Hey Berliners! I need a bit of advice on where to best reach the US and UK expat communities here in the city.

I am currently helping coordinate a really important speech research project with Spire Light and Altavo. We are building advanced speech-assistive technology for people who have lost their ability to speak, mostly due to severe conditions like ALS, strokes, or throat cancer. The goal is to give patients back synthetic voices that actually sound human and retain regional accents, rather than forcing them to use a robotic default voice. (Just to clarify: No commercial voice cloning is involved, it's purely medical research).

To train these models accurately, we urgently need to collect natural, conversational speech data from up to 400 native US and UK speakers.

The problem: It's surprisingly hard to reach that many specific native speakers at once!

The project compensates people very fairly for their time (130 EUR for two in-person sessions, or up to 200 EUR if you fit certain US regional accents). The studio is located right in Berlin-Mitte (Mollstr. 32).

Does anyone have recommendations for active local Facebook groups, university hubs, or specific community centers where I could share this without being spammy?
