Watched the 1st episode of Macross Delta. Loving the songs

and the premise is pretty unique. And oh man, these idols are singing in the middle of a war.

I found this series through a Macross Delta song on YouTube. Can I start with that series?

I heard one of the biggest criticisms of Delta is that it leans much more into the idol aspect, but I'm honestly fine with that.

My only concern is the world-building. If Delta expects you to already know a lot of lore from the previous series, I might end up getting confused. If that's the case, I'd rather start with an earlier entry.

So, if Delta relies heavily on previous knowledge, which Macross series should I watch first?
