[Hamilton] My 16 year old son bought his first Hamilton! Proud Dad!
From a 1941 Martin to the newest Jazzmaster Day-Date, my collection includes 14 pieces from Hamilton Watch Company. It spans everything from a humble Casio Duro to a $55,000+ Rolex Day-Date 228239. But out of 200+ watches, Hamilton has always held a special place for me, it was my first true “grown-up” purchase.
When my son started his journey into watches, I did what most of us do, I got him the classic Invicta Pro Diver. Over time, he added a few more Invictas, a couple of Seiko pieces, and even some vintage Kienzle watches.
This summer, he landed his first job as a Youth Counselor at the local YMCA. Early on, he set a goal: by the end of the summer, he’d save enough to buy his first “big boy” watch. His dream piece? An Omega Seamaster. But on a summer job paycheck, that one will have to wait.
Still, he always had his eye on my Hamiltons. Something attainable, something meaningful.
Today, that goal became reality.
Taking advantage of a sale from Jomashop, he picked up his very first “big boy” watch: the Hamilton Khaki King Field Automatic.
Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it—for both of us.
Who can I contact about sourcing a SH3285 v3 balance bridge assembly for this movement? I’ve seen several on AliX and AliBaba, but I don’t know which is the correct one.
Movement identification: Please read description before commenting.
I have consulted the guide to Clone Movements from the Wiki so here’s what I’ve gathered.
3285 Movement - Explorer II
- Train Bridge Dot: Small -> VR
- Regulators: Outward -> VR v2 or v3
- Hairspring Coil Direction: Clockwise -> VR v3
- Serial number: 1S788995
So I have identified this movement as a VR3285 v3.
Next, the Wiki provided Serial and Clasp Code Guide:
- Serial: ****X273
- Clasp Code: N9N
Per the S&CCG, this points to a GMF. As I understand QF & GMF are sister companies so many parts are shared.
Also from my understanding QF uses either a DD in their newer versions or a SH in their older versions. Since my research points to a VR v3 movement, can this watch be a QF VR3285 v3 or is in fact a GMF VR3285 v3?
I purchased this watch being told it was a QF with a SH3285.
Finally, the timegrapher numbers are:
RATE: -14 s/d
AMP: 253
B.E.: 4.0ms
How can this be fixed?
Huge shoutout to u/redbuttonpressed for the Big Red!

Reposted because there’s seems to be some conspiracy theorist who thing these are two different watches. Let’s get back to the original BEZEL question: RCF Stock (left) vs DEEP (right). Which one looks better?
Already had the DEEP Crystal previously installed. Just installed the DEEP Bezel. DEEP on the left stock RCF on the right. Which one looks better?
Two days in a row. That doesn’t happen very often.
