I passed the health check!

I’ve been wanting to get scuba-certified for a while now, but now that I’m going to Florida in January, this is the perfect excuse. Thing is, I have some riskier conditions and medications, so I was nervous for the appointment to see if I was healthy enough to scuba dive. I am. ☺️ I’ll still have to have the dive doctor’s send forms over to any class I take to get certifications, but that’s okay! I live in Minnesota so I can scuba dive a lot at home too. I’m actually excited to get to know our freshwater fish as well! I heard freshwater fish have big personalities, and they’re more relaxed. ☺️

This is annoying 🙃

So I’m going to Orlando in January for my 30th birthday and I was really hoping to get scuba verified before my trip so I can go to Jupiter and scuba dive with the sharks for a day of my trip! …but IIH stopped me in my tracks. Now I have to go to a dive medicine doctor and get checked out. Oh, and then I found out my medications could heighten the risks of oxygen toxicity, nitrogen narcosis, and seizures. 🤦🏻

Man, so many hoops to jump through just to see if I can take scuba classes. At least it’s only August 12th, so I have enough time to get through this madness and get certified (assuming I pass the checks, that is) by January.

So… I never thought I’d post here. What’s an allergy test like?

My eyes have been desperately itchy lately and I even got diagnosed with allergic conjunctivitis (but I lost the eyedrops that were prescribed to me, because of course I did 😒 I should check if they can send me more or if it’s too soon, because I did get a refill 🤔).

I decided to make an appointment with an allergist and I’m seeing him on August 25.

Now… I wait.

Hello everyone!

So, I’m a newbie socialist/communist and I want to learn more about the DPRK 🇰🇵 I’m from the United States.

I’m posting because I honestly don’t even know where to start, even with the links in the literature archive pinned post. There’s so many! Well, and I’m also posting to show you that there’s one more person interested in the cause. It’s always good to learn things beyond propaganda, after all… and the more the merrier. ☺️

I think the DPRK is an interesting place, despite not knowing much about it.

How do you know if someone’s “too far gone”?

I’m talking about they can’t be rehabilitated or taught differently. I’m asking this because there have been cases of people changing the minds of even the most extreme of people. Has anyone heard of Daryl Davis, for example? He’s a Black man that befriended KKK members and got them to renounce their KKK membership, and even denounce the KKK. You should look him up if you don’t know him, he has an interesting story and even wrote a book about his experience!

A lot of people would say members of the KKK are too far gone, but the members he befriended and got to denounce the KKK could still be reached.

I think it’s really hard to know who truly can’t leave their bubble and who can.

Is there a subreddit for authors who want to write accurate depictions of marginalized people?

Theoretically I could go to their individual subreddits, but I’ve noticed people on the deaf subreddit, askblackpeople, etc. don’t exactly like those types of questions.

What are interesting things foreigners may not know about Egypt?

Egypt is honestly one of the most fascinating countries to me as someone from the U.S… it has so much history 🥰 pretty much everyone knows about the Egyptian gods, mythology, mummies, pharaohs, etc. but what are more overlooked things about Egypt that you think are cool? Both modern and historical!

I truly feel like fatphobia is the most accepted form of hatred sometimes

It’s exhausting… especially if it’s against a woman or afab person (shout out to my fellow afab non-binary people in here! ❤️).

There was a post of an overweight woman being a new CRIME PREVENTION SPECIALIST, not a cop, but it was still shared to a group I’m in acting as if she’s a cop and completely body shaming her (as if there aren’t any overweight guy cops??? 😒). “She’s fat and therefore will use excessive force more because she can’t keep up with male perpetrators, and she’s weaker than them too!” Ugh, shut up.

Just like if there’s an overweight criminal, the comments go WILD with body shaming and if you point it out, “Oh, who cares? They’re criminals anyways.”

And don’t get me started on people thinking all overweight people are lazy, oh, and I saw a new one, apparently you can’t be intelligent if you let yourself get past a certain weight. FFS 🤦🏻 I’m tired, I truly am.

What country do you think I’d be suitable for?

I’ve been thinking about immigrating to a new country from the United States… but I don’t know which one. There are so many options, after all! I’m 29 years old, by the way. I’m also learning German and Japanese, but I’m open to learning any language.

