I have been lucky and only got one that was beyond my means and it was also my biggest one. A JD 720. Was stuck beyond normal means.
I hesitate to buy non running diesels because I am always worried about injection pumps blowing my budget totally out of the water?

We are in NE TX and full on drought. We had one of those dry thunderstorms which are very rare here. Just clouds and isolated wind gusts that downed trees in one area and didn’t disturb leaves next to it.
One neighbor noticed a high voltage line didn’t look right and called the Co-Op twice but no one came out.
Well during the wind gusts the big double pole cam down in the gust and landed directly on some cows and electrocuted some others from a short distance. The Utility has gone radio silent and didn’t even offer assistance in removing or burying the cattle.
It looks like they are taking advice from their lawyers and being completely noncommittal .
I am sure this will go to court as Act of God vs neglected maintenance.

Anyway that 13,000 acres sold and kind of went quiet. Over the last maybe decade the Estrella Insurance family from Miami has been buying that whole area. Now they are running 20K acres and have built their own processing center like what people are talking about in the news. Big capacity
Anyway, a Cuban Immigrant in the 70’s to an Insurance salesman to now owning a 20k acres in NE Tx is an interesting story.
One has to wonder if they are really ranchers or just a 40 million dollar business investment

This 85 was last in the road in 2012 but had been used rarely before that for a long time.
This is a true 61k truck. Metal good and after all the routine stuff and an exhaust leak, the drivetrain is great. BUT
Every soft part needed to be replaced. Hydraulic clutch system, yep. Entire brake system, yep that too. Steering box, oh yeah new seals. Squarebody problematic battery tray and fender line, yep ordered! Oh the radiator leaks!
Doing a final brake bleed today then will be running, moving and stopping. Will get torn down for paint and interior this fall. There is so much farm gunk that the front clip and bad are coming off for degreaser and pressure washing
It is funny, last year’s Squarebody resto was totally different. It was running and driving but had decades of “bubba” work. Little things were done but needed lots of drivetrain work.
Why do we love this stuff? :)

Working on an 85 LT9 350 truck motor. Is the exhaust choked down to smaller than standard 350 size ? I don’t see any smaller donuts. This is a 2bbl with vacuum governor so it may be a different donut . The old one was so worn it was down a bit in the pipe
I need to do this on the cheap for light internet traffic but a good solid connection. Pointing the yagi at the house gives me full bars. I need a repeater to hook to the yagi to have a permanent connection.
I know there are better more modern ways , just need to hang the antenna on the outside and have WiFi to one work table in the barn.
I have a spare TPLink ac1900 Archer C9 but it doesn’t look like it will do straight repeater.
Looking for a winter farm truck project and this potentially fits the bill.
I have no problem doing a front clip/core support type project and wondering how deep this could go.
Does that hit look medium or deep to you?

I mean a dead Powerstrokes seems to be almost free. This truck has been listed for a while in a farming community with folks who know diesels. Surely a 90k 2006 has more value than 1500! Seller says needs turbo and who knows what else. I’m sure he knows what else and it is catastrophic but that’s a nice basic truck
Spotted on an old farm property that is now listed by a real estate agent in a big city 3 hours away. I checked it out best I felt comfortable with while turning around after ACCIDENTALLY turning in the driveway. Called the agent. It is an estate. They are going to contact the family about selling.
No dents, turd brown paint could be saved by a detailer.
So many of these are dead ends but occasionally you snag one.
I will probably be braver today since I now know it is an estate. Been sitting a mile from me for who knows how long.
Usually you never hear back and then one day they just disappear. Or the family says “oh Daddy loved that truck, we want 10k”
I have a guy offering me a Squarebody cheap. Truck itself needs fuel tanks, hard lines and a new Ac compressor. Cosmetics needs one cab corner.
Now if I made this a painted running and driving truck, would I ever be able to get out of it once I was finished playing with it? Who uses a basic gin pole Tulsa setup? Everything now I see is mounted to big trucks.
Is it destined to be a farm truck? We already have 2 1 tons.
As a NE Texan, I am excited at the possibility of this as occasionally they will disturb the high over us and start the end of oppressive heat. Tracks look like this will come up too far west and not have much east side rain to affect me but could it disrupt the Heat Dome?
I’m not talking about the data center stuff but end of summer drought and drying ponds/tanks.
Ours are looking a lot lower than last year. Not as bad as the big drought but I hate seeing them getting in the mud to drink.
We are in NE Tx and normally only have to water things in pens and lots.
We definitely aren’t set up for large scale watering. Hopefully this breaks in the next few weeks
