✨️Behavior Summary: Reason for deadline is simply because she is shy and retreats to the back of her kennel. Apple appears to be scared and shy while in her kennel, often retreating and barking.

👉 However ,Apple has shown significant improvement outside the kennel, —warming up to handlers, accepting affection, soliciting attention, and becoming playful. She participated appropriately in playgroup, walked well on leash, and re-kenneled without issue.

🩺 There are no significant medical concerns documented. The primary observation is that the dog is shy and needs a gentle, slow approach.

***NEEDS PLACEMENT BY 8/11***

Meet Dunkin! He was adopted from us last week but was surrendered back today because his medical condition has continued to get worse. He was first noted to have sores and ulcers on the paw pads on Friday. Since then, the condition has progressed significantly. Today, there were severe sores, inflammation, and areas where the paw pads are peeling off on all four legs. There were also sores between the toes and around the paws, as well as sores and inflammation on both elbows. The condition is affecting multiple areas of the paws and legs, with redness, swelling, ulceration, and loss of the normal skin and paw-pad tissue. We are concerned that there may be an underlying serious medical condition causing these changes such as an autoimmune disease, a liver-related skin condition, cancer, or another disease. The dog will need additional testing to determine the cause. This may include bloodwork, skin biopsies, or additional testing by veterinary specialists. Treatment could be extensive and may require medications for several weeks or potentially for the rest of the dogs life. He has more medical concerns than we can handle and manage here and needs placement ASAP

📝 Shelter Notes:

7/31/26: Showed her belly, wagged her tail, and happily zoomed around the runs after being carried outside.

8/2/26: Initially scurried out of her kennel with an extremely low body posture and crawled to the runs. With baby talk she continued walking and returned the same way. Staff described her as very sweet but timid.

8/3/26: Very timid and submissive after being moved for adoption. She crawled to handlers, froze frequently, rolled onto her side or back, licked her lips, and responded positively to treats and gentle encouragement.

8/4/26: Approached with worried eyes and a lowered head. She froze, crawled, scurried between staff's legs, and pancaked repeatedly from fear. Despite this, she responded to treats, baby talk, and gentle petting, eventually relaxing enough to walk on her own. She sought comfort by leaning against people and hugging their legs.

8/5/26: Friendly and wiggly with a wagging tail and soft face. She army crawled in zigzags during her walk and later pulled apart the sheet covering her kennel.

8/6/26: Pippa greeted staff with a wiggly body, wagging tail, and soft open mouth. Although she frequently pancaked and army crawled while walking, she continued trying her best and eventually pulled forward on leash. She became distressed when separated from another dog, vocalizing nonstop from the other side of the wall.

💖 Pippa is a gentle, affectionate puppy whose fear is completely overshadowing her true personality. Beneath her timid exterior is a sweet girl who melts for baby talk, treats, gentle pets, and human kindness. She seeks comfort by leaning into people, wagging her tail, and even giving happy zoomies once she feels safe. At only 11 months old, Pippa deserves the chance to build confidence in a loving home instead of losing her life because she's scared.

8/6/26: Homie greeted staff while avoiding eye contact but kept his kennel clean overnight. He refused to walk and required two staff members to carry him to a clean kennel. Once inside, he quietly rested on his blanket.

8/7/26: While attempting to leash Homie, he immediately laid down on the floor. Staff performed a light muzzle and tried to pick him up, but he pulled back and pancaked on the floor.

💖 Homie is a gentle giant who appears completely overwhelmed by the shelter environment after being abandoned by his owner. Rather than showing aggression, he shuts down with fear-avoiding eye contact, refusing to walk, and quietly lying on his blanket. Despite his fear, he has kept his kennel clean and allows staff to handle him, even when they must carry him. Dogs like Homie often blossom once they're out of the stressful shelter environment. This sweet, frightened boy deserves the chance to feel safe again instead of losing his life because he's too scared to cope.

This sweet girl has significant medical needs, yet SEAACA has given her less than one day to secure a lifesaving placement. That is not a meaningful opportunity—it is an impossible deadline.

Rescuing a medically vulnerable dog cannot happen within a few hours. Responsible rescue organizations must review veterinary records, consult with their medical teams, secure an appropriate foster home, arrange funding, obtain approvals when needed, and coordinate transportation. These critical steps take time.

By providing less than 24 hours, SEAACA has effectively denied qualified rescues a fair chance to help her. This arbitrary deadline is both unjustified and deeply unfair to a dog whose life depends on people having enough time to mobilize.

She deserves the opportunity to be seen, evaluated, and considered by the rescue community before an irreversible decision is made. Every dog deserves more than a few hours to fight for their life. Please extend the deadline for Dog ID: 27-01377 and give her the fair chance she deserves.

⚕️ Medical: Rescue only. Ruth has a large ulcerated abdominal mass, but she’s still eating well and has a great appetite — a hopeful sign. She is incredibly sweet, gentle, and easy to handle.