For career paths I’m interested in teaching English, web development, cybersecurity, or healthcare (CNA/nursing), but I’m still exploring my options. I’m open to taking the time to earn the qualifications I need if it gives me an easier time immigrating.

I don’t have a college degree, but since I’m only 29, I’m flexible with it. I’ll go to college if I need to, and it would actually be nice to potentially study abroad for college.

# Countries that aren’t a good fit for me:

• Really hot countries (I don’t do well in the heat… and by really hot countries, I mean countries where it feels like summer year round. I love having all four seasons and having snow).

• Countries where LGBTQ+ rights are limited or where LGBTQ+ people face a lot of legal or social discrimination (I’m part of the LGBTQ+ community).

• Really religious countries.

• Countries that have healthcare like the U.S. or worse.

# Now to answer the question I’ll probably be asked, why do I want to move out of the United States?

One of the biggest reasons why I want to move is politics. I feel like it’s been increasingly polarized and I don’t like the direction things are headed in. I know the U.S. offers a lot of opportunities for people and I’m glad I was born in a country with them, but I’d much rather live somewhere where I can be myself more easily and where my values align better with society.

Also: I’m looking for realistic recommendations based on quality of life and how feasible immigration would be for someone in my situation. What visas or pathways should I look into?

How many of you were born and raised in the Midwest?

I was! Minnesota born and raised. I couldn’t imagine living in another state. ❤️ Minnesota has it all. Well… mostly 😅 we don’t have mountains, we’re landlocked, and we don’t have any deserts.

I’ve thought of moving to another country before, but if I stay in the U.S., I shall remain in Minnesota till the day I die.

What are some good finished or almost finished stories and WIPs?

Here are the genres I’m looking for: thriller, horror, fantasy, supernatural, and/or historical. It doesn’t matter if they’re made with Twine or ChoiceScript, I just want stories that are good and that’ll give me lots of reading time! I hate finding a promising WIP and then finding out it’s in the starting phase… sigh.

Oh, and if the finished stories are free that’s a bonus, but they don’t need to be.

To give you the idea of stories I like, here are some of my favorite Hosted and Choice of Games stories:

• All of the Vampire the Masquerade stories (hell, I love all of the World of Darkness stories)

• Werewolves series

• The Fog Knows Your Name

• Fallen Hero

• Highlands, Deep Waters

• Samurai of Hyuga series

• I, The Forgotten One

• The Passenger

• Keeper series

• A Study in Steampunk: Choice by Gaslight

• Life of a Mobster

• the Evertree Saga

• The Harbinger’s Head

• Donor

• The Midnight Saga

• A Mage Reborn

• Wayhaven series

• Ghost Simulator

I resent my bio mom

So, I got adopted by my great aunt, or I call her mom at this point since she raised me. She’s my favorite person in the entire world if we’re being honest 🥰 but oh my god, my bio mom… she never should’ve had any children.

She doesn’t even acknowledge all the work my mom has done in raising me, she flat out abandoned me with my mom when I was between 1 and 2 and didn’t reach out or do anything until she suddenly reappeared when I was 8 or 9, she acts like she’s my one and only mom, I actually have younger half siblings through her that I’ll probably never be able to meet because she also put them up for adoption, she’s against the LGBTQ+ community despite me being in it, things are very much “her way or the highway” and will get into arguments with you over the smallest of things if you let it escalate

I didn’t even find out that I have half sisters because of my bio mom, I found out because of my cousin. Yep, my bio mom told my cousin/her niece, before she told me. 🙄 my bio mom hasn’t even told me yet, but my grandma (my bio mom’s mom) did confirm it for me.

My bio dad wasn’t the best person as I grew up, either… but at least he’s trying to improve himself unlike my bio mom.

What religion negatively impacts your life the most, if any?

I was randomly thinking about how we get fear-mongered all the time about Muslims in the U.S., but Christians have WAY more of a hold on power here. Like… we’re at risk of becoming a Christian theocracy at this point.

Whenever I hear a Christian whine, “Why do you always pick on Christians?!” I always want to respond with…

  1. You guys and all of your harmful views are trying to take over my country.
  2. A lot of what you guys say about Muslims could easily be applied to YOU. Aka, hypocrisy is all over the place.
  3. You act like you’re the most oppressed people ever, while Christians are the most privileged group and religion

here.
