Losing Weight at 29 – Is It Harder Than at 22?

I am a 29M. I am 5 feet 9 inches and weigh around 79 kg (175 pounds), which is overweight for my height. I remember my ideal weight was around 70 kg (154 pounds), and I looked nice.

When I was in my youth, like at age 22, I was able to reduce my weight quite easily. I was 85 kg back then and came down to 68 kg in 3 months.

I have heard metabolism just drastically declines after our youth, like from 25. But now, since I am 29 and very old compared to 22 and approaching old age too, it would be difficult for me to achieve.

Any tips on how I can achieve it? Would you recommend me to do like what I did in my youth, or would you recommend me to slow down a bit due to older age?

28M – Testosterone 743 ng/dL but Low Vitamin D (25 ng/mL). Any Correlation?

I’m a 28M. My total testosterone is 743 ng/dL, while my vitamin D is fairly low at 25 ng/mL.

I’m wondering if low vitamin D could be affecting my testosterone levels or overall hormonal health. I am planning to take supplements for vitamin d too.

Are India’s Top Cities Richer Than China’s Wealthiest Regions?

The average household income in Tier 1 cities in India (Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Delhi) is around ₹23 LPA.

In China, the highest disposable income per capita is about $27,900 per year, which is roughly equivalent to ₹23–24 LPA in 2023. Shanghai is the richest region in China. If you consider the top five regions instead of just the highest, the average would likely be slightly lower, which makes it interesting to note that income levels in India’s top six cities appear broadly comparable or even slightly higher than of China

Is life worth living after the age of 30?

I recently turned 29, and since then I’ve been questioning this. My father passed away at the age of 29, he died by suicide. My paternal grandfather died at the age of 27. Sometimes, I feel like they didn’t have to face the old age of 30, and in a strange way, that makes me feel at peace for them. The only thing that hurts is that my father left me and my sister to be raised by a single mother, when those responsibilities should have been shared.

My mother has been worrying a lot ever since I turned 27 because of the trauma associated with this age in our family. She sacrificed a lot for us. Still, when I look at my father at 28–29 in old photos, he seems quite like a young man chilled and carefree yet perhaps he just wasn’t feeling okay due to the external pressure, Lately, I’ve been feeling something similar.....

Why is the minimum withdrawal age 58–60 in EPFO?

The life expectancy in India was around 30 at the time of independence, which means most people died before 35 throughout history. This also means that many people can still die after 30 due to natural causes even now. Why has the government set the minimum withdrawal age at 58–60 when many die at 30–35? I am 29 right now, and even I might die within the next few years. In my opinion, the minimum withdrawal age should be 30.

Who is the oldest person in this sub?

The oldest person I’ve seen here is probably around 85. I’ve never seen anyone in their 90s, though. Is anyone here in their 90s?

I’m approaching 40 soon, and it feels like time is flying

I am 29, and I feel like I’ll be 40 very soon.

The time from 18 to 29 went by really fast. 2015 doesn’t feel that long ago it was when I turned 18, and now here we are in 2026 and I’m 29. I feel like time will only speed up from here, and I’ll be 40 in no time.

So, what advice would you give to someone who is approaching their 40s?

Should people who do not have children be penalized or punished?

The total fertility rate (TFR) is now below the replacement level, which means we may see fewer children and more older adults in the future. This could be harmful for our society. Given this situation, should people be forced to have children, or face penalties if they choose not to?

People born in 2003 are closer in age to people born in 1997 than to those born in 2020. Is anyone surprised?

They’re closer in age, but I don’t think 23-year-olds are closer in maturity to 29-year-olds than to 6-year-olds. Because pre frontal cortex only gets developed by 25 so I don't think 23 year olds have fully fledged developed brains.

Why are fertility rates so low in most countries compared to places like DRC?

In much of the world, the fertility rate is between 1 and 2.5, whereas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) it’s around 6.2.

I understand that DRC is a poorer country, but people there still have large families and seem to lead happier lives compared to those who choose not to have children at all. Children bring happiness into the world, and having a family can feel meaningful on a personal and even spiritual level. God will be happier with us as well.

I’m not saying the ideal should be as high as 6.2, but maybe something closer to 3 could be better than the very low fertility rates we see in many countries today.

Is it really that difficult, or is it more about changing priorities and lifestyle choices?

High Testosterone but Highly Introverted, Is This Common?

People generally say that the more testosterone you have, the more extroverted you would be.

My testosterone is fairly high, near the upper normal range, but I am not even close to being extroverted. I am super introverted. I barely talk with strangers. I do solo traveling, and I hardly talk with locals unless it's absolutely necessary. I try to avoid conversations as much as possible.

I am a minimalist traveler. I get a kind of “high” just from observing their lifestyle, like how someone might feel after watching a movie. It’s the same for me. I enjoy observing nature and people's lifestyles.

So I wonder whether this type of case exists: high testosterone + high introversion?

No “middle-aged” signs at 29 — will things change after 30?

I am 29 years old and currently have a testosterone level of 653 µg/L. When I was younger, around 21, it was roughly the same just slightly lower. I have often heard that testosterone starts to decrease after the age of 25, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for me so far.

However, since I am approaching what is often considered middle age (30 and beyond), I am concerned that testosterone might start to drop more noticeably. At the moment, I do not have any typical “middle-aged” traits like a beer belly, high body fat percentage, or getting tired quickly. But I wonder if these changes might become more pronounced after I turn 30.

No “Middle-Age” Signs Yet at 29, Will 30 Change That?

I am 29 years old. I have a testosterone level of 653 µg/L. When I was a youth/young adult, like at 21, it was kind of the same, just a little less. I have seen that testosterone decreases after the 25th birthday, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with me.

But now, since I am entering middle age (which starts from 30), testosterone might start to drop aggressively. I do not have any uncle/middle-aged qualities yet, like a beer belly, high fat percentage, or getting tired quickly, but maybe after 30 it might become more pronounced. Any thoughts on this?

1997 Born Here I Feel Closer to Boomer/Gen X Than Gen Z

I feel like people born between 1950 and 1998 had fairly similar childhoods mostly analog, followed by a digital adulthood. I was born in 1997, and I often feel closer to Boomers/Gen X than to people born after 2000. Technology has advanced rapidly over the past decade, and those born after 2000 may never fully understand the analog life that Boomers, Gen X and Millennials experienced.
