🆘Final Plea 7/1! LEEANNE #A657270 is a 2-3 y/o Pittie (HW-) who needs to love & kindness. She is very sweet & friendly! Urgently seeking loving foster/forever home! 612 Canino Rd. Houston, TX (Adoptable Out of State)

Before you scroll...Please really look at LEEANNE. She's the kind of dog people pass by without a second thought. A mostly black pittie, a little under the weather with the saddest eyes you've ever seen. 🤧

But she's so much more than that. LEEANNE is heartworm negative—a small miracle for a stray—and she deserves the chance to find out what love, kindness, and safety feel like. 🏡❤️

No dog should wonder if anyone will ever choose them.

Please don't let LEEANNE'S story end because people kept scrolling. She deserves a full belly, a soft bed , and a family that will finally show her the kindness she's been missing. Please help us get LEEANNE safely out.

Because of her length of stay, LEEANNE is now urgent. She can be euthanized as early as tomorrow morning if she doesn't have a foster, adopter, or rescue plan. 💔

LOCAL FOSTERS are NEEDED for rescues to save lives as all boarding facilities are full!

Mom Diva and puppy Dani are in danger of Euthanasia at BARC Houston tomorrow 6/22 @ 1 pm CT, A2081204. Marked as rescue only but can be adopted through a rescue or fostered locally. Please share this mom and her baby.

🆘️ Mom and puppy in danger of Euthanasia at BARC, Houston! 🆘️
ID #A2081204 (Diva) & #A2081205 (Dani)

🆘️ RESCUE ONLY 🆘️

🐾🍼 Meet Mom Diva and her 3 week old puppy Dani

DIVA (ID #A2081204) & DANI (ID #A2081205)

Mom Diva is a 7-year-old, 57-pound Staffordshire mix who arrived as a stray with her 3-week-old daughter, Dani.
Kennel DB27
Intake Date: 6/16/2026

Moms and nursing puppies are especially at risk in the shelter environment due to immature immune systems and increased susceptibility to infectious diseases. Diva and Dani urgently need a foster, adopter, or rescue placement where they can safely remain together while Dani grows and Diva receives the care she needs.

📈 Medical Notes:
Diva is heartworm positive, a treatable condition, and has been vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She also has small areas of patchy hair loss.

Little Dani weighs just 1.7 pounds and has patchy hair loss with scabbing consistent with suspected flea allergy dermatitis. She has been dewormed and received flea treatment appropriate for her age and size.

🐾 Behavior Notes:
Diva is an attentive and highly protective mother, which is understandable given her tiny puppy's age. Once separated from her maternal duties, Diva is friendly and social.

Dani is a vulnerable 3-week-old puppy who depends completely on her mother for care and comfort.

🚨 MAJOR SHELTER CRISIS: 80 CHIHUAHUAS SURRENDERED IN A SINGLE DAY 🚨

Houston’s BARC Animal Shelter has been pushed beyond its limits after receiving 80 Chihuahua mixes from a single hoarding case.

The dogs reportedly lived outdoors in a yard filled with trash and debris, with little to no socialization or exposure to normal home life. Because of their background, many are terrified, shut down, and overwhelmed in the shelter environment. Most have been designated rescue-only and urgently need placement.

BARC was already operating at capacity before this intake. An additional 80 dogs arriving at once creates a crisis that affects not only these Chihuahuas, but every dog currently in the shelter. When kennels fill, space becomes even more limited for incoming strays and owner surrenders, putting more animals at risk.

💔 These dogs are not aggressive. They are scared and untrained.

Many have likely never:
• Lived inside a home
• Walked on a leash
• Experienced routine human interaction
• Known what safety and stability feel like

Experienced PATIENT fosters are being asked to step forward. Even taking one dog can make a difference.

This situation is also a reminder of why spaying and neutering matters. Animal hoarding and uncontrolled breeding continue to overwhelm shelters across the country, while thousands of healthy, adoptable pets wait for homes.

How you can help:
🐾 Foster through a rescue https://www.facebook.com/adopt.wrw/
🐾 Adopt if you’re able
🐾 Network rescue-only dogs
🐾 Donate to reputable rescue groups helping with placement
🐾 Share this post to increase visibility

Eighty dogs from one property. Eighty lives suddenly depending on the rescue community.