💔 It’s heartbreaking to think this mass was allowed to grow to this size before she received help. Ruth belonged to someone, and she deserved medical care long before it reached this point. Instead, she arrived at the shelter when it could no longer be ignored.

Ruth is now out of time and urgently needs rescue. She has an approximately 8.5-inch mass on her lower abdomen with multiple areas of ulceration. Shelter notes indicate it may be mammary, dermal, or another type of mass and could be benign or malignant. She also needs further evaluation for dental disease, possible infection/eye concerns, and a possible heart murmur.

📝 Shelter Notes:

8/4/26: During intake, Wolf thrashed and rolled onto his back once leashed and muzzled. While tethered he repeatedly jumped on the walls, struggled to settle, whimpered, and barked loudly at dogs in the runs. Additional veterinary staff assisted with completing his intake exam.

8/5/26: Wolf was very vocal in his kennel and in the runs when other dogs were nearby.

8/6/26: Wolf greeted staff at his kennel door with a fast wagging tail and jumped excitedly on the kennel door. He allowed easy leashing and walked to and from the potty yard, though he zig-zagged along the way. While in his kennel and the potty yard, he barked at dogs passing by.

📋 Medical Notes:

Heartworm negative.

Possible flea allergy dermatitis on his hindquarters ("pants area").

Otherwise medically normal.

Received DA2PP, Bordetella, Rabies, deworming, and flea prevention.

🩷 Beautiful Bella (A599245) is 1 year old and 30 lbs.  Poor Bella came in as a confiscation – which means her owner did not provide for her.  She is sweet and friendly and allows full handling.  She is wiggly and excited when being leashed and walks nicely.  Bella likes to sit in her handler’s lap.  Bella does not like going back into her kennel, so becomes a bit agitated.  Bella could live in a home with canine siblings if separated at first and introduced slowly and appropriately.  Bella is still a puppy and is rescue only and is just the perfect size. Shedeserves to be loved and in a fabulous foster home.

💙 Meet sweet Gordo (A601328) with his little teeth!  He is 5 years old and 56 lbs. Gordo was surrendered by his owner due to a move. He is a gentleman who walks very nicely on a leash.  Gordo is independent in the play yard and seeks social. He gently returns to his kennel. Gordo is house broken, good with children and is accustomed to living in a home.  Gordo prefers female dogs and could live kindly with a canine sister.  Gordomisses his home and is finding it very stressful living in the shelter environment.  Let’s get him into a home to love him. Heis available for adoption but can also be fostered.

💙 Big, gorgeous Polaris (A561282) is 5 years old and 83 lbs. —  and seems to be a GSD/Labby mix.  Sadly, he was adopted last year and was found as a stray in July.  He does not like going back into his kennel or sharing his food (which is typical in shelter environment).  Polaris allows full handling, is house-broken, easily leashed and walks nicely.  He seeks social, loves treats and knows many commands – even has his own unique handshake.  Polaris likes water and loves to swim.  He shared his kennel kindly with multiple dogs when he was at the shelter last year and recently shared his kennel with Rocky (intact male dog).  OCAS post from Jan. 2025 indicates that Polaris “liked the company of other dogs” and that “he is nothing but an incredibly big and soft teddy bear.” This young man would love to be in a home.  Polaris is available for adoption but can also be fostered.

7/17/2026: Loose, wiggly body. Walked outside with a wagging tail.

7/22/2026: Moved to the south morning group. Bruno stood at the front of his kennel barking, but presented a loose body, panting, neutral ears, and kept his kennel clean.

7/24/2026: Initially walked semi-tight on leash to the run where he explored and was vocal. Returned to his kennel on a loose leash.

7/25/2026: Bruno greets staff at the front of his kennel with a loose body, wagging tail, and soft closed mouth. He can be a little vocal in the mornings but quiets down throughout the day.

7/26/2026: Bruno walked out with a tight leash and a super wiggly body to the runs. Walking back he maintained a loose leash, happily walked through the sprinklers, briefly paused to watch a bird, then returned to walking beside staff.

7/27/2026: Bruno sits at the front of his kennel as staff approach. Easy to leash and walks on a loose leash to the runs. He relaxes outside, walks back loosely, and rests quietly in his kennel.

7/31/2026: Bruno greeted staff with a wiggly body. He walked semi-tight at first but relaxed once outside, slowing down with a gently wagging tail.

8/4/2026: Bruno greets staff at his kennel door with a wiggly body, soft open mouth, tongue hanging out, and a wagging tail. Once leashed he walks out loosely. In the runs he offers playful bows to his neighboring dogs and walks back on a wiggly loose leash. He stays quiet in his kennel but gets excited and wiggly when staff come to greet him.

🚑 Medical Notes:

7/14/2026: Weighed 55.0 lbs. Normal intake exam. Vaccinated (DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies), dewormed, flea prevention administered, and Heartworm Negative. Neuter status noted and later confirmed.

7/28/2026: Weighed 55.0 lbs. Normal exam.
