> വിഴിഞ്ഞം പദ്ധതിയുടെ റോഡ് കണക്ടിവിറ്റി എൽഡിഎഫ് സർക്കാർ വൈകിപ്പിച്ചതായുള്ള മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി വി ഡി സതീശന്റെ പ്രസ്താവന തികച്ചും വസ്തുതാവിരുദ്ധവും അപഹാസ്യവുമാണെന്നും പ്രതിപക്ഷനേതാവ് പിണറായി വിജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു. വസ്തുതകളെ മറച്ചുവെച്ച് ജനങ്ങളെ തെറ്റിദ്ധരിപ്പിക്കാനും വിഴിഞ്ഞം പദ്ധതിയുടെ ക്രെഡിറ്റ് ഏറ്റെടുക്കാനുമുള്ള വിലകുറഞ്ഞ രാഷ്ട്രീയ അഭ്യാസമാണിത്. കൊമേഴ്സ്യല്‍ ഓപ്പറേഷന്‍ ആരംഭിച്ച വിഴിഞ്ഞം തുറമുഖത്തിന്റെ 100 ശതമാനം പ്രവൃത്തിയും നടന്നത് എൽഡിഎഫ് സർക്കാരിന്റെ കാലത്താണ്. എന്നു മാത്രമല്ല, യുഡിഎഫ് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ വന്ന് കേവലം രണ്ടരമാസം കൊണ്ട് എന്തോ വലിയ കാര്യം പൂര്‍ത്തീകരിച്ചതായി അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നത് വസ്തുതകള്‍ക്ക് നിരക്കുന്നതാണോ എന്നും പ്രതിപക്ഷനേതാവ് ചോദിച്ചു.

> 2022ൽ വിഴിഞ്ഞം തുറമുഖത്തിന്റെ നിർമാണത്തിനെതിരെ സമരം നടന്നപ്പോൾ അതിന് പൂർണ പിന്തുണ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത് യുഡിഎഫ് ആണ്. അന്ന് പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവായിരുന്ന ഇന്നത്തെ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി സമരസ്ഥലം സന്ദർശിച്ച് തുറമുഖ നിർമാണം അനുവദിക്കില്ലെന്ന് പരസ്യമായി പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. വിഴിഞ്ഞത്ത് യുഡിഎഫ് സ്പോണ്‍സര്‍ ചെയ്ത തുറമുഖ വിരുദ്ധ സമരം പഴയ വിമോചന സമരത്തിന്റെ ആവര്‍ത്തനമാവുമെന്ന് സ്വപ്നം കണ്ടവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ അന്നത്തെ കെ.പി.സി.സി പ്രസി‍ഡന്റും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. വിലകുറഞ്ഞ സമ്മര്‍ദ്ദങ്ങള്‍ക്കു മുമ്പില്‍ കേരളത്തിന്റെ സ്വപ്നപദ്ധതിയായ വിഴിഞ്ഞം തുറമുഖ നിർമ്മാണം നിർത്തിവെക്കില്ലെന്ന ഉറച്ച നിലപാടെടുത്തത് എൽഡിഎഫ് സർക്കാരാണ്. അന്ന് പദ്ധതി നിർത്തിവെക്കാൻ സമരം ചെയ്തവർ ഇന്ന് എല്‍ഡിഎഫ് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ 99 ശതമാനവും പൂര്‍ത്തീകരിച്ച റോഡ് കണക്ടിവിറ്റിയുടെ പേരും പറഞ്ഞ് മുതലെടുപ്പിനു വരുന്നത് അങ്ങേയറ്റം അപഹാസ്യകരമാണ്.

