I’ve now seen the movie twice in theaters and I wanted to share some positives and criticisms

Just to put it out there. I really love the first 3 movies, enjoyed the 4th. Couldn’t even finish the 5th it was god awful. I very much enjoyed this new movie. I had a really good time watching it and both times the audience in the theater seemed to love it. There wrre a good chunk of jokes that didn’t work but I felt there was a lot that did so I wanted to point out some things I noticed/felt about both from what I could remember.

Positives/things I thought were funny:

The lady swallowing the pearls when Teyana was making a scene then you could hear her choking them back up right after.

The Rose lady calling Teyana a cheap bitch and Teyana responds saying “
Heard you hoe”

Ghostfaces face after the Avengers beat him up

The final destination amusement park

Cindy telling Sarah “Sorry that’s how you found out Santa doesn’t exist” after the Terrifier scene

Rays impression impression of Buffalo Bill

Cindy and Brenda pouring the liquor out and Cindy not knowing how to do it right

Doofy talking shit about Jack but he was actually looking at himself in the mirror

Ghostface chasing Tuesday and they were both on Nitrous so their brains were moving in slomo

“Like father like…. Son?”

“I blame the manosphere”

The ice joke followed by Gregg’s son saying he’s too white to do those kinds of jobs

Ray copying get out running plus they brought back the Uncle Ray line

The 4th wall break of Cindy’s stunt double

Brenda’s son trying to get Ghostface not to kill him by bringing up race

Marlons impression of Shaq

Criticisms:
Ray sinners scene probably my least favorite which was a little disapointing since his scenes were the funniest parts of the og + the finger in the butt thing could’ve been done better but I’m glad they brought back.

When Cindy mentioned that her house was booby trapped I was expecting more out of that like multiple booby traps hitting them as the convo went on so I was disappointed

Doofy said he didn’t wanna go but pulled up in the next scene, felt like there was a scene missing

I liked Smallhands quick scene but it made me want more. With the interrogation scene I thought it was a missed opportunity or to bring back David Cross

Unless I’m missing something the Epstein joke seemed lazy

Tuesday said she would bootleg the Jermaine tubi movie and I get the joke I guess but Tubi is free so why would she need to bootleg it?

Didn’t really care for all the pussy popping lines

I haven’t seen Kpop Demon hunters so I’m not sure how much more I would’ve enjoyed that scene if I did but the only thing I didn’t really like about it was the cat. Made me feel really uncomfortable

Miscellaneous:
Firstly I wanted to say that Ghostface was the absolute best part of the movie imo. His voice is really cool as were some of his kills. I was a bit shocked to see how many people didn’t like the Kai Cenat scene. I actually don’t really like streaming stuff at all but that scene ended up being one of my favorite parts in the movie especially when Ghostface kept celebrating after he killed Kai.

I would’ve very much liked more of Brenda/Cindy/Ray and hopefully we get more of them next movie but I didn’t mind there being a lot of Shorty. I recently have found that people don’t like his whole character a whole lot but I think he’s really funny for the most part.

I’m not sure if I’m reaching or it was just underdeveloped but Greggs “son” seemed to have anger issues just like Greg did in 1 and I kinda wanted to see more of that

In both screenings I noticed a few jokes my theater didn’t laugh at all at was the They/Them Train jokes, the cops talking about voting for Trump, and the Britney Spears knives joke which I didn’t really laugh at either

The ghostface got knocked out by nurse ratchet in the hospital but they didn’t unmask him 🤔

It was seeming like there was a real storyline until shorty got sent to the sunken place then it seemed like the movie activated into skit city which I kind of understand with Ghostface going after everyone but it was a little jarring. I was entertained tho.

Didn’t notice until the 2nd watch that at least in the hospital scene Doofy still had that stupid Usual Suspects ankle walk 🤣

Unfortunately the white chicks scene was spoiled for me but still enjoyed it nonetheless

I would’ve loved to have seen the blackface sinners scene. It seems like the Wayans backed out of a few jokes out of fear or maybe something else but I really wish they would’ve gone for some of the things they were hyping up as far as crossing lines.

The clit blunt joke was a little uncomfortable to get through but it has a funny payoff

I somehow didn’t realize until they made it obvious near the end that the horny girl was supposed to be Mikey Madison’s character from S6 but I loved her imitating how she shot in the reveal scene of that movie. The way she was moving when she died was super creepy too.

Anyway thanks if you read all that, I saw so many people posting about the movie the past few days with the same recycled questions and topics so I wanted to provide something a little extra. All in all I had a really good time with this movie and I’m looking forward to streaming it at home. I can see why some people don’t like it and some of the “criticisms” have seemed a bit harsh especially for the kind of movie it is but I know what world we’re living in so none of it is surprising. If I had one disappointment it would be that I wanted more and by not I mean more scenes. Hopefully there’s an extended cut released at least on home media or something. Give it a 7/10

Takahashi really loved using Kagome for Panel Breaks

She did others as well but mostly for Kagome. Fit Check

On Season 1 still trying to figure out how I feel about Debra’s Snark/Bitchiness

I have no doubt it’s gonna get worse so I can personally see it going 2 ways for me. 1: She’ll get worse and I’ll be watching and waiting each episode to see how far she and Ray will go to hell on eachother which would at least be interesting since he’s obviously at least partially to blame for her attitude what with his being emotionally and physically distant from his family but always wanting sex from her and not to mention him being super whiney so I will be able to compartmentalize and just watch them go tit for tat.

Or 2: she’s gonna get so bad that it’ll be hard to overlook so even when Ray might deserve it, she’ll be so damn annoying I won’t even care. Or maybe a 3rd option that I’ll come to find. Thanks for reading

Btw I’m not just talking about this specific clip it was just an example. I’m sure this is probably a very tired subject but she’s very overbearing at times.

Not sure if this is a hot take but this was the only time Trigger has ever missed

I was bored to tears and very disappointed

What is your favorite anime that was obviously influenced by NGE? (Besides Gainax & Trigger projects)

Inuyashas scar in chapter 65

I know it’s just a coincidence but it’s kinda cool how Inuyasha has a crazy “Scar” in the same chapter that Onigumo is revealed

What’s the trope called when the plot of the episode just so happens to intersect with whatever very specific thing the character(s) has going on at the time?

I know I didn’t really explain it very well in the title but here’s some examples:

There’s an episode where a character is having self confidence issues about being short and there just so happens to be a vendor that comes into town selling potions that make you taller (with consequences of course).

Or one character is tired of another characters behavior that might or might not happen on a regular basis but for that specific episode they are beyond fed up so when the characters inevitably screws up on whatever that action was that’s the breaking point

Or a character has a random nightmare about something and now all of a sudden they have to face it in real life
