruRPG!

Undead are more than shambling corpses and skeletal minions. Undead & Undead is your complete guide to raising the dead, commanding their power, and unleashing them in terrifying new forms - from restless spirits and cursed warriors to spectral lords, zombie dragons, and necromantic abominations.

Goblin Shadowmancer (CR 3) - A Darkness-Wielding Goblin Spellcaster

The Goblin Shadowmancer is a CR 3 goblin spellcaster built around darkness, fear, necrotic magic, and hit-and-run tactics.

I wanted it to feel like a goblin that survives by making the battlefield confusing and dangerous rather than by standing still and trading hits. It can hide or disengage as a bonus action, gains advantages in dim light or darkness, casts spells like darkness, mirror image, counterspell, and fear, and can teleport through shadows with Step of Darkness.

It also has Dark Burst, a recharge ability that releases shadowy energy in a 20-foot radius, dealing necrotic damage and slowing affected creatures.

The page includes optional traits to customize the Shadowmancer further, such as resistance while in darkness, stronger shadow-infused attacks, seeing through magical darkness, making fear harder to resist, regenerating in dim light, or increasing its spell DC while concentrating on darkness.

This creature is from Goblins & Goblins, my manual focused on expanding goblins into more varied roles, encounters, factions, lairs, magic items, and campaign tools.

What’s Inside?

  • Tons of Goblin Statblocks – From the explosive Goblin Alchemist to the fearsome Goblin King, with extra traits and variants for customization.
  • Unique Goblin Races – Expand your bestiary with Desert Goblins, Sky Goblins, Snow Goblins, and Swamp Goblins, each with unique abilities and lairs.
  • Goblin Campaign Tools – Factions, encounter ideas, trap-filled hideouts, and a goblin name table to enrich your adventures.
  • 75+ Magic Items – From general goblin gear to race-specific magic items tailored for each goblin subrace.
  • VTT & Art Resources – Includes 36 art handouts and 28 creature tokens to bring goblins to life at your table.

Goblin Shadowmancer, Goblin Alchemist, and Goblin King - Expanded Goblins for Your Campaign

These pages are from Goblins & Goblins, my manual focused on expanding goblins into a much wider range of roles, encounters, factions, and campaign tools.

This preview includes the Goblin Shadowmancer, a CR 3 spellcaster built around darkness, fear, teleportation, necrotic magic, and optional shadow traits; the Goblin Alchemist, a chaotic potion-maker with random concoctions, explosive flasks, and extra customization options; and the Goblin King, a CR 4 leader who commands nearby goblins, uses legendary actions, and can turn a messy goblin fight into something much more dangerous.

I wanted Goblins & Goblins to make goblins feel fresh again, not just as disposable low-level enemies, but as tricksters, leaders, weird specialists, faction members, recurring villains, or chaotic allies that can show up at many different levels of play.

What’s Inside?

  • Tons of Goblin Statblocks – From the explosive Goblin Alchemist to the fearsome Goblin King, with extra traits and variants for customization.

Aberrant Slayer - A Legendary Greatsword Built to End Things That Should Not Exist

The Aberrant Slayer is a legendary +3 greatsword forged to destroy creatures that should not exist.

I wanted this weapon to feel less like a normal monster-slaying sword and more like a tool of cosmic correction. Its blade is a massive cleaver of unnatural metal, pierced by circular voids that absorb light and distort the space around it. Against aberrations, it deals extra force damage, can restrain them with a failed Constitution save, and if it reduces one to 0 hit points, the creature is not simply killed. Its body is severed from reality and erased, leaving no remains.

It also has stronger void-themed powers, including Reality Cleave, a 60-foot line of force that aberrations have disadvantage against, and Voidbound End, which can trap a target in a featureless extradimensional void where time and space twist in meaningless loops.

The page also includes the Shield of the Unshaped Monarch, a legendary shield made from shifting metal and organic matter that refuses to hold one form. It grants a +3 bonus to AC, protects the wielder from fear and unwanted transformation, and can warp itself to impose disadvantage on an incoming attack. Its strongest feature lets the wielder survive a fatal blow by dropping to 1 hit point and becoming briefly immune to all damage.

Together, the sword and shield feel like relics made for characters who stand against mind flayers, aliens, extra-dimensional beings, eldritch cult creations, and anything reality itself wants gone.

These items are from The Aberrant Codex: Mutations and Aberrations, available on DriveThruRPG! You can also find a more extensive preview on DriveThruRPG or by visiting r/JonnyDM. The manual is built around aberrations, mutations, cosmic horror, warped creatures, strange magic, and other unnatural threats for your 5E campaigns.

What’s Inside:

  • Mutation Rules & Zones – Mechanics for wild magic areas, arcane corruption, and the strange transformations they cause.
  • Character Options – 12 subclasses, 10 backgrounds, 4 new races, and 30 feats themed around mutation, aberration, and forbidden evolution.
  • Spells & Items – 33 spells and 80+ magic items warped by planar influence or unstable energies.
  • Monsters & Templates – Over 150 monster statblocks, from psionic predators to mutated horrors, plus variant rules for custom mutations.
  • VTT Resources – Includes 100+ creature tokens and 125+ art handouts to bring your sessions to life.

A Cloak, a Ring, and a Lantern - Growing Magic Items That Scale from Uncommon to Legendary

These are three scaling magic items from Growing Magic Items, built to start as useful early rewards and remain relevant as characters grow.

The Cloak of Druidic Power is made for druids, beginning with poison resistance and speak with plants before unlocking stronger nature magic, animal communication, shapeshifting, and eventually the ability to summon loyal beasts.

The Ring of Evolving Power is a flexible item that grows with almost any character. It begins by improving a chosen ability score and saving throws, then unlocks spells like shield, haste, and teleport, eventually becoming a powerful personal relic tied to the wearer’s growth.

The Lantern of Eternal Twilight starts as a useful magical light against darkness, then becomes a stronger tool against hidden threats, illusions, undead, and fiends, eventually revealing truth and creating an aura that can paralyze supernatural enemies.

These items are part of Growing Magic Items, a collection of evolving magic gear designed to grow alongside your characters. Each item has multiple tiers of rarity and can unlock new powers through character levels, story milestones, personal achievements, or specific quests, depending on the campaign.

After the collection performed extremely well on DMsGuild and reached bestseller status, I reinvested in the project by recommissioning the artwork, giving the collection brand-new illustrations, light revisions, and a handful of new Growing Magic Items. If you already own it, you can download the updated version for free on DMsGuild.

You can find over 80 Growing Magic Items on DMsGuild. You can also check out my bundle of small D&D manuals on DMsGuild, which includes Growing Magic Items Collection.

Ophrym, the Many-Eyed Fiend (CR 11) - A Demon That Turns Fear, Sleep, and Compulsion into Weapons

The Ophrym, also known as the Many-Eyed Fiend, is a CR 11 demon built around perception, corruption, and battlefield control.

Instead of being another brute that only rushes forward and attacks, the Ophrym uses its many eyes to break enemies apart mentally before tearing them down physically. Its gaze can charm, frighten, or put creatures to sleep, while its Mind Warp Aura makes nearby enemies more vulnerable to Wisdom saves and Intelligence checks. It can also disappear in dim light or darkness, making it especially dangerous in ruined temples, abyssal lairs, underground shrines, and encounters where the party cannot easily control the battlefield.

It still has claws and a venomous tail, but the real danger is how quickly it can disrupt the party’s plans. One failed save can split the group, force someone to flee, shut down a character, or turn a fight into chaos.
