How does the combat in Metaphor compare to Persona 5?

I think very highly of P5, but the combat got rather bland fast. I enjoy turn based games but it felt very much like all you did, every time, was just spam attacks to figure the enemy's weakness, and just use that attack over and over. Magic Points were somewhat meaningless because there wasn't much depth beyond that. Mementos was very boring as a result. Boss fights were different ofc.

How does Metaphor compare?

Kill the goblin leaders is a mess of a quest

This game feels like a poorly written adventure poorly run. It seems to rely on guessing where dialogue trees end and where to find important things, while being punished for failing to do either correctly. It clearly wants to proceed in a linear fashion while pretending to be a sandbox. It's far too easy to miss important things, xp, and even companions. Why on earth would you design a game that lets you miss finding the companions you need? That's just bizarre.

The goblin camp is a terrible quest. The whole thing relies on either being sufficiently strong enough to kill a hug enumber of goblins, including very tough leaders (Minthara is level 6), or somehow figure out oblique solutions to dialogue to convince them otherwise or get the better of them. This relies on the whole 'absolute' plotline that so far isn't explained that your character knows very little of (Shadowheart is no help, possibly the most oblique useless companion i've ever seen). You constantly engage in weird telepathy to try and guess how to win them over or get beaten to death otherwise.

And then it comes down to RNG. So I try to convince Minthara to leave the tieflings alone, fail and she attacks me. I have 3 level 3 companions. She has a room full of goblins and is level 6 and one shots Gale. Brilliant design. I've no idea how else you're supposed to do this. Halsin just tells you to kill them. He says he can assist but doing so will aggro the entire camp. So I chose not to.

How you're meant to kill the Hobgoblin guy I've absolutely no idea.

I'm not really interestd in watching youtube videos. I'd rather play the game, but the game just feels like "can you guess the ingenious plot device i created to solve this puzzle I created? No? Ok game over!"

Missing Windows Drive Formation, what do I do?

I was looking up an error message and the AI response tells me to search for this in the services msc. I couldn't find it, which is a problem. I'm not sure whether this is accurate or what it means. Should I be concerned, and if so, how do i fix this? I have windows 11 on my PC and i ran sfc /scannow which repaired some corrupted files, but the Windows Drive Formation is still not showing up. What should I do? Thanks.

CORRECTION: I meant Windows Drive Foundation

I cant switch characters in guarded areas?

Is this right?

Im at Amagashi Castle. I want to clear it out with Yasuke and then find the loot to complete the zone.

I kill the Daisho and aggro everything because i'm Yasuke. Then I go into the castle only to find I cant' get to the top floor as Yasuke since he cant climb to the top. I try and switch, but can't because it's a guarded area. So i have to leave the entire castle area which is a massive chore because Yasuke isn't very mobile, and then change to Naoe to go back into the castle to get the loot.

This is ridiculous. Am I missing something?

Series S Performance

Not interested in graphics whoring or system wars. I have series s and am very happy with it. Even playing Shadows. The graphics are perfectly enjoyable for me, even if they look better on an X.

That aside, there appear to be some performance issues. Has anyone else encountered stuff? I've had it disconnect the controller more than once, and during a cutscene with Yasuke looking at Naoe's painting of the Onryo at the hideaout it went a bit weird.

I might uninstall and just play on the cloud. (Boo hiss cloud gaming! Although AI datacentres are destroying the world)

Does Xbox Cloud Gaming Use the Series X?

AI has informed me that most cloud gaming through the xbox (I have a series S and play some gamepass games on cloud because why not?) is done using the "series s profile" even though its on series X hardware. Can anyone confirm, or is skynet lying to me?

What's this game like on Wifi?

I don't have wired, i'm quite happy not to play or buy this game if it doesn't work.

ANd yes I'm aware that wired is optimal, although i've been playing MK1 on the cloud just fine :D

This is a serious question. Wired isn't an option, no matter how long an ethernet cable I guy sorry.

What a frustrating game!

I like the game, don't get me wrong. But that's why it's frustrating. Lots of wierd things that aren't very well explained along with fights in tight spaces and a glitchy map (turning off deadzone makes it worse, great)

The game is a weird mass of contradictions. You have no choice but to play as Naoe initially, but she has a really severe glass jaw - and yet is very good at fighting.

There are lots of places where you kinda have to fight. Enemies you can't (initially I assume) assassinate.

The scout system is odd: you find tons of supply boxes, but not enough scouts to use them. What should I be doing then if not clearing camps?

So many waypoints are so awkwardly placed. The top of Osaka castle is great except you are right in the middle of a very large castle complex surrounded by enemies. Other places are right at the top of big hills that are really hard to get to because the foliage is so dense you literally cannot see where you are going.

