Lu Bu is just bad game design

It's not even that his attacks are difficult to deal with, as he does them over and over and over. Its that he is a huge damange sponge. The whole fight drags on for far too long. Something that should have been caught in playtesting. But, as with all souls like games, bad design choices get a free pass. The fanbase laps this shit up and just says "skill issue" thinking that's a meaningful statement, it's not it just shuts down discussion. I'm kinda bored o fthis. Wo Long is a great game, it didn't need to be ruined by such a boring tedious fight. Half the length and you'd have had a fun boss fight. But no, Team Ninja, again, embrace stupid difficulty spikes and the audience goes "skill issue" or "its a a skill check", whatever that means. Sigh, remember when games were fun and could just be enjoyed?

Production stopped, Nowhere to go?

Not sure if this is what's happening. My campaign has bottlenecked so I think I'll restart with what i've learned. However I'm a bit confused by the following:

I have timber yards.

I have warehouses in range.

My production seems to be backed up, but I'm not sure why. I only have a couple of yards and I've built a shed load of warehouses. Surely I don't need to buy more.

Also, why is there a group of workers in the street? If i click on them the vo just says (to the effe due zzct of) we want you to do something, but it never says what?

I think there's a lot of stuff i'm supposed to be doing that the game isn't telling me. I got to the point where i built my first iron mine and it's all going weird. Should i have trade routes up and running by now? I haven't built any ships yet due to lumber shortages.

Is there a way to see the range of a building before you place it, so you know where the warehouse, for example, needs to be?

I am playing on xbox, thanks

Buyers Remorse, Marathon Edition

I realise some people here actually like the game, but, having reinstalled to give it another try, I really do think this is one of the most miserable game experiences I've ever had.

Playing solo is just exhausting and unsatisfying. I don't really enjoy having to watch my back on large maps all the time.

Olaying with others is a gamble as to whether you'll be matched with people who even communicate. I guess they don't seem to care so much when we inevitably get wiped. Oh well.

Grinding faction rep gets very boring very quickly. Every faction is more or less the same as there's ony so many permutations of task that you can get. Kill some bots, loot some crap.

I've given up on thinking i'll ever qcquire loot anyway which somewhat renders the game pointless.

Extraction shooters have their fans, clearly. But I've learned the hard way they aren't for me. Not even a little bit. I don't think the gameplay in Marathon is bad but it's just no fun at all.

I wasn't bothered by the art style at firs,t but Perimeter bores me to tears now and there's no much else in the game. At least the maps in ARC are flavourful and distinct (to a greater degree). NOt just pyschdelic lego

It reminds me of CoD, in a way. The killstreak system. There if you aren't very good at the game you're just fodder for someone else's fun: you get to fuel their killstreak rewards while that portion of the game (which IMO is the most appealing aspect of the mp, as the rest is fairly standard arcade shooter) is constantly locked out by the sweatier players. If you're that good at the game that's fine, but it's not an even playing field. Look at social media, the ppl doing well at Marathon are the pro players who all communicate with their pro teammates and stream for a living.

This isn't for me, and, judging by the sales, not for many other people either.

Is there a decent console control tutorial?

The game doesn't seem super complex to control on xbox, but i can't find a tutorial in game and there seem to be a lot of controls and things that really aren't explained or clear. Thanks

Have 4 Wdo i ork Clothes in Storage

Not sure how to do this quest. It's very early in the campaign. I have a sheep farm and some knitters and they are making clothes. There are boats at the harbour, but selecting them does nothing. Not really sure how to do this. Thanks

Massive Difficulty Spike Post Baishe

Just fought the Baishe boss and now the game has a huge and I mean HUGE difficulty spike. Suddenly I'm fighting multiple mobs at once and they are not easy individually. They deflect a lot and throw stuff at you. It's not so much the difficulty it's the frustration of having a lock on that can't handle mutliple quick enemies all targeting you in a game where you need to parry.

Souls games do this shit a lot. TO the point where I genuinely wonder who playtests this because there's such an obvious disconnect between the tools the player is given (ie, camera) and what he has to fight. This is the case with bosses that are massive on screen where you get close and can't see what they are doing.

FFS!

Given there's no DLC, is it worth it for the base game only?

It's on xbox, but the DLC won't be. Seems fun, but I am a completionist and knowing i'll never get to play the full experience I'm wondering if it's worth it.

Starbases and population questions

Hello, the Duke of Cornwall here, I've developed spaceflight tech from my time in CK3 and now i'm building a galactic empire. However I'm a bit confused by a few things 💨

  1. I can have up to 3 starbases currently. I have 1. I've built 2 more but they don't seem to count toward that limit, why? How do i Increase my starbase limit?

  2. The population manager is a bit confusing. I have 1 unemployed pop (no doubt from Devon), how do i put him to work?

  3. I have 5/6 leaders. I hired one more, but they remain idle. What can i get them to do?

Thanks (i'm not really the Duke of Cornwall, i just enjoy learning CK3 as well)

Laptop HEat Concerns

Hey, thanks in advance.

