Say hello to Nalah! This beautiful girl was surrendered to OCAS with either her sons or her brothers - due to their owners being unable to care for them. Both boys were adopted, but sweet Nalah was left behind.  Now this poor girl has a deadline of Tuesday, June 30th at 5 pm - and we are hoping you can help her.

Nalah is 6 years young and weighs 90 lbs. She is very affectionate, social and allows full handling.  She may be a bit frightful of men and prefer the company of women.  She is very stressed in the shelter environment and has been losing weight.  It would be wonderful for Nalah to be in a loving and patient home where she can learn to trust again. Nalah can be adopted directly from the shelter, or she can be rescued if someone offers to foster him.

Meet Wayne. Barely over a year old, and already in and out of the shelter two times. So what do we know about him?

Sadly, not as much as we'd like. You see Wayne was brought in as a stray a few months ago.

Though not very big, Wayne is young, strong, and a little on the shy side. He can be sweet and affectionate, but usually only with people he knows and trusts. We've noticed Wayne in particular warms up faster to women than he does men. He still has a lot of that puppy energy, and he adores being in the yard pools all day long. He can get restless in his kennel, and he will need consistent exercise.

His first time here, Wayne was quickly adopted, as small and young dogs often are. But less than two weeks later, he was returned. The reason?
Because he was "incompatible with the household." So once again, Wayne was lost inside our kennels.
Wayne is extremely energetic, and can play fetch or swim for hours. He also loves being rewarded with treats and love. It's clear this sweet boy wants and needs attention. For the right home, for the right family, Wayne is going to be a tireless and loyal companion.

Wayne is also excellent with other dogs, and has been given the title of play group rock star. This title is given by our behaviorists to dogs who set the pace during playgroups, are well behaved and actually enjoy their play time with other dogs.

As with all our dogs, if adopted, Wayne will require patience, kindness and consistency. He is young, but he wants to learn, and he listens very well (when a treat is involved). We know in our hearts that for Wayne, a perfect day is a long walk or a dip in a pool, where he can swim and play fetch, followed by a big meal, play time with toys, and then a good snuggle on a soft bed. With his person.

Wayne doesn't need much to be a happy dog; just the right person and the right heart.

Meet Wayne. Barely over a year old, and already in and out of the shelter two times. So what do we know about him?

Sadly, not as much as we'd like. You see Wayne was brought in as a stray a few months ago.

Though not very big, Wayne is young, strong, and a little on the shy side. He can be sweet and affectionate, but usually only with people he knows and trusts. We've noticed Wayne in particular warms up faster to women than he does men. He still has a lot of that puppy energy, and he adores being in the yard pools all day long. He can get restless in his kennel, and he will need consistent exercise.

His first time here, Wayne was quickly adopted, as small and young dogs often are. But less than two weeks later, he was returned. The reason?
Because he was "incompatible with the household." So once again, Wayne was lost inside our kennels.
Wayne is extremely energetic, and can play fetch or swim for hours. He also loves being rewarded with treats and love. It's clear this sweet boy wants and needs attention. For the right home, for the right family, Wayne is going to be a tireless and loyal companion.

Wayne is also excellent with other dogs, and has been given the title of play group rock star. This title is given by our behaviorists to dogs who set the pace during playgroups, are well behaved and actually enjoy their play time with other dogs.

As with all our dogs, if adopted, Wayne will require patience, kindness and consistency. He is young, but he wants to learn, and he listens very well (when a treat is involved). We know in our hearts that for Wayne, a perfect day is a long walk or a dip in a pool, where he can swim and play fetch, followed by a big meal, play time with toys, and then a good snuggle on a soft bed. With his person.

Wayne doesn't need much to be a happy dog; just the right person and the right heart.

💔🆘 6/23 MEMPHIS A656919 NEEDS HELP TODAY . MEMPHIS lost his home through no fault of his own, he was picked up after his owner was incarcerated. You can see it in his eyes, he's worried. He knows bad things can happen here and he doesn't understand why he can't go home.

Whatever happened in his person's life... MEMPHIS didn't do anything wrong. But somehow, he's serving a sentence too.⛓️

Shes under a year old, started her on Bravecto and got treatment for tummy issues and shes been good since. Does well staying in a kennel overnight, appears to be house trained as shes had no accidents, she does have a chewing problem, she loves toilet paper so your rolls are not safe.

I do a lot of cat rescue and adoptions privately but am completely out of my element with this girl but shes doing great in our care. Just an absolute sweet heart. She's done amazing with the little exposure to our cats and my small dog. We cannot keep her and have not had any interest in her so far so I thought I would try here.

