So when I met her I had no idea, but her intake notes say she was locked in an abandoned house and was crying in distress 😭😭😭💔 she has been at Barc 26 days now and has only positive notes about being easy to leash, friendly, keeping her kennel clean (likely potty trained) and not showing aggression towards other dogs.
Despite that, Drizzy is THE definition of a wiggle butt and boy does she have a lot to wiggle 🤣 — she could afford to shed a few lbs. She is hilarious and there was a volunteer orientation & I saw multiple people take her out and she was just as wiggly with each one! She is just happy to be living life! I noticed she has some skin issues. I’m not sure if it’s dermatitis or environmental allergies, but she has some scabs, but that could easily be taken care of with a few baths and some good food! She did fine on her temp test meeting another male dog, & never had any negative reaction walking past any other dogs. She is listed at five, but her teeth are very white so I have a feeling she’s probably closer to 2! I love this girl — she did have a few moments of jumping when she was like overstimulated, but as soon as I started ignoring her, she stopped. She definitely responds well and is in tune with her people! I really hope this girl wiggles her out of the shelter 🥹🥰

📝 Shelter Notes:

9/15: Approaching the kennel, Pony Boy was standing in front of the kennel gate with a neutral body and eyes, low-hanging tail and ears up. He was very quiet but friendly toward staff as they pet and leashed him. Pony Boy walked on a loose leash and remained neutral going to and from the outside runs.

9/7: Pony Boy was calm and quiet in his kennel and walked on a loose leash at staff's side to the runs and back.

🩺 Medical Notes:

- 58.4 lbs.

- Heartworm high positive.

- Male.

- 8/29: Pony Boy was bright, alert and responsive, friendly, well-mannered and calm. He was toe-touching/non-weight-bearing lame on his right hind leg, with superficial wounds on the distal and medial aspects of the leg. Initial differential diagnoses included fracture and possible CCL tear. His wounds were cleaned and he was started on Clavamox and carprofen.

- 8/31: Radiographs showed no obvious fractures, adequate coverage of both femoral heads and a negative cranial drawer or tibial thrust on the right stifle. The cause of his lameness remained unknown, with a soft-tissue injury suspected. The radiologist recommended an orthopedic consultation.

💖 Pony Boy is a quiet, gentle 8-year-old senior who has remained calm and well-mannered despite dealing with an injured leg and the stress of the shelter. His medical examination specifically describes him as friendly, and his behavioral notes reinforce that picture: he has been calm and quiet in his kennel, accepts petting and leashing, and walks politely on a loose leash at staff's side. Even on his most recent evaluation, he remained quiet, friendly and neutral going to and from the runs. Pony Boy does have some medical needs — he is heartworm positive and has unexplained right hind-leg lameness that may require further orthopedic evaluation — but no fracture was identified on his radiographs. This sweet older boy appears to be asking for very little: a safe, comfortable place to rest, recover and be cared for. A calm home where his activity can be appropriately managed while his leg is evaluated would give Pony Boy the chance he desperately needs. ❤️

8/31/2026: Today Marcus was still pressed to the wall, very scared and avoiding eye contact. Staff was able to pick his head up and place the leash. From outside the kennel, staff squatted to his level and he slowly got up and came close. He allowed petting and also started licking staff’s hands. He walked to the door but then became scared due to the noise and turned back around. Staff had to guide him to his kennel with baby talk. No issues removing leash.

8/30/2026: Marcus is timid. In kennel he is pancaked, shaking, and tucking his head in the corner. Staff leashed him and he began licking his lips. He crawled forward and came out of the kennel but then ran back inside. He was left in place due to the kennel being clean.

8/27/2026: Timid.

8/27/2026: Marcus was thrashing, air snapping, and attempting to bite while a muzzle was being placed. He was alligator rolling, vocalizing, defecating, and urinating on himself when muzzled.

8/27/2026: Marcus has hair loss and scabbing on his ears resembling scabies, with a resolving hot spot near the base of his tail. Skin scrape was negative. He was air snapping, thrashing, and attempting to bite at the leash. Assessment notes behavior concerns, skin issues, possible flea allergy, and HW Low Positive. Advantage Multi was applied at intake.

8/27/2026: Vaccinated (DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies), dewormed, and given flea prevention.

✨️Behavior Summary: Reason for deadline is simply because she is shy and retreats to the back of her kennel. Apple appears to be scared and shy while in her kennel, often retreating and barking.

👉 However ,Apple has shown significant improvement outside the kennel, —warming up to handlers, accepting affection, soliciting attention, and becoming playful. She participated appropriately in playgroup, walked well on leash, and re-kenneled without issue.

🩺 There are no significant medical concerns documented. The primary observation is that the dog is shy and needs a gentle, slow approach.

mail carrier couldn't deliver citizens mail because of the dog and the dog has ben eating on an extension in her gutter.

Behavior ( Extremely vocal in kennel, pawing at floor, dilated eyes, pacing. When on leash, walks forward on a semi tight leash, he is vocal towards other dogs and doesn't respond to treat trail.) LOS 19+ days

NOTE

Alpha was a move adopt to my section this morning. He walked in zig zags to his new kennel. So far he has greeted people

with a fast wagging tail and wiggly body.

7/30/2026 BEHAVIOR Relaxed body, wagging tail as I approach. Walks on a loose leash. sniffs treats but did not eat any on our walk.

NOTE

Alpha greets me at the kennel door with a fast wagging tail and wiggly body. he let me leash him and walked in zig zags to

and from the potty yard. Inside his kennel he can be seen waiting by the kennel door or laying outside.

dog greeted me in front of the kennel and whne i leashed him he walked on a tight leash and was vocal in the runs and

While kennel stress makes him pull on leash and bark at times, he settles quickly and walks calmly back to his kennel.

Meet Dolores ❤️

Dolores is a sweet girl who deserves the chance to heal and find a brighter future. She has an open wound with a skin flap that requires ongoing medical treatment beyond what Dallas Animal Services is able to provide. Because of the level of care she needs, Dolores is currently at risk for euthanasia.

We're hoping to find a rescue partner, foster, or adopter who can provide her with the continued medical care and recovery she deserves. With the right support, Dolores has the opportunity to heal in a safe, loving environment.

💔 Calypso is healthy—but terrified. She was owner surrendered for euthanasia and has been overwhelmed by the shelter environment. Her fear has been mistaken for who she is. Staff noted she needed slow, low-stress handling, and her stress worsened when another dog entered the intake area.
Her hair loss is not contagious and is believed to be related to flea/environmental allergies and poor skin care. Otherwise, she is medically healthy.
