"Repeat up to three times"

So for an Environmental Studies Seminar class for me underneath the course on Degreeworks it says that you can repeat up to three times.

I met with an advisor and she said that I have to take it three times to graduate over my tenure here.

So is that accurate?

My Thoughts on EA MMA

Ok so long story short, I always talk up games like EA MMA even though I hadn't actually played them before. But after getting an Xbox 360 I spent about a week with EA MMA doing careers and quick fight (because that's basically all there is now) So; Did it live up to my expectations? Yes

NOW, I knew the striking was bad and the clinch was gonna be annoying, but I maybe didn't realize 1. How much the AI actually goes for the clinch especially on higher difficulties. 2. How the striking didn't only look slow and sloppy, but actually was if you used Total Strike Control.

I'll give you what I liked and what I didn't.

Pros:

- The creativity is absolutely unmatched. You can choose if you want to fight in a ring, a circle cage, or a geometric cage (hexagon because Strikeforce and because the UFC has a patent on the octagon but we all know what that meant); You choose different arenas with different canvas designs, different rule sets all the way from Vale Tudo which is everything goes to Strikeforce which is basically amateur rules (hell the only thing that was missing was actual ammy rules and MAYBE if they did Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, etc. rules that would've been perfect), And basically every intersection of said customization was possible. So even nearly 20 years later, you can still have a couple hours of fun.

- The Career mode is GREAT. The "story" is a little cheesy and doesn't actually end in anything its more so just cutscene transitions, and on like the 5th playthrough I just ended up skipping all of them. But I think it's better than menu-menu-training game-menu-fight-repeat. Fighter customization is good by for it's time but more or less average by games we get in 2026. The matchmaking can be a bit weird, sometimes in your second or third fight you'll get a rematch with dudes you finished in the first round, and also you could be like 12 fights in and still get a dude whose 4-3. I know this happens IRL all the time but sometimes takes me out for a second.

- Visuals, I don't dislike them. Yes the game looks 20 years old, but it goes to 4k60fps on my TV and I have absolutely no complaints. This is a bit of a personal tangent but I really don't like most photorealistic graphics. Like UFC 6 (from what we've seen) looks VERY good, almost like an actual video, but part of me thinks it kinda looks.....worse. This game uses the same engine as Fight Night Round 4 and is a tiny bit worse than Fight Night Champion. And I think these games look WAY better than what we have today. Like if the game is GTA 6 or RDR2 yeah I want as photorealistic as we can get. But with this type of game I think it looks better being a little more obvious that it's not "real". Completely my opinion though and I understand why people would rather look at UFC 5 or 6 over this.

Cons:

- No female fighters. I know this is a weird hill to die on but the fact we can't even create female fighters is a massive turn off for me. I know a lot of people don't watch female MMA and I agree it's not as good from a competitive or athletic standpoint. But most of my friends IRL are women and I just LOVE creating my friends in video games, so the fact that I couldn't do that really damped my longevity in the game. I'm gonna talk about lighter men in this post but no women makes even less sense to me because Cyborg and Carano were two of the biggest stars in MMA at that point and women we're even in the UFC. But more than that we had Tate, Sexton, Marloes Coenen, Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes were on the come up in Strikeforce at the time. I don't understand why we couldn't have at least made them in create a fighter and career mode. It's a bit ridiculous as they were also headlining cards at this point and were already massive over in Japan and Brazil. As I said I'm sure I'm the only one to care this much but holy hell. You could've at least let us create them or lower weighted men. In Fight Night Champion there were no natural flyweights and only Nonito Donaire as their bantamweights, but you could still make your own.

- Terrible Controls. As I said before I knew the controls were gonna be bad, but I didn't realize JUST HOW BAD they were until legendary career mode. It gets to a point because you can use Total Strike Control at easy and medium completely fine. But on hard the difficulty ramps up considerably. By the time you get to legendary Total Strike just isn't viable. The AI is way too good at parrying. And the fact that one block button does legs, body, and head that makes it so hard to trick the AI, you can feint but I just don't think it matters when the block is so OP. Classic is BETTER for higher difficulties but I think it's obvious that the game was made around their stick controls. I'm not saying that a stick based system could never work (hell I actually wanna see it again because that would stop so many spammers) but I just think having relatively complicated stick motions rather than just flicks like in Fight Night Champion made it harder to be good at the game. My problem is that Classic isn't even that good either. But tied to that the striking is slow and sluggish, but it's more than just the animations, the actual strikes are WAY to slow to use Total Strike, which is sad because I want to like it, but it's just not fair going against AIs. You can't really grapple either. You just hit a button and it automatically moves you along to the next position you're "supposed" to go too.