The mission objectives are frustatingly vauge (talk to guy in city...ok, where?). I've been tasked with getting a Yosode. I already had one acquried as loot, but I went and bought another. But in each case that's not what the game wanted.

It's the most obtuse AC experience I've had yet. Is it better than Valhalla? I don't know, i've yet to omplete Valhalla. I do like Shadows, the storytelling is pretty decent and there are lots of things to do it seems. But it's hard bloody work!

Is this ADOS test considered suitable for adults?

I have an appointment for a remote assessment with Autism 360 on tuesday. This is the test they've used. I'm 53 and to my mind this doesn't really seem appropriate. I also can't provide a lifelong developmental reference (eg a parent) which is required, they tell me, I've been waiting 11 months for this appointment, can't say I'm terribly pleased about this

25 hours and I think i've seen enough

am curious as to how Wings of Ember will fix things because honestly, this game feels rough. It just comes across as very unpolished.

The bamboo foest level has a ton of very severe pop in. The level design overall is exhausting and tedious. Mazes for the sake of mazes, just to encompass the morale flags that didn't need to be in the game. I've no idea what problem they solve or how they enhance the gameplay. Battle flag placement feels very random. The Hansui river level is just dreadful.

Taotie is the most badly designed boss I've ever seen. The whole level sucks. Visually it's a mess. Everything is a muddy red. I get why, but that's not a reason. City on fire, so letsl make everything look red and shitty.

Character models up close look like somewhere between this and previous gen tech. Not bad at all, but certainly don't pop.

Combat is decent even though its very repetitive and revolves way too much around parrying. Reinforcements are annoying and really don't help most of the time as they hinder visual cues or cause bosses to veer from their script making it hard to counter. Case in point, Lu Bu needs to attack you so you can deflect him. Instead he can attack your allies. Not helpful.

Magic is kinda meh.

There is way too much loot. Your inventory is stuffed full of crap constantly 99% of which you will never use nor need. Embedments is fine, but just the usual Team Ninja busywork. Do you enjoy staring at numbers and lists of details? If not then it's less fun, certainly less deep than Nioh 2.

Most of the bosses are ok, but the enemy variety is desperately thin. So after 25 hours I'm not sure there's enough left to see that justifies continuing with these awful levels. The story is ok, even though your character is bizarrely mute. I like wuxia just fine, but stories in souls games are never much good. If they exist at al.

Needs way more work. Released too early, should have committed to current gen tech

Does the game get better than the False Flag mission?

Because this is simply awful. It drags on, endless and tedious, up a ladder down a ldder, through a vent, oh some imps! Better punch them! Can't really do anything else until after you rescuse Bosnok. Then you have to fight them in a dreadful combat scene where they just stand en masse in front of you not moving. This is after you tell the computer to a) clear the hangar and b) let your ship pass inspection.

Up until then absolutely nobody notices that you are knocking out troopers officers and personnel all over the place.

Sorry, this is really bad.

What sale are these games part of?

Two games i'm interested in , Anno 117 and AC Shadows, are on sale. I can't find out what sale they are part of though. Does anyone know? I don't think it's the summer sale. Could be wrong.

What is the replayability like? (DLC notwithstanding)

So, you lean how to build optimally. You are likely going to build, i assume, in the same order every time. It's not like you will be playing a unique faction with new stuff. It's Rome.

So where does the replayability come from at that point; difficulty levels?

Lu Bu is just bad game design

It's not even that his attacks are difficult to deal with, as he does them over and over and over. Its that he is a huge damange sponge. The whole fight drags on for far too long. Something that should have been caught in playtesting. But, as with all souls like games, bad design choices get a free pass. The fanbase laps this shit up and just says "skill issue" thinking that's a meaningful statement, it's not it just shuts down discussion. I'm kinda bored o fthis. Wo Long is a great game, it didn't need to be ruined by such a boring tedious fight. Half the length and you'd have had a fun boss fight. But no, Team Ninja, again, embrace stupid difficulty spikes and the audience goes "skill issue" or "its a a skill check", whatever that means. Sigh, remember when games were fun and could just be enjoyed?

Production stopped, Nowhere to go?

Not sure if this is what's happening. My campaign has bottlenecked so I think I'll restart with what i've learned. However I'm a bit confused by the following:

I have timber yards.

I have warehouses in range.

My production seems to be backed up, but I'm not sure why. I only have a couple of yards and I've built a shed load of warehouses. Surely I don't need to buy more.

Also, why is there a group of workers in the street? If i click on them the vo just says (to the effe due zzct of) we want you to do something, but it never says what?

I think there's a lot of stuff i'm supposed to be doing that the game isn't telling me. I got to the point where i built my first iron mine and it's all going weird. Should i have trade routes up and running by now? I haven't built any ships yet due to lumber shortages.

Is there a way to see the range of a building before you place it, so you know where the warehouse, for example, needs to be?

I am playing on xbox, thanks
