2024 Audi R3 vs 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia?

Audi has around 65,000km, Alfa with 45,000km

I heard Alfa is the better drivers car and nothing gets better at this level. But reliability is a concern, especially with electronics

All in Canadian dollars

(Edit: I meant A3 not R3)

An Alfa Romeo Giulia as a future car. Stupid?

Apologies if this is a frequently asked question here. For context I’m 17 years old, just bought my first car (a cheap Hyundai) and expect to drive this for at least 2 years or more.

Maybe it’ll be longer before I can afford an Alfa, but I’ve just recently began daydreaming over one

I have a connection with Italy and Italian cars because of my family and adoption history, so it’s a bit sentimental as well.

Aside from it being an absolutely stunning and unique car

But I’m just curious if it would be smart for me to strive for one given reliability concerns?

If that even matters

I’ve heard as long as you’re on top of oil changes that it’s fine. Also, would it be stupid to buy used? 2019+ model, 60,000km or less??

Sorry for the many questions. Thanks in advance!

Found out I’m adopted (and Italian) at 17 years old

Long story short, my parents and entire family lied to me my entire life (and my twin brother) about my identity and ethnicity. I was raised in a German/Slavic type culture and so on. Which was sad because I really had an attachment to Germany and my grandparents.

So much so that after my grandfather passed I started teaching myself German to talk with that side of the family so they wouldn’t forget the language. It was all bullshit in the end unfortunately.

I ended up getting curious this year and took an Ancestry and I got back no matches with my family and 50% Italian results.

From this, and adoption agreements I searched for afterwards, I found out I was adopted and confronted my parents and I’m now curious about getting citizenship.

I’m in Canada if it helps!

What does this sub think of Noah Kahan?

Really been into him lately. His new album is amazing in my opinion and it’s just raw and acoustic music. Good vibes and instrumentals, good vocals

In that folk/americana genre

He’s taken up most of my listening time

17m, looking to skydive this year for the first time

Hey guys! As the title says, I just turned 17 years old and want to skydive this year.

Not really that scared of heights and never have. And honestly just seems like a sport I’d like to get into.

I figure if I like it enough after the tandem jump, I’ll get my license and buy some equipment and do it myself in a year or two

Just curious about the process and experience here?

Question about applying to work here

Maybe this isn’t the right sub, but I sent my application for my local Dollarama that’s hiring (on an app called AppyHere) but they rejected

I’m 17 years old and looking for weekend shifts

Would they have rejected because I mentioned this would be my first retail job and that my only experience is with landscaping/labourer work?

I’ve been working for 5 years at various construction companies. But this year they aren’t hiring

But I don’t think stocking shelves and operating cash would be a massive learning curve

Trying to figure out where to study finance as a Canadian (17m) (please read post!)

Just so I don’t ramble! :

I’m a 17yo Canadian who’s been running my own business for a few years in the finance space. I have my own published work, and a respectable list of connections in the space, but my high school credentials are incomplete and I’ll likely be entering university as a mature student.

I’m also set to sit down with a retired portfolio manager from the city to chat next month.

Which happened by fluke because I happened to work on his property for an asphalt company last summer.

I’m interested in finance or a related field and trying to figure out where in the world makes the most sense to study.

Or if that’s as obvious an answer as I think it is, just what to do going forward.

I’ve heard the US is the gold standard but the cost is bad. Then there’s the UK which is the next closest. Or Canada obviously.

My question is has anyone else navigated a non-traditional path into a finance program?

And does where you go actually matter that much for breaking into the industry if you already have valuable connections?

Not to mention a working and growing business in the space.

Couldn’t I also do a CFA without an undergraduate?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, I’m asking this because I’m ignorant after all

Thanks!

Does Australia take Canada seriously, or are we just seen as America’s polite roommate?

Essentially the title. Especially given recent events, but overall too.

How does Australia see Canada as a whole? As a country, its institutions, and just its people?

As a Canadian, I think of Australians as Canadians without the need for a coat.

A place of kind funny and outgoing people that you’d bump into and talk your whole life with on the street. And a place with a unique culture and a lot of fun and dangerous animals.

But also smart people, and a place I’m considering studying for university. Which is why I’m curious haha.

Dan is such a good song

I’ve been on an absolute tear with this new album. I didn’t even know I liked Noah Kahan this much until this new album came out. And I already liked Stick Season but only a couple songs

The Great Divide has at least 10 really great songs I’ve listened to on repeat.

Doors, End of August, American Cars, Porch Light, but Dan is my newest one and it’s such a heartfelt and amazing song

Excuse the rant but I’m obsessed

Can everyone genuinely just contact their local MP with me regarding Hockey Night in Canada abruptly ending? Starting the chain (17 years old)

• Hockey is already unaffordable for many families as it is
• Our telecom services are monopolized and one of them just so happens to own all the broadcasting rights to our national sport + some of the most valuable Canadian sports teams
• It’s eventually gonna cost fucking $1,000 a year to watch the NHL and other hockey games in Canada

And the government’s worried about banning social media for teenagers

I’m gonna keep it hockey related for this post, so right now I really wanna try and say something about this. It could be as simple as a “Bruh do something about this” email

But if enough people bring it up, they’ll have no choice but to think about it, or best talk about it

This country is pushing its hockey culture out slowly but surely

Just found out I’m adopted and Italian at 17 years old, and have a few questions

TLDR on the main issue: My parents lied to me my entire life and I was born and live in Canada

My adopted parents both gave me pathways for EU citizenship because I planned to maybe study internationally when it got to college time and we thought it would be easier to just do that (I never agreed to this but whatever)

Especially considering the options we had:

On my dad’s side he was born in England so naturally I have a right to UK citizenship

Then on my mom’s side, she has the right to both German and Serbian (former Yugoslavia?) citizenship from her parents, with her biological father (she was an affair baby) who holds Hungarian citizenship.

I always thought I was German/Ukrainian, raised with all that culture and food. But then I did Ancestry and found that all those times I asked if I was adopted, they lied to my face and I’m 50% Italian this March. But that’s another story

I know it’s a bit of a weird question, but despite this I’m still interested in that citizenship pathway I’ve been wanting to go down. But now wondering if Italy is another pathway if I can find my biological family line

Thanks.

So I may have eye cancer

Just a reminder guys to get your eyes checked!

I remember making a post on this little freckle a while back and since then it’s gotten ever so slightly more pronounced. So I will be getting it checked sometime this week

Thinking it’s some sort of melanoma. Granted I’m only 17 so stay safe!