- The game has a top heavy and dated roster. First let's talk top heavy, most of the notable fighters are heavyweight and some lightheavys. When you get down to welter and light most of them are people who were just in the game because they were in Strikeforce at the time so they decided to cap them. I'm fine with that but I can't say I'm excited to use them in random pick up and play gameplay. But the roster is dated. You might think it's weird that I'm saying a 15+ year old game has an outdated roster. NO the roster is by and large outdated even for 2009.

I had other cons but honestly I think they don't matter as much.

Overall TLDR: I think the game is OK, it's definitely the best MMA game I've played but it's far from perfect, and I probably did overplay the quality more than it was deserved. I'd overall rate it probably a B tier game in absolute sense and an A tier by MMA game standards.

Semi-Pro vs Ammy vs Pro?

Outside of scoring, attire, and round length, is there any rule difference between Ammy and Pro boxing?

And I hear the term "Semi-Pro" thrown around a lot and I just want to know if there's anything special about that in relation to especially Misfits and stuff.

What was stopping Team Meents and Racesource from running Indy’s?

Obviously I’m not saying they should’ve been running Max-D and Captain’s Curse in 2020 at Monsters on the Beach.

But was there anything stopping the teams in Monster Jam that constructed their own chassis from running them at an independent event with their own identities when the season was over?

I ask this because it says on the truck’s wiki pages that the chassis were owned by the teams and not Feld MotorSports. Again maybe I’m mistaken that the teams are also owned by them but I feel that’s a bit of a weird way of specifying.

When doing a fist fight

Can you actually control which moves you throw or is it random?

Sometimes it varies but more often than not I just throw 4 crosses in a row

Personally I take relativity good care of my car, but I still shred tires like an absolute maniac and people say that that’s indicative of aggressive or just fast driving. I’m not SUPER conservative behind the wheel but I definitely acknowledge with these new tires I’m gonna go easier. But I just dropped $2450 on several things that I’ve waited to repair till now brakes, tires, alignment, air conditioning, and probably more I’m forgetting.

But this question comes to me because I imagine especially in high chase volume areas the cop cars need to be repaired way more often than a normal car. So this question is particularly aimed at cops who work in high chase rate or just areas the cars tend to get alot of work in.

How often do you guys need repairs or tuneups on your vehicles?

And what specifically do you think changes more on a cop’s explorer vs a random person who has the exact same make and model who uses it for their regular vehicle?

Mines Chuck’s second El Toro Loco.

I just think the truck looked super unique with its weird post cab with the fans and extra tubing.

Btw if anyone has any pictures of the truck naked I would LOVE to see it.

One of my biggest pet peeves is leftists from the south/Appalachia saying the north is just as bad as the south racism and sexism wise. Yes I get the North is more redlined and has greater income inequality between races. But I feel the north does more to help out than the south which is also, much more overtly racist.

If a city person talked about immigrants the way the average white blue collar guy from Arkansas does…..leftists from the south would (rightfully) call them out. But for some reason when 80 year old papa WHO LITERALLY VOTED AGAINST CIVIL RIGHTS REFORMS is “Just an old man” when he’s saying how we need to move all black people back to Africa. Like I seriously don’t understand the sympathy.

And I KNOW it’s racism and other forms of bigotry too because the south has the most POC by far, and an insane amount of queer people and women voting results of them regardless of education level is pretty blue and the white people (again regardless of education) is VERY red. And this is in the same districts too so it’s not like you can argue it’s about rural vs city.

One of my favorite jokes is that if you look at a map of the US it looks like it was colonized from west to east.

Now obviously I don’t imagine it would be Europeans doing it if that happened. Maybe the Asians or if there was some Polynesian tribe that sailed way too north and hit California (basically like how it’s imagined natives got to Hawaii).

What kind of other challenges do you think would come about environmentally? And how do you think the country would look relative to today?

WHAT IF

Someone decides to start a competitive tour with Monster Jam?

I imagine they have to go all out with stadium shows, competition first, and ACTUAL MEDIA. They could make their own identities like Monster Jam but I imagine it’ll be independent heavy for a little while early one.

Do you think this could work?

And what advice would you give them?

Long story short

I’m on my second degree, I failed precalc three times at a community college and it’s my last class of an associates program. But at this point my transfer university just requires college algebra for the degree I’m looking at. Besides that my GPA is a 3.4 (basically As and Bs in everything else)

Essentially when I’m applying for careers is precalc gonna be a deal breaker even if my bachelors is all As and Bs?

Short very rudimentary question: Has the communist regime in Cuba always been bad, or was there a time that it started good, but then it went downhill off the backs of.....something

If so why and how?