Please share and help these little dogs find a path out of the shelter. ❤️

Ready to foster a family that came from this situation? Here are their details: https://www.reddit.com/r/findfostersfordogs/s/Lt3PGO9cFD

📝 Shelter Notes:

Behavior (growling at potential adopter, licking lips, whale eyes, stepping back when handler approaches kennel, tense body, flinch when handler leashes, became skittish when door closed behind him attempting to find a way out)

06/15/26 17:56 Moved to DD after cleaning by another staff member. I approached for PM walk and he stepped back, licking lip and whale eyes, flamingo paw and tail down in S-shape. I baby talked and he made no reaction, neither to treats. Lassoed leash on and he walked outside with tail down in S-shape, very tense and timid, flinchy but maintained loose leash next to me. Pottied on leash. walked back into kennel, panicked a bit once inside and door closed behind him, trying and find way back out, but then walked with tail tucked into kennel. flinchy and took a couple touches with the leash handle to desensitize him to touch enough to pull leash off

When approaching with a potential adopter he was loudly growing with a stiff body in the back left corner of his kennel. When I went to leash him he forward lunged while snapping at the leash. I tossed treats and gave him a chance to settle. After awhile I tried to leash again and he showed the same behavior. Caused the potential adopter to no longer be interested.

How do you do it?

Full disclosure - am a human emergency medicine doc. I'm sure all of you guys have been asked this before.
But how do you guys do it?
I ask, because yes, sometimes when human patients die, I feel sad. Mostly however, it's all explained away by physiology and part of the process of aging and lifestyle.

But I could never be a vet.

How do you guys deal with all the death and disability you guys encounter? That seems preventable, or caused by cruelty or even just an owners choice to end the life of their animal?

I want to applaud you all on being able to do something I can't even comprehend. You guys are truly my heros.

Signed,
A tired and sad human doctor

🚨🆘️ THIS SWEET SENIOR IS PAST DEADLINE AND AT HIGH RISK OF EUTHANASIA 🆘️🚨

🐾 Urso ID: #A845241

Rottweiler, male

Approximately 8 yrs old

⚕️ Medical: Rescue only

Severe degenerative joint disease and osteoarthritis, along with spondylosis and chronic pain issues. His body shows years of wear, and he will need ongoing medication and care to stay comfortable.

He is.... Still eating. Still moving. Still looking out. Still trying.

And that is what makes this so difficult to understand.

Because the dog in front of us does not look like a dog who has given up.

He is still engaged. Still responsive. Still seeking connection. Still finding reasons to participate in the world around him despite the discomfort he carries.

His spirit has not left him.

He leans into human touch. He watches people pass by. He responds when spoken to. He continues to show us that he is here—that he is trying.

A dog like this should not be spending his days waiting behind kennel doors.

He should be resting on a soft bed, receiving comfort, medical care, and the dignity every senior dog deserves. He should be somewhere quiet and safe, surrounded by people invested in his future.

Instead, he waits for someone to see that he is more than his age, more than his medical challenges, and more than a deadline.

He is still here.Still hoping. Still trying.

Terrified 8-month old Bonty is scheduled for euthanasia 6/16/26 1 PM at BARC, Houston, TX. He’s not aggressive, just scared. Although rescue only, Bonty can still be adopted through a rescue. Please help this young boy.

🆘 Terrified Puppy Bonty Needs a Rescue by Tuesday, 6/16 at 1 PM CT 🆘

‼️ RESCUE ONLY ‼️

💜🍼🐶 Bonty #A2080342
📍 BARC Animal Shelter – Houston, TX

Bonty is only 8 months old. Instead of acting like a carefree puppy, he is overwhelmed with fear and shutting down in the shelter environment. This frightened young dog is now facing a euthanasia deadline before he’s even had a chance to feel safe.

⏰ Bonty must have a RESCUE HOLD by 1 PM CT on Tuesday, 6/16, or he may lose his life.

‼️ Although rescue only, Bonty can still be adopted through a rescue. If you are interested in adopting, fostering, or helping save him, please contact OP or BanditY-Is-Back immediately. Rescues need committed fosters and adopters in order to pull dogs like Bonty.

🏡 Available through rescue for adoption, foster, or rescue placement.
🚗 Out-of-state and Canadian adoption may be possible through partnering rescues.

💜 About Bonty:
• 8-month-old Staffie Mix
• Male
• 43.4 lbs
• Heartworm negative
• ID #A2080342

💔 Shelter notes paint the picture of a puppy who is absolutely terrified:

• Tucked tail, worried expression, and tense body language
• Pancakes and freezes when approached
• Avoids the leash and refuses to move
• Attempts to hide when taken from his kennel
• Becomes so frightened that he urinates and defecates when handlers approach
• Screams in fear when cornered
• Has required carrying due to panic and shutdown behavior

This is not a puppy showing aggression. This is a puppy experiencing extreme fear and stress in a loud shelter environment.

Bonty has no medical concerns noted. What he desperately needs is a calm, patient place where he can decompress, learn to trust, and remember what it feels like to be a puppy.

Dogs like Bonty often blossom once they are removed from the shelter and given time to feel safe. Right now, he needs someone willing to see past the fear and give him that chance.

🏷 RESCUE ONLY

This pet can only be tagged by a rescue organization, but rescues cannot save dogs without fosters and adopters stepping forward.
