Is CBT therapy invalidating for narcissists victims?

I ask this, because i'm currently living in a very toxic familiar environment (check the sub name), and when i asked what kind of treatment could need a pacient with chronic anxiety and depression, who was neglected and abused by narcissistic family, many people said that CBT tends to be very dismissal.

Is this true?

I'm not sure if i really have alternatives

After just two sessions, i think i want to change of therapist.

It's curious, because it's not that i felt abused or anything, in fact my current therapist it's always talking about how the system makes us sick, and that's great for a therapist!

The thing is that my sessions feel more like intellectual discussions, in which he monologues, and i sometimes vent about my toxic environment, instead of talking about the things i want to talk and fix.

Looking for alternatives, i feel so lost, and surrounded by CBT or similar, instead of the alternative focus this person offered me.

I don't know what to do!

People using internet terminology in a serious manner concerns me...

Many times, when i'm criticizing the toxic consumption internet culture, people refers me to things like "Goomba Fallacy" or something like that, and i tend to ask ask myself: Are these people even real? They talk like this in real life?

And if they're bots (most likely), then why am i even bothering anymore, you know?

Is this the "big change" that the internet has to offer?

Have you ever felt that you don't fit in the "ART WORLD", mostly because who you are or what you believe?

I'm not necessarily talking about impostor syndrome, insecurities or inferiority complex; i'm talking about if you feel that your personal values or "ideas", make you less compatible with the art definition that most people have.

I just wanted to hear the perspective from other people still interested in the "arts".

From one victim to another

Honestly, i don't hate you. I really don't. After all, you're just following a dogma that humankind have imposed to everyone for centuries.

If i writing this to you, it's mostly because the hope you make me feel in other time, and because i need to feel, at least once, that i'm not talking to the wall about this issue.

And yes, i'm calling it issue, despite what you try to convince me about art.

I admit that i feel some kind of pleasure remembering when you told me that i would change my mind about my anti-art philosophy, and thinking about how wrong you were.

Of course, all kind of pleasure banishes when i see so many brothers and sisters hooked to the damn art. Worshipping it. Destroying their happiness in its name.

I will never understand how can you call art something "beautiful", when its supposed universality would prove that we're its slaves?

You don't call the kidnapper who drugs you and keeps you prisoner someone "beautiful", just because chloroform makes you feel relaxed.

Why, then, must i consider music, painting, photography and writing as sacred gifts, when my brain doesn't give me an option about needing the stimuli?

But again, i remember that i was just like you: someone who wanted to fill the world with art and color, and all that garbage.

I learned my lesson in the hard way, seeing the man behind the curtain, or in this case, the false god. A god who promises a child their freedom and an adult, their greatness.

So, you can chase this hoax called art all you want, in the same way a stupid dog chases its tail. It's human history in all of its splendor.

I chose myself. Something your precious art would never allow me to do, and believe when i tell you, that even if i can't get rid of the strings that force me to dance to the music, or to go to the movie theater, nor you, nor anyone will convice me to smile to our puppeteer, called ART.

Gracias.

Therapists are f*cking vultures!

I had spent a lot of time, trying to get emotional support that would not make my wallet bleed, and now i see how predatory amd greedy therapists are.

"You can't receive therapy once a month, because the therapist needs to 'go deep' into the issue, and i'm not going to make strategies for you to work!"

"You can't receive two half hour sessions! One hour sessions are mandatory, otherwise i cannot receive my whole chec...i mean, because of Freudian bullcrap!"

Literally, go see my latest interaction here.

And these are the same people who go whinning about people "choosing no to go to therapy".

Go to fucking hell!

One hour therapy sessions are necessary?

I'm financially struggling, but i think i really need therapy.

I can only afford 1 session per month, but then i thought about what would happen if a divide my one hour session in two shorter sessions, every two weeks?

Are half hour sessions enough?

Do you believe in "Destinied Realities"?

Keeping it short, even if is still a little ambiguous, my question is if you believe in realities that, despite not necessary being desired at first, you shift into, one way or another, because some kind of "superior purpose"

Of course, that would mean some kind of spiritual or religious belive, so tha is up to you.

Does anyone know why Startpage's anonymus view doesn't work on Tor anymore?

In case you're wondering, no, i didn't change my settings at all.

What's the best material (in your opinion), for a Hard Determinism enthusiast, for starters?

Question inspired by the rereading of Ligotti's Conspiracy, and as someone practically new in this kind of field.

As the title suggest, i'm looking for academic material, that could help a newcomer as me, to know the basis and arguments for hard determinism.

As a little note, i'm already familiar with Sapolsky's work, in case that you have him in mind.

Newcomer, looking for Hard Determinism material

I'm rereading Ligotti's "Conspiracy against human race", and i got inspired in looking material arguing against free will.

Of course, asking for exclusive pessimistic takes, would be very limited, so i'm open to suggestions.

Note, that i'm already familiar with Sapolsky's work, in case that you have him in mind.