> പോർട്ടിനെ ദേശീയപാത 66 മായി ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കണക്ടിവിറ്റി റോഡിനായി പദ്ധതി ആസൂത്രണം, ഭൂമി ഏറ്റെടുക്കൽ, നിയമപരമായ നടപടികൾ, സർക്കാർ അനുമതികൾ തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി ഘട്ടങ്ങൾ അതിവേഗം മുന്നോട്ടുകൊണ്ടുപോയത് എൽഡിഎഫ് സർക്കാരാണ്. 2022 ഏപ്രിലിൽ ദേശീയപാത 66 – വിഴിഞ്ഞം ഫോർട്ട് റോഡ് ജംഗ്ഷനുള്ള ഭൂമി ഏറ്റെടുക്കൽ നടപടിയുടെ 4(1) വിജ്ഞാപനം പുറത്തിറക്കി. 2024 ​ഫെബ്രുവരിയിലാണ് റോഡ് കണക്ടിവിറ്റിക്കായുള്ള 19 (1) വിജ്ഞാപനം പുറത്തിറക്കിയത്. ​2024-25 സാമ്പത്തിക വർഷത്തിൽ ഭൂമി ഏറ്റെടുക്കലിന് 11 കോടി അനുവദിക്കുകയും VISLന് ഫണ്ട് നൽകുകയും ചെയ്തു. 2024 ജനുവരിയിൽ റോഡ് കണക്ടിവിറ്റിക്ക് അന്തിമ അനുമതി ലഭിക്കുമ്പോൾ ആകെ വേണ്ടിയിരുന്ന 42 സെന്റിൽ 35.81 സെന്റ് ഭൂമിയും എൽഡിഎഫ് സർക്കാർ ഏറ്റെടുത്തുകഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. ബാക്കിയുള്ള ഭൂമി ഏറ്റെടുക്കുന്നതിലും അനുമതികൾ നൽകുന്നതിലും കാലതാമസം വരുത്തിയത് നാഷണൽ ഹൈവേ അതോറിറ്റിയാണ്. സ്ഥിരം ക്ലോവർലീഫ് ഇന്റർചേഞ്ചിന്റെയും അപ്രോച്ച് റോഡിന്റെയും അനുമതി കേന്ദ്രം വൈകിപ്പിച്ചു. ശശി തരൂർ എംപിക്ക് ലോക്‌സഭയിൽ വരെ ഈ വിഷയം ഉന്നയിക്കേണ്ടി വന്നത് കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ ഈ കാലതാമസം കൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

> വിഴിഞ്ഞം പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഓരോ ഘട്ടത്തിലും എൽഡിഎഫ് സർക്കാർ നടത്തിയ കൃത്യമായ ഇടപെടലുകൾ രേഖകളിലുണ്ട്. അത് കേരളത്തിലെ ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് വ്യക്തമായി അറിയുകയും ചെയ്യാം. സ്വന്തം മുന്നണിയുടെ മുൻ നിലപാടുകൾ മറച്ചുവെക്കാനും എൽഡിഎഫ് സർക്കാർ പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ പദ്ധതിയുടെ ക്രെഡിറ്റ് കയ്യടക്കാനുമായി നടത്തുന്ന ഇത്തരം വില കുറഞ്ഞ ആരോപണങ്ങൾ കേരള ജനത അർഹിക്കുന്ന അവജ്ഞയോടെ തള്ളിക്കളയുമെന്നും പിണറായി പറഞ്ഞു.

> മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുടെ പത്രസമ്മേളനശേഷം നിമിഷങ്ങള്‍ കൊണ്ട് പറഞ്ഞ വിഷയങ്ങളില്‍ ഫാക്ട് ചെക്ക് നടത്താന്‍ ജനങ്ങളും മാധ്യമങ്ങളും മുന്നോട്ടുവരുന്നത് അഭിനന്ദനാര്‍ഹമാണ്. മുമ്പൊരുകാലത്തും ഒരു മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിക്കും ഇത്തരം ഒരു അവസ്ഥ നേരിടേണ്ടിവന്നിട്ടില്ല. ഇത്തരം ഫാക്ട് ചെക്കിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവായിരുന്ന കാലയളവില്‍ വിഴിഞ്ഞം പദ്ധതി തടസ്സപ്പെടുത്താന്‍ നടത്തിയ വിവിധ ഇടപെടലുകളുടെ ദൃശ്യങ്ങള്‍ അവര്‍ ഇതിനോടകം പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു. എംഡിഎംഎ കേസില്‍ പിടിക്കപ്പെട്ട അനുയായികളെ 2024 ഒക്ടോബറിലെ നവകേരള യാത്രയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടാണ് തനിക്ക് പരിചയമെന്ന് മുന്‍ ആഴ്ചയില്‍ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പറ‍ഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍, 2024 നും രണ്ടോ മൂന്നോ വര്‍ഷം മുമ്പുതന്നെ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയും പ്രതികളും തമ്മിലുള്ള അടുത്ത ബന്ധം സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ദൃശ്യങ്ങളും പുറത്തുവരികയുണ്ടായി. വസ്തുതാപരമല്ലാത്ത പരാമര്‍ശങ്ങള്‍ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഒഴിവാക്കുമെന്ന് പ്രത്യാശിക്കുന്നു.- പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവ് സോഷ്യൽമീഡിയ പോസ്റ്റിൽ കുറിച്ചു

> The Supreme Court on Wednesday observed that the National Testing Agency (NTA) had learnt no lessons from the question paper leaks. The court said the NTA should be institutionalised and measures must be put in place to ensure that question papers do not leak. A robust system should be established to conduct entrance examinations smoothly, the court said.

> A bench comprising Justices P S Narasimha and Alok Aradhe stressed the need for technological changes to ensure the security and integrity of examinations.

> The court was hearing a batch of petitions filed in connection with the leak of this year's NEET question paper. It directed the Central government to file an affidavit detailing the progress made and steps taken to implement the recommendations of the Radhakrishnan Committee and the Nandan Nilekani Committee.

> The Radhakrishnan Committee was a high-level panel constituted after a similar question paper leak during the NEET-UG examination in 2024. The committee made several recommendations aimed at establishing a stronger system for conducting entrance examinations. The Nandan Nilekani Committee was constituted by the Centre this year to study and recommend reforms related to the conduct of competitive examinations. The Supreme Court will hear the case again after three weeks.

> Among the petitions before the court is one filed by the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), through advocate Tanvi Dubey, seeking the replacement or restructuring of the NTA.

> The petition has sought digital locking of question papers, a shift to the computer-based test (CBT) model and publication of centre-wise results to identify irregularities. The petitioner has also submitted an application containing recommendations on how the transition to CBT could be implemented.

> Another petition filed by United Doctors Front through advocates Ritu Renniwal and Charu Mathur is also before the court. It seeks the establishment of a statutory national testing body with strong leadership and accountability.

> When the NEET question paper leak came to light in 2024, the NTA had maintained that it was not widespread. The Supreme Court accepted this position and said a re-test could not be ordered. The court had then warned the NTA to pay greater attention to the conduct of examinations and directed a seven-member committee constituted by the Central government to examine and address the existing problems.

> എന്നാൽ, കേന്ദ്ര സർക്കാരിനെയും റെയിൽവേ മന്ത്രാലയത്തെയും പ്രതിഷേധം അറിയിക്കാൻ ഇതുവരെ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയോ റെയിൽവേ ചുമതലയുള്ള സംസ്ഥാന മന്ത്രിയോ തയ്യാറായിട്ടില്ല. അനുവദിച്ച എല്ലാ റേക്കുകളും ഉത്തര റെയിൽവേ, നോർത്ത്– ഈസ്റ്റേൺ റെയിൽവേ, നോർത്ത്– സെൻട്രൽ റെയിൽവേ സോണുകൾക്കാണ് നൽകിയത്. റെയിൽവേയുടെ അവഗണനയ്‌ക്കും സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാരിന്റെ അനങ്ങാപ്പാറ നയത്തിനുമെതിരെ സമൂഹമാധ്യമങ്ങളിലും പാസഞ്ചേഴ്‌സ്‌ അസോസിയേഷൻ ഗ്രൂപ്പുകളിലും പ്രതിഷേധം ശക്‌തമാണ്‌.

