Olivia Rodrigo's announces new song, "The Cure" out Friday

The first song on the album references Just Like Heaven, and the second song is literally called The Cure?

I'm interested to see if this song will be at least somewhat inspired by or similar to The Cure, because none of her previous releases have been (which is fine, but why make a tribute song if you're not coming to pay tribute?)

What are your thoughts on this?

[TOMT] Crocodile nursery rhyme

I remember as a child hearing a nursery rhyme like song about how you should never shake hands with a crocodile, this would have been circa 2012.

Child reference photo?

I'm trying to sketch a young child (≈4 years old) who's holding a teddy bear tucked under one arm. I just can't make it look right without a reference, but I also can't find a single reference photo of the pose I need.

Do I choose the easy spelling or the pretty spelling?

I love the name Lewis/Louis, pronounced as Lou - is.

I think that the Louis spelling is substantially prettier, but I also know that it can get mistakenly pronounced as Louie when read.

Which would you pick and why?

Why are people so worried about associations?

I really like the name Conan, but whenever I mention it I almost always get one of these responses:

  1. Conan? But everyone will think of Conan O'Brien!

  2. Conan? But everyone will think of Conan The Barbarian!

  3. Conan? But everyone will think of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle!

  4. Conan? But everyone will think of Conan Gray!

And I'm like ???

Obviously there are other people with that name. It's a name. That's how names work.

I don't get the fuss at all, especially if it's not even a negative association.

How do I pick a career?

I really really enjoy humanities and art subjects, such as English, Art, and History. I don't *hate* STEM subjects, but they're just not really all that interesting to me.

I do pretty well in school. My lowest grade right now is 97%, and I take 4 electives (Spanish 1, Child Development, Creative Writing, and Sociology). I'm also in the advanced classes for World History and English.

My parents want me to go into a STEM field, but I don't really want to. I get that careers in STEM are often higher paying, easier to get, and more reliable, but I just don't feel like I could be as happy that way.

So basically what I'm asking is if I should try to get a job doing something I enjoy, or just get a job that pays well enough to do the things I enjoy on the side? Also, if anyone here wants to share how/why they choose what path to take, and if they regret it or not, I'd really appreciate that! I'm from South Africa but recently moved to the US if that's relevant.

Worried my names sound stupid

I've got a fairly refined list of boy names. I'm worried that a few of them are r/tragedeigh's, but I'm also worried that some of the others are too generic and Western. So please rate and roast my name list. Name suggestions are also welcome.