We're currently experiencing a relatively severe heatwave so I set up HWMonitor to see how my laptop was doing under these conditions as it gets around 25 degrees in this room in the afternoon, and pretty stuffy.

Anyway, I'm not experiencing any issues, but the readings I got back seemed pretty concerning. Occassional temperature spikes of around 97 Centigrade (don't know the Farenheit) in the Core and Packages section. These appeared in red which is a concern. My laptop hasn't shutdown so isn't heat throttling.

Are these normal? It's only 4 years old this laptop so i doubt the thermal paste has worn out completely. I checked using the manufacturers diagnostic app and everything seems ok, but HW monitor is more detailed.

My machine is an i5 1135G7 11th gen Hewlett Packard running Windows 11

Or is HW Monitor prone to 'false positives' or something?

Reassuarance sought :D Thanks

Last Week I was Enjoying The Game

Honestly I think I burned out over tthe weeekend. No idea how many hours I've put into the game, but I picked it up about halfway through season 1. S2 is definitely a step backwards; Rook is utterly pointless. Sponsored is boring, having played it over and over.

I was just happy grinding faction rep, until I realised how tedious it actually was. I don't think I'll enjoy the PvP, which means I'll be behind the curve. The TTK is so ridiculously fast that getting better at it will be less fun than I'd like. I just want to have fun. I don't mind the style of the game at all, but the gameplay loop just feels tedious: wait ages for a match, join in, pick up some crap, die, back to lobby, trudge through the armoury for the free stuff/cheap stuff you've unlocked, reroll contracts until something quick turns up, try and do that...rinse and repeat.

I don't really like sweaty gaming, and that's all this really is. What should be a fun tense exciting game, is just exhausting and tedious. If i never see Perimtere again, I wouldn't mind. I have no idea why they lock some of the maps behind day/night cycles will giving me contracts that require maps that are, when I log in, locked. Learning Outpost is a chore. I'll probably never see Cryo.

I do like the gunplay. The TTK is a joke, though.

It just feels grindy and tedious. Maybe PvP is fun, if you're a professional streaming no lifer, but as is obvious the casual market is vital for the success of a game and whatever anyone thinks or how they defend the game, it's success (or lack thereof) speaks for itself

Oh and the discord community is just toxic AF. I tried finding players and got repteatedly chewed out for not following the correct protocol, as if I was a child trying to dress himself. Fuck that noise. Have a shit day :D

1800 on xbox/console

This is on sale on xbox.

I was tempted, but discovered it's only the base game. So i decided against it because i'd rather the full experience.

However, it is really cheap.

What do you think? Apparenlty 117 is going to have all the DLC, but it's also fifty dinari (i mean pounds).

Does Anno really benefit from the DLC? OFC I could play the base game and have fun, but that's not my style. I feel like waiting for a sale on 117. Assuming that's any good. Not playable on gamepass

Thanks

It's Getting sweaty in here

Its starting to feel that the sweaty players are ruining the game. All the complaints about loot etc - maybe you play too much. Any game can be broken if you pressure it too much. No exception.

But for us casual players, it's less fun. I don't want to play Outpost when I know I don't have a cat in hell's chance of competing with people that unlocked everything after two days of play and have ever priple/gold in the game.

Trying to do contracts is getting kinda dull. I wanted to unlock the Rook upgrades in the capstones, but at the higher levels, the upgrades are fewer and far between and endless runs on perimeter survival are getting tiresome. Besides I'm questioning what the point of Rook even is at this point. You have more chance of getting better stuff in a group with a shell that has useful abilities and can do contracts. Rook was a cool idea but it's starting to feel like a gimmick. It's abiltieis are rubbish: crappy healing and a disguise that ok helps you get past the robots, but not much else. Even then the cooldown means you can't just sit there in an area full of robots. I haven't even seen a rook in survival either.

The Night marsh map is very atmospheric but tbh it's kind of a pain in the ass because it's dark. Out post I played once , but as I don't have high level loot wht's the point. I don't udnerstand the point of locking maps at all. It can't be because of low player counts because it won't matter to nor address that, and if the player count is so low they can't even fill a map then it's probably time to cancel it already.

I don't have a crew to play with. The people on discord are just rude. The people i've played in matches with are 99 percent uncommunicative and just seem to think they should sprint across the map with no consideration for their teammates.

I love the game, but it's getting a chore to play.

Conquered nobles, what to do with them?

Hello, earl of Cornwall here. I just took Devon thanks to a fabricated perfectly legit claim, but the old landlord looks so sad in his portrait now, and I feel bad. I'm trying to lead a diplomatic lifestyle, is there anything I can do to make him my pal and get him onside? Is there any point?

Why is my army just sitting on the map?

I'm trying to siege Devon, playing as Cornwall.

I laid siege to Exter and that ended. I have 93 war score and it's no longer progressing. It's been like that for months (in game time). I don't understand what's happening. According to the army screen it tells me they are standing still. Is this broken? I can't click on the town anymore it just brings up the character page for the leader of Devon who hasn't surrendered.