> റെയിൽവേ ബോർഡ് ജൂലൈ ഒന്നിന്‌ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ച 2023/Elect.(G)/181/11 നമ്പർ കത്ത് പ്രകാരം 2026–27 സാമ്പത്തിക വർഷത്തേക്ക് 12 കോച്ചുള്ള 30 പുതിയ മെമു റേക്കുകളാണ്‌ അനുവദിച്ചത്‌. ദക്ഷിണ റെയിൽവേയ്ക്ക് ആവശ്യമായ 12 കോച്ച് മെമു റേക്കുകൾ അനുവദിക്കണമെന്ന്‌ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട്‌ ട്രെയിൻ യാത്രക്കാരുടെ വിവിധ സംഘടനകൾ റെയിൽവേ മന്ത്രിക്കും ബോർഡിനും കത്തയച്ചിരുന്നു.

> നിലവിലുള്ള മെമു സർവീസുകളിൽ കൂടുതൽ കോച്ച് ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തണമെന്നും തിരക്കേറിയ റൂട്ടിൽ, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് പീക്ക് അവറുകളിൽ അധിക സർവീസുകൾ അനുവദിക്കണമെന്നുമാണ്‌ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടത്‌. കേരളത്തിൽ മെമു ട്രെയിനുകളിൽ ദിവസവും ആയിരക്കണക്കിനു യാത്രക്കാരാണ്‌ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നത്‌. യാത്രക്കാരുടെ എണ്ണം ക്രമാതീതമായി വർധിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ എറണാകുളം– കോട്ടയം– കൊല്ലം റൂട്ടിൽ കൂടുതൽ മെമു സർവീസ്‌ വേണമെന്നാണ്‌ ആവശ്യം. എന്നാൽ, കേരളത്തിന്റെ ആവശ്യത്തെ റെയിൽവേ ബോർഡ്‌ അവഗണിച്ചു.

> Seventeen athletes, including Malayalis V Muhammed Ajmal and Treesa Jolly, have been selected for the Arjuna Award. Ajmal is a track star from Palakkad, while Treesa is a badminton player from Kannur. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the awards on Tuesday. No athlete has been selected for the Khel Ratna this year.

> Treesa Jolly, who won two medals at the Commonwealth Games, was given a job in the State Goods and Services Tax Department by the LDF government. She won a bronze medal in women’s doubles and a silver in the mixed team event. Treesa is the first Malayali athlete to win two medals at the Commonwealth Games.

> She achieved these accomplishments while studying at Brennan College. Treesa, a native of Cherupuzha in Kannur, received her early training under her father, Jolly Mathew. Recognising her talent, the Kerala Badminton Association sent her to Indonesia for a month of specialised training.

> At the Under-15 level, she represented India at the Sub-Junior Asian Games and the Junior World Championships in Russia. She won both the singles and doubles titles at an international tournament in Bangladesh and finished third at an international tournament in Dubai.

> In 2021, Treesa represented the Indian senior team at the Thomas and Uber Cup in Denmark and reached the quarter-finals. She finished runner-up at the International Challenge tournament in Poland and won the Infosys International Tournament held in India.

> The Kerala unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is yet again facing allegations of election fund misappropriation after a video of P. C. George, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly and BJP member, accusing the party of misappropriating funds during the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections surfaced on social media. George was the BJP's candidate from the Poonjar Assembly constituency in Kerala, where he lost to United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate Adv. Sebastian M. J.

