IEC or CW?

Good morning everybody, so a little about me I’m 29 I live in Houston. I do not like it. Me and my family want to move to the Pacific Northwest. I have a career readiness certificate and a CPR certificate. I have the opportunity to join the IEC or as a CW with my local IBEW here in Houston.

My main question is should I stay with my current $60,000 job and save for the move or join in as a CW or with the IEC gain experience prior to moving to Local 76?

I’m green.

I called 76 and they were very vague about what they recommended I do.

Why have all my posts been deleted across various subreddits?

I understand and assume it’s probably an AI anti bot measure as my account is not that old and I had a few posts go viral (one about the Olympics while that was going on.)

What’s going on? The only thing I can think of is I bought a new phone yesterday and use a VPN.

Anyway, if there’s someway I can verify my account let me know.

Does it usually look this good or did the girl like me?

I haven’t had a little Caesars in like a year and a half so I really genuinely don’t remember. I thought the cashier was cute but I didn’t wanna ask for her number because she’s at work and I wanted to be respectful. don’t mind the messed up piece that was just for me my grubby hands, grabbing one.

The iPhone 11 Pro was the best iPhone I ever owned, which one should I buy?

I own the 16 pro max and can’t stand it. It’s too heavy, too bulky, I don’t like its “one handiness,” it gets hot just scrolling Reddit. On top of that, the cellular chip failed and they had to do a mid frame repair 🙄.

I do like: the speakers, the refresh rate, the cameras.

Why is this so funny to me? “Potential” employment termination letter 🤣

They didn’t schedule me for a whole month then I get sent this. Luckily I scored a $60,000 a year plus commission sales job in June. I saw the writing on the wall. Lowe’s is a scam not even worth the price of gas to show up

Most affordable way to treat carpal tunnel? I live in Houston, just started a new job and have a 60 waiting period for insurance to kick in.

ULPT Want fresh fast food?

If you want the freshest possible fast food known to Christ, call them a couple hours before you make rounds and tell them that you’re from corporate and that a district manager will be conducting a quality control check at the drive-through. Then order your food is normal and voilà fresh food.

Confidence is key here so speaking a commanding tone and be convincing.

Trade In or Keep? Office & Electrical work use cases

Context: I currently work an office job but am transitioning to become an electrician.

I own an Apple Watch Ultra 2 with a Titanium Milanese band. While I love the features, it feels a bit out of place in my office. I bought the watch-only for $250, and the current trade-in value is $305.

I’m definitely buying a Series 11 Titanium (42mm with a Stainless Steel Milanese band) for daily/office wear regardless.

My dilemma: Should I trade in the Ultra 2 for a $55 profit, or keep it to use as a rugged beat-around watch once I start working as an electrician?

29M in Houston, TX — Advice on cold calling electrical contractors to get my foot in the door?

Hey everyone,

First and foremost apologies if this is not sub appropriate.

I’m 29, based in Houston, Texas, and looking to break into the trade. Since our local IBEW has temporarily stopped accepting applications, I’m planning to cold call open-shop electrical contractors to build up my hours and gain hands-on experience.

**My Credentials:**
Active TDLR Apprentice Electrician License
CPR / First Aid / AED Certified
Certificate of Electrical Trade Career Readiness

**Working on:**
College Algebra Credit
OSHA 10 Certification
Interview scheduled with MC3 Pre Apprenticeship Program in August

**Questions:**
**Cold Calling Pitch:** How should I approach cold calling contractors when I don't have prior field experience? What’s the best way to present myself?

**TDLR Hours & Supervision:** What specific conditions must be met for my hours to count toward a Journeyman license? Do I need to be directly supervised by a Journeyman or Master Electrician, and do specific job titles/tasks affect which hours qualify?
Any advice or recommendations for the Houston market are greatly appreciated!