I adopted a 1 year old Cavapoo named Jack from a shelter 4 weeks ago. He did not “get along with children” with his previous owners. He was only there for 1 month, not sure what his history is before that. He won’t come out of his crate on his own. I’m doing my best to take him outside 3x a day to relieve himself wearing a harness. I’m carrying him to the grass and he’ll walk (run) back on his own on the leash. I have an in-home dog trainer coming by late next week to evaluate. We’re also starting Prozac. He’s terrified of every noise (especially children) and will start shaking. It’s just me in my household but there are kids he can hear outside. I managed to get a mobile groomer to shave and get the mats out which couldn’t have been comfortable. I just want him to feel safe enough to come out of the crate on his own. I tried using a slip lead instead of the harness but he wouldn’t move on his own. Looking for any advice or success stories similar to his background you guys might have. I know the 3-3-3 timeline but that is looking unrealistic. Appreciate your responses

This is Sir Charles. He is a mushy, lovely pittie who really needs an adopter. He has been stuck in the shelter since January (possibly December?) - he was surrendered by his owner - no fault of his own.

Sir Charles is so overwhelmed by the chaos of the shelter that he sometimes struggles to breathe. His nervous system is shot. He’s that worked up. He is just the cuddliest, goofiest, most fun guy without a bad bone in his body.

He doesn’t appear to be super comfy with other dogs, so he’s in need of an adopter (or local foster) with no animals in the home. All he needs is a lot of time to decompress. I think a quiet home would do wonders. He is located in the Agoura Hills shelter just outside of Los Angeles.

I love this guy so much and he breaks my heart week after week. I’m so desperate for someone to help him. I hope this post is allowed.

Tonight is sweet boy Cerberus’ (#A1247438) last guaranteed night alive. He is just over a year and a half, 38 lbs, and dog & people friendly! He knows sit and shake, loves attention and pets, and is playful and goofy. He is also potty trained! He would love to join you on adventures or an existing pack. He is not a good fit for a home with kitties or free range birds. Please DM me and contact shelter to adopt, foster, or rescue. Make sure to DM me for transport help. Cerberus is being euthanized for no interest/space. The shelter can hold 198 dogs comfortably and they’re at close to 400. If there is interest he will be given reasonable time to work out.

Cerberus is **such** a sweet guy that he was eligible to leave the shelter for the doggy day out program, for the best temperament dogs at the shelter! Unfortunately he wasn’t picked, so one of the volunteer’s who is a friend of mine took him out to the yard instead. She found out he was going on the euthanasia list and asked for more time, but they said someone else already asked to network him and didn’t.

The volunteer’s notes:

“He's a handsome dog. Very sweet and has sat and waited for someone to save him. He was eligible for Streets of Bakersfield today and was not chosen. This wonderful dog slipped through the cracks in a sea of dogs.

What I know about Cerberus:

Rosie was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services when her owner could no longer look after her. This sweet pup is very thin and her teeth are rotten. Despite how painful her mouth must be, Rosie has a happy tail wag for everyone she meets. Rosie is missing an eye, which she lost a few years ago when a large dog played too rough with her.

When a foster home stepped up, we were able to get Rosie out of the shelter and she went straight to the vet. As well as desperately needing dental surgery, Rosie is not spayed and likely has ovarian cysts. Thankfully, Rosie’s heart is strong and her blood work came back normal, so she is a candidate for surgery. Surgery is booked for later this week.

In the mean time, Rosie’s foster family are spoiling her silly and she’s soaking up every minute. If all goes well, Rosie will be available for adoption once she’s healed from surgery.

5/27/2026: Initially nervous and crouched when other dogs passed but responded well to gentle encouragement and continued walking calmly.

5/28/2026: Participated in a move-adopt program. Stood at the kennel door with a relaxed body and swaying tail and walked nicely on a loose leash.

5/31/2026: Soft open mouth and loose body. Walked to the runs on a semi-loose leash and was more interested in exploring than using the potty yard.

6/3/2026: Loud high-pitched barking that continued despite redirection. Enrichment was recommended.

6/4/2026: Relaxed throughout the day, easy to leash, and walked well on a loose leash.

6/5/2026: Stood at the front of her kennel with a neutral body and face. Walked on a loose leash, sniffed around the yard, and returned to her kennel without issue.

6/6/2026: Quiet and relaxed while lying in the outside portion of her kennel with a relaxed body and swaying tail.

6/8/2026: Vocal in her kennel during cleaning and lunged at water through the doggy door. Once cleaning was finished she relaxed, stood at the front of her kennel with a wagging tail, and walked well on a loose leash.

6/9/2026: Walked calmly on a loose leash to and from the runs and paid little attention to other dogs. Allowed petting after returning to her kennel and happily accepted treats.

6/10/2026: Relaxed body and wagging tail during morning walk. Walked nicely on a loose leash and remained calm in her kennel.

🚑 Medical Notes:

5/24/2026: Heartworm test Low Positive. Vaccinated with DA2PP-V, Bordetella, and Rabies. Dewormed and given flea prevention.

5/26/2026: Evaluated for hair loss and thinning hair on the lower back and tail. Diagnosed with dermatitis, possibly flea allergy related, and treated with flea prevention.

5/31/2026: Possible pregnancy noted; scheduled for OHE (spay).

6/1/2026: Spay surgery performed. Post-operative medications included Rimadyl, Ketofen, and Carprofen.

6/2/2026: Examined after blood was found in the kennel. Incision site from recent surgery was checked and staples were removed.

6/7/2026: Vaccinated with DA2PP-V.