> While speaking at a BJP programme in Erumely, Kerala, P. C. George alleged that the BJP had spent ₹4.45 crore in a constituency. In his speech, he questioned how many BJP members were aware of this. George added that he knew which BJP leaders had allegedly embezzled the election funds. He alleged that the state leadership had instructed party workers to allocate ₹31,000 to each booth and questioned where the money had gone.

> After the video of his speech began circulating widely on social media and became a subject of discussion, George said that his remarks were the result of a misunderstanding and apologised to the BJP leadership for the incident.

> Nevertheless, this is not the first instance in which Kerala's BJP unit has come under scrutiny over alleged election fund misappropriation. In July, BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar removed three party office-bearers on grounds of fund misappropriation. According to an NDTV report, the alleged fund scam is estimated at ₹12 crore.

> Recently BJP's former office secretary of the Thrissur district committee, P. Akshay, told the media that during the recently concluded Assembly elections in Kerala, the Namo Office - the BJP's Thrissur City district committee office - received ₹25 crore in alleged black money. He also said that the cash was brought in 17 sacks in a Tamil Nadu-registered vehicle.

> Akshay also told the media that the money was stored on the second floor of the office and in a house located in Gandhi Nagar, Cheroor, in Thrissur, Kerala. The former office secretary also accused BJP state leaders of procuring the money, was brought in for the election campaign. He further alleged that the leaders ordered him to switch off the CCTV cameras and that the old digital video recorder (DVR) was replaced with a new one.

> Adding fuel to the fire, another alleged scam has emerged regarding the expenditure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Special Protection Group (SPG) during his visit to Kerala for the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections. It was found that ₹3.24 lakh was included as an expense for SPG vehicles in the BJP's election expenditure bill. Meanwhile, all expenses related to the Prime Minister's visit were borne by the state government.

> There have also been reports of alleged fund misappropriation in the hiring of helicopters and other vehicles during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the 2021 and 2026 Kerala Assembly elections.

> According to a report by Mathrubhumi, helicopters were rented at an inflated rate of ₹3.4 lakh per hour in 2021 and 2024, while the rate in 2026 stood at ₹2.7 lakh per hour. This discrepancy in rental rates raised questions over possible fund misappropriation, and a complaint was submitted to the BJP state leadership. No update has been provided on the complaint.

> The same report stated that the BJP state leadership had been provided with three helicopters for election campaigns for a total of 136 hours, but that they were used for only 42 hours. The cost of helicopter rentals for 136 hours would amount to ₹3,67,20,000, while the amount spent for 42 hours would be ₹1,13,40,000. This represents a difference of ₹2,53,80,000.

> The BJP at the national level has also faced allegations of financial irregularities and donation-related controversies. Earlier, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust - the body that oversees the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and is associated with the temple's administration - faced allegations of donation irregularities. The BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government was forced to start an investigation after the scam accusation became national wide news.

> In the subsequent investigation, ₹79.85 lakh was reportedly recovered from eight people accused in the case. Previously, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had also found that 60 kilograms of silver bricks donated by a jewellery association had gone missing. The missing silver was reportedly worth ₹1.5 crore.

> Consequently, the General Secretary of the trust and International Vice President of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Champat Rai, and its trustee, Anil Mishra, reportedly resigned from their positions. However, no First Information Report (FIR) was registered against either of them.

> The continuing allegations of fund misappropriation and donation embezzlement have added pressure on the BJP leadership amid growing dissent among youth and students over the NEET examination controversy, farmers' protests, and trade union movements across the country.

For millions of Indians, railway stations are places where a basic need is taken for granted: finding safe drinking water. A recent Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) audit, however, has raised questions about whether that assumption is always justified. Water samples from water coolers at eight railway stations across four zones tested positive for E. coli, according to the audit findings. The stations were Coimbatore and Palakkad Junctions in Southern Railway, Hyderabad in South Central Railway, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Bhiwandi Road, Kalyan and Lonavala in Central Railway, and Madhupur in Eastern Railway.
