It’s still a work in progress as I need to drill holes in the back and bottom of the cabinets, mount the doors, move and mount the tv, move the equipment like HomePods/Apple TV. However it’s about halfway built!
I did not get to see the new babies but I did see Willow, Khyana, and Sisu. I only uploaded some of the better pics as it was a long day.
I got to chat with Dr Wallace and his wife for a bit, along with Sarah (She is so nice and wonderful) and got to see her do a keeper chat.
I just love the last picture with her standing and her paw up.
Next Saturday also is Red Panda Day! What better place to spend it at the unofficial red panda capitol of the world. Hopefully I'll get to see the new cubs jerry and ruckus. I spoke to one of the keepers today and they said the cubs went out on Tuesday and haven't really been out since.
He did go from land to the water, floated forward and bonked his nose on the glass. Then floated around for a while before getting a snack which was quail. He has a weekly keeper chat every Sunday at 9:30 at zoo Knoxville.
I do have to be careful when I drive around here as there are many wild animals. I stopped for a bit to let my turkey friends walk across the road. Then on my way home I let them cross again.
I didn’t ask them why the turkey crossed the road though… maybe if I see them again or some chickens I’ll ask why.
He had his yearly physical today and was a little yelling in the car and to the car. He tore my shirt (a newish one I liked) and it now has two holes in it. After a few minutes he calmed right down, he saw a bear (it was black like him! But much bigger), didn’t criticize my driving much (he didn’t mind the big mountain drive). He also saw some turkeys when we were on the way to the car and liked that.
At the vet he was good. He was excited to draw blood but got worried when they brought him to the back room instead of bringing out the paper and red crayons. He did not like it at all but he was a good boy. He sulked under the exam table for a bit but came out just fine. He gets to wear a new calming collar (they were tough to find a breakaway one but I got one). His bloodwork was all good, he is a nice and healthy boy. He was good on all his shots and will get one next year.
I usually try to visit Meeko every time or most of the time I visit the zoo. Today he was up in his tree, he yawned and cleaned himself then went back to taking a nap.
I took the pics a few minutes before their keeper chat, they were sleeping and relaxing. One of them had his paw in his mouth and slept like that for a little bit (it was too cute!). During the keeper chat they all came down to grab food (They usually skip meals in the summer as they are good at self regulating food and usually they just sleep most the time and dont burn off/need the extra calories) but they got fish today and we all got an educational chat about them and their species (and how we can protect them, that they are an indicator species, etc). Some of them are picky though and will refuse a certain fish and want a different one.
He was looking at something and was standing right by one of his viewing windows, I slowly approached and he didn't back away and I put my camera down and up against the glass. He sniffed it and my lens was up against the glass while his nose was against the glass. He later walked off and sat down and I got to photograph one of his brothers while another one photobombed.
I don’t know who the other otter in the background is. It’s either Clayton or pascal but I’m thinking pascal. However it could be Reed as the paw sucker could be pascal….
I have heard the way to tell them apart many times before and each time I leave the otter area I promptly forget who is who. Fluffy boy is Clayton, Reed is spade nose or is it Pascal?
There were two in the tree when i was on my way to the zoo. Yesterday a flock of like 15-20 surrounded my house.
The strange thing is i often see more bears or turkeys when im heading to the zoo then i do see at the zoo. Or sometimes the bears aren’t out but ill see 6 or more on my way there or home. I even saw a bobcat once.
I took the pictures today except the last ones of Doofah, those were taken Thursday at a special members preview event for their new albino alligator. Khyana is one big reason I got my 150-400mm lens. She looks great in it (and looks great all the time)
I took the first pictures of Khyana today at Zoo Knoxville and the last 3 are of Doofah from Thursday. I really love his face on the last picture, it's kind of like a "You What?!" expression.
