Please do not bully this young lady for her complexion being "too light"

Please lead with kindness she is gorgeous and she is a very good visually for Storm. She reminds me of a young Yaya Decosta another Storm fancast I had years ago. I know if Coogler had a hand in casting her she will be great.

Please don't come for her for not being the internets pick and let's wait and see how it all turns out. The casting is pretty good so far imo.

My Review of Smallville S4-5: Lois Begins

  1. I do miss Pete! He and Clark's friendship made Clark more accessible and less depressed and melodramatic (which only happens more often in his absence) so I did find that sad. I know he comes back later but the way the show kind of discarded him after his departure I found strange. He was the first civilian Clark told his secret to. Surely he would try to keep in touch with him. That being said Lois made up for a lot of my disappointment on that front which leads me to...

  2. Erica Durance as Lois was a breath of fresh air and it really saved the show by giving it more comedy and whimsy. Her presence and their will they/ won't they (the dunk tank scene was so intimately cute and hot... poor Chloe can't catch a break lol) really helped to create a sense of where the show was headed without being too heavy handed with the breadcrumbs. I think her chemistry with the entire cast is just pitch perfect. Making her Chloé's cousin was a clever idea and I think it adds complexity to the dynamics. Specially her connection to the Kent family and her at first annoying pseudo step sibling vibe that became a friendship over time with Clark was a perfect way to approach it on the heels of the Clana seemingly neverending soap opera.

  3. Lex and Lana hooking up is nothing new to their lore but.... is anyone else confused about how much of an age gap their is between them? They have to be at least a half a decade apart. He rightfully called Jason out for grooming Lana then literally does exactly the same thing himself the very next season. I almost hope the Lana is a undercovered meteor freak pheromone powered metahuman theory was true because at least then these guys get a bit of a reprieve. As it stands now they're both creeps. That being said... I think I do like them together it's gross when you think about it too hard but in the context of the show it's fine. She's an adult by the time they start hooking up but he couldn't have waited a few years? Eh on to my next point.

  4. Brainiac and James Marsters- I feel his addition felt a bit undercooked but overall I enjoyed him. I think this version being the T2 terminator is an interesting take. Again, clearly wanting to call back to the Buffy fandom which is nice as a fan. By now though the shows are so different it wouldn't have swayed anyone if they were wanting to get a similar vibed show.

  5. Finally Chloe really turned a corner with me these seasons. I like she isn't always talking about like liking Clark and him not. She gets her own story outside of the love triangle and I enjoy her coming to terms with her mother's abandonment and becoming a confidant when learning the truth about Clark. Her work introduction of the Daily Planet are great set additions that only get more prominent as the series progresses.

So far I really enjoyed 5 and 4 was a good set up for the more Kryptonian elements they are trying to add such as the Fortress of Solitude! So awesome to see that realized! Anyway I will be back with 6-7 soon.

My Smallville Rewatch and Thoughts

Doing my first rewatch of the series in full since it originally aired black in the early 2000s.

Just a few observations:

  1. I loved the early episodes in the first two seasons. I found a few a bit repetitive but the overall vibe was very interesting and kept me engaged.

  2. I noticed there are strong similarities to other teen shows of the time most notably Buffy, So Weird (wall of weird) and especially Roswell 99 and it almost seemed to be in response to the cancelation of that show. It would find its own way later on but early episodes seemed like direct parody or homage to these shows.

  3. Tom Welling is great as Clark! His chemistry with everyone especially Martha, Lex and Lana is spot on. I think he can be a bit more controlling and a bit stalkeresque at times with his friends but since he is a child in this I take those rare instances as him learning to be a man and there's nothing wrong with character development. Older Clark would not do some of these misguided things but it's nice to see Superman not always do the right thing.

  4. I'm currently on season 3 and wow what a tonal shift! In good and bad ways. I'll get back to this as I finish the season but it seems they're trying to push Lex further into his villian arc.

The running away from home after a fight with parents and trying to reassess your life in the big city on your own after a traumatic event in the second season finale is very Buffy coded again.

  1. Sometimes I can't stand Chloe. I disliked her character long before her actors personal issues became worldwide news. But on rewatch there are genuine times she would be so unlikeable and selfish I wondered how she became so many peoples favorite character. She comes across as a femcel the first season, gets better the second and backsides the 3rd when she starts invading everyone's privacy with a dangerous gas she inhaled willingly.

I know she gets better in the later years when I became more of a regular veiwer. I also hate her hsir this season.

Anyway, I will keep you posted on my thoughts moving forward.

X-Men 2000 Concept Art Come to Life Fanart

Using the unused concept art fof X1 I decided to take it and make them to see if they could have worked in reality if the movies were made later after the leather craze had ended. This is what I came up with. Let me know what you think. Could this work for the reboot in your opinion? If you like this I might do a Brotherhood edition too.
